**Rockin the expandable tutu!! -- F&W in 1.5 hours & a DISmeet! [updated 9.29.14]

That is too funny about that sign at Boma. Yeah, don't give me excuses, just sit me down and feed me :rotfl: I have to say, the whole line thing is what makes buffets not my meal of choice. You pay so much money (because it's all you can eat) and then you have to wait in line and deal with rude people, line-cutters and misc. bad behavior. :furious:

Amen!

Buffets bring out the worst in some people. Actually, I think Disney brings out the worst in some people...I've witnessed some crazy stuff!

We do a lot of character buffets but they are getting pricier by the day. I'm the idiot that continues to eat at them so I really shouldn't complain, right?

1900 PF has their meat carving station right in the center & that makes access easier and quicker...it makes total sense for the meat to be there. I just don't like boma's layout.

It costs $17.00 for Emme to eat at ohana & she doesn't eat any of the meat. Just a bowl of white rice & a side of Mac & cheese....I have a love/hate relationship with Disney buffets. Ha ha!

I also just reserved the Star Wars buffet at Hollywood & vine...I really want to see the characters & am going to pay $55.99. Totally crazy but the characters are going to be so cute!

so sad we can not make a star wars weekend. when i saw the SWW meals I knew Dh would love it but we just could not make it work

I actually like the lunch buffet at Hollywood & vine. I've been twice and it's pretty diverse and tasty.

I'm shocked at the price for SWW but it beats waiting in line. We are going over Memorial Day weekend & I'm taking my parents. My dad is kicking cancer's butt & my mom needs a little break & a change of scenery. I'm not sure if I am going to take my parents to the SW dinner. They would be so confused as they have never seen the movies.

Wish you guys could make it...it will be there until June!

I have a random question for you! Do you take Emme up to the buffet everytime you get up to get something? Or does she sit at the table by herself? The reason I ask is because I'll be taking my 2 DD's (ages 6 and 4.5) by myself in May and I was contemplating just letting them sit at the table while I fill their plates and then my plate. Is that allowed? :confused3

I am not Patty, but I was by myself at 2 buffets with my 5 year old. I tried at Cape May to leave him at the table and it was okay as long as we could see each other. He freaked a little when he couldn't see me. At 1900 PF, the buffet was too far away and obstructed from view so I didn't risk it (not risk as in safety but not risk in my 5 year old getting anxious).

hello. :wave2:

i love random questions! :thumbsup2

it really depends on emme's mood. 90% of the time, she would rather stay in her seat to eat or play with her kindle. i do ask her if she would like to go up but more often than naught, she refuses.

however, on our first trip up, we do go to the buffet together. i let her hold her plate (she's a big girl she says) until it gets too heavy for her to hold. she's only dropped one empty plate so far. :bitelip:

i allow her to chose what she wants to eat & that seems to make her happy and keep her occupied when it's time to eat.

i'm sure people frown or shake their heads when i do leave her they are not the boss of me! :rotfl:

which buffets will you be eating at?

at 1900 PF, we've sat at the same table 3 times in a row. i left her as i made multiple trips to the table. you can pretty much see your table unless you are in the side room.

at boma (this is where she dropped her plate), she didn't want to go up with me. i think the dropped plate traumatized her.

at chef mickey's, she will stay seated at the table unless she is stir crazy.

at akershus, we only make one trip to the cold buffet together.

at cape may, even though we sat in the room away from the buffet, i left her. she draws on the paper table cloth to keep herself busy.

however, at crystal palace, she comes with me most of the time. crystal palace is really spread out & it takes me longer to refill my plate than the other buffets. over the summer, she did sit by herself one time but the other 2 trips, she came with me.

i think your kids are old enough to sit by themselves but it's really how you feel & if it makes you or your kids anxious. i figure no one is going to steal my kid as they are stuck with their kids & other screaming kids for the duration of the trip. :lmao:

plus, it's so much quicker by myself! :cheer2:

Thanks for the advice emmebear!
I'm pretty sure my girls won't mind waiting at the table, I just wanted to make sure no one thought I was abandoning my children! We will be doing 1900 PF, Tusker House, and H&V breakfast.

We've eaten at TH too and I've left Emme at the table with no worries.

Be careful at character buffets...when they are in your section...wait it out. If they miss you, it takes FOREVER for them to get back to you.

At Th they come around more than once.

1900 PF is very crowded when the characters come around but the step sisters are super fun.

H&v has Sofia and doc now! We met them last month...can't wait to report on that meet and greet soon!!

Sooooo...DD10 who is a foodie but not a big (quantity) eater....the sticker shock when I paid for our CRT breakfast reservation!!! :rotfl: Why couldn't we have visited WDW when she was 9??!!! (shakes fist)

i'm sure people frown or shake their heads when i do leave her they are not the boss of me! :rotfl:
Gotta love parental judgment :rolleyes2

after our breakfast at boma, we headed to magic kingdom. we made a stop to say hello to a friend.

13330837283_31058cfba0.jpg

this was our first time meeting talking mickey. he saw emme's birthday button & did something very special....he sang happy birthday to her! she felt so special.

click on the image for video.

as we were making our way to fantasyland...emme's favorite show begins. she absolutely loves this show & could watch it multiple times a day. she could be in a dead sleep & will wake up when she hears the music. i enjoy it but we saw it 3 times on this day....there's only so much i can take.

13330837943_9af9fc725b.jpg

i'm surprised she took this picture with me!

and some photos from the show:

minnie was so cute as she was dancing.

13547776443_98170c30ef_z.jpg

13547769353_176acd82bb_z.jpg

and emme's favorite part is when the princesses make their appearance:

isn't the crane a lovely accessory for the castle?!?!

