we made our way to the grand floridian for dinner at 1900 park fare. after checking in, we waited about 20 minutes past our ADR until we were seated. every time i have been to 1900 PF for dinner, we have never been sat "on time". i opted not to take the awful picture with the awful cheesy background & we were taken to our seat a few minutes later.
i realized that we were sat at the same table as our last 2 trips for dinner. it was a 2 top table. i really dislike these small tables....they have so much stuff on top of them that it's very crowded.
but i digress...
onto more important things:
the drink menu.
i ordered:
Blue Moon
we made our way to the buffet.
emme's first choice was:
emme has started to eat cheese pizza so this made me really happy....it's just one more thing to add to her spare plate of food. she isn't picky but she doesn't eat much american food so disney food has always been a challenge for her.
i decided on:
the plate consisted of taboulleh, alfredo pasta, pot stickers, durban chicken & rice, carved meat + macaroni & cheese.
the star of this plate is the pot stickers. they remind me so much of my beloved pot stickers from ohana. the only difference is the wonton wrapper. the ones from ohana are thicker than the ones from 1900 PF. the filling is exactly the same. i loved these pot stickers...they were so tasy.
the durban chicken & rice was also excellent. it had so much flavor & really satisfied my craving for "spice". not spicy but spice. disney food can get boring at times & all i want are different flavor profiles.
the meat was on the dry side and the horseradish didn't have much of a kick to it. of course, i can never find a fault with the nuclear orange macaroni & cheese...it's so yummy. so bad but so dang good.
overall, plate 1 was a total success. the taboulleh was fresh & i love the middle eastern flavors. i was excited for plate 2.
but before we could get to plate 2, we had some friends stop by & say hello to the birthday princess.
up first, prince charming & his epic toupee. his toupee always cracks me up.
and then he danced with the birthday girl...it was so ridiculously sweet.
some more friends:
Cinderella
Lady Tremaine
i thought lady tremaine was really pretty....she wasn't very convincing as lady tremaine but emme couldn't tell the difference.
Drizella
Anastasia
i've seen this same anastasia in new fantasyland at the character meet & greet. she was a great anastasia.
the character meet & greets are a bit awkward here. with the big poofy dresses, it gets awkward to manuever around in the small space between tables. it's even worse when the characters come at one time at a relentless pace. it's not my favorite meet & greet but the buffet is pretty good.
...back to the food:
Spicy tuna roll & spicy durban chicken
the first time i had the spicy tuna roll, i was actually surprised that it was tasty. not only was it tasty, it was fresh. you can also get a pair of chopsticks (which i used for the entire meal), wasabi & soy sauce. mmmmmm wasabi. this was a match made in heaven for me.
and alas, more spicy durban chicken. lots of carbs on this plate but it was worth every single calorie.
before i got my last plate of food, i decided to try the strawberry soup. i never mustered up the courage to try it...i'm not a fan of sweet & i thought it was going to overbearingly sweet.
and the verdict?
i'm not a fan of the soup. it tasted like melted strawberry ice cream. it was something i couldn't wrap my tired brain around. i did give it 3 spoonfuls.
emme tried the soup as well and she thought it was ok. i have the best video of her trying the soup & her reaction.
after the soup, i got my final plate of food:
i had no room for this plate but i loved those potstickers that i had to have a few more. the mozarella cheese & tomato salad was also scrumptious. the salmon was a wee bit dry that i only had one small bite.
for emme's birthday, she was given a mickey cup cake in addition to a signed place mat.
overall, dinner was very satisfying. i was happy that we returned. buffet wise, the food is eccletic, fresh and tastes good. the character interaction is a bit awkward but the step sisters are hilarious. i've read that the fairy god mother is there sometimes but the times that we have been, it's always been cinderella, prince charming, lady tremaine, anastasia & drizella.
afterwards, we took the monorail back to magic kingdom for a few more hours of fun & of course wishes.
emme wanted to say hello to a friend:
she is by far the best merida i've seen at disney. she is so into her character and is great with everyone she greets. two thumbs up from us.
emme also wanted to try her skill at archery:
we continued onto fantasyland and rode emme's favorite ride of all time:
after a little exploring, we rode the carousel:
and a dose of it's a small world...
the korean dolls dressed in traditional korean dress.
good bye in korean
after the ride, we made our way to find a space for celebrate the magic & wishes.