13547752933_233b26389c_z.jpg

after watching the show, we finally made our way to fantasyland.

13547996964_0f1b804f66_z.jpg

after spending quite a bit of time in fantasyland, it was time for a snack.

emme chose:

13330713855_7fa415a09f_z.jpg

we got this from storybook treats. i also ask for the ice cream in a tall cup or a bowl as it melts & gets everywhere in the original container. it's been a life saver.

soon after giving emme her ice cream, this is the pose the assumed:

13330717985_d45d469c99_z.jpg

and that my friends...is lights out for emme. she was passed out for about 1.5 hours.

so not wanting the ice cream go to waste, i took it upon myself to eat it. only to find something strange:

13331098704_75fd44350d_z.jpg

where's the rest of my ice cream? it's hollow on the inside...thought that was weird. whenever i get a citrus swirl...it's never looked like this. it left me confused as i went to search for another snack.

i made my way to frontierland to get a total gluttinous snack.....

BEHOLD!!!

13330868443_dd5bbced76_z.jpg

these are the chili cheese fries from pecos bill. but these chili cheese fries are missing an important element...the nuclear orange nacho cheese sauce...mmmmmm!

13331119204_58b8eba2a8_z.jpg

after a trip to the toppings bar, i loaded up on the nuclear orange nacho cheese sauce & the banana peppers.

i also got a side of:

13330686405_cab34a27f9_z.jpg

oh look...more nacho cheese.

i really hated myself afterwards for devouring this entire thing but there is something special about eating this at disney. i never order this when at home but i just love these chili cheese fries. i also got to eat this in peace and quiet as emme was sleeping. i had a nice table inside and stuffed my face in silence...it was glorious. the only thing missing was a nice cold beer...but it's magic kingdom so no beer for me.

after finishing, i strolled around a bit and explored some more while emme slept.

finally emme was awake and we watched the show AGAIN and then made our way to grand floridian for our dinner at 1900 park fare.

13330717985_d45d469c99_z.jpg

Love this picture of sleeping Emme with her bowl of ice cream. Looks as though she managed atleast one bite before lights out.
Your castle show pictures turned out really well.
Thanks for your continuous TR and food updates. :cool1:

Thank you!! :)

I'm lucky that she still naps as it gives me some quiet time. I normally take advantage of this at Epcot. Nothing beats drinking adult beverages and stuffing my face in peace & quiet.

we made our way to the grand floridian for dinner at 1900 park fare. after checking in, we waited about 20 minutes past our ADR until we were seated. every time i have been to 1900 PF for dinner, we have never been sat "on time". i opted not to take the awful picture with the awful cheesy background & we were taken to our seat a few minutes later.

i realized that we were sat at the same table as our last 2 trips for dinner. it was a 2 top table. i really dislike these small tables....they have so much stuff on top of them that it's very crowded.

but i digress...

onto more important things:

13547597855_e5483122b6_z.jpg

the drink menu.

i ordered:

13547593265_b7a6ea984a_z.jpg

Blue Moon

we made our way to the buffet.

emme's first choice was:

13498870593_94e11a202b_z.jpg

emme has started to eat cheese pizza so this made me really happy....it's just one more thing to add to her spare plate of food. she isn't picky but she doesn't eat much american food so disney food has always been a challenge for her.

i decided on:

13547609615_12c08c06b5_z.jpg

the plate consisted of taboulleh, alfredo pasta, pot stickers, durban chicken & rice, carved meat + macaroni & cheese.

13498762485_99755b8a73_z.jpg

the star of this plate is the pot stickers. they remind me so much of my beloved pot stickers from ohana. the only difference is the wonton wrapper. the ones from ohana are thicker than the ones from 1900 PF. the filling is exactly the same. i loved these pot stickers...they were so tasy.

the durban chicken & rice was also excellent. it had so much flavor & really satisfied my craving for "spice". not spicy but spice. disney food can get boring at times & all i want are different flavor profiles.

the meat was on the dry side and the horseradish didn't have much of a kick to it. of course, i can never find a fault with the nuclear orange macaroni & cheese...it's so yummy. so bad but so dang good.

overall, plate 1 was a total success. the taboulleh was fresh & i love the middle eastern flavors. i was excited for plate 2.

but before we could get to plate 2, we had some friends stop by & say hello to the birthday princess.

up first, prince charming & his epic toupee. his toupee always cracks me up.

13547673803_07a81b31c9_z.jpg

and then he danced with the birthday girl...it was so ridiculously sweet.

13547886014_9a8bbe8ece_z.jpg

13498864413_b54512f74a.jpg

some more friends:

13547662053_4016debc42_z.jpg

Cinderella

13547657083_5025494f6f_z.jpg

Lady Tremaine

i thought lady tremaine was really pretty....she wasn't very convincing as lady tremaine but emme couldn't tell the difference.

13547556345_d0da7abb4f_z.jpg

Drizella

13547865514_297c352657_z.jpg

Anastasia

i've seen this same anastasia in new fantasyland at the character meet & greet. she was a great anastasia.

the character meet & greets are a bit awkward here. with the big poofy dresses, it gets awkward to manuever around in the small space between tables. it's even worse when the characters come at one time at a relentless pace. it's not my favorite meet & greet but the buffet is pretty good.

...back to the food:

13547588815_ae23c93345_z.jpg

Spicy tuna roll & spicy durban chicken

the first time i had the spicy tuna roll, i was actually surprised that it was tasty. not only was it tasty, it was fresh. you can also get a pair of chopsticks (which i used for the entire meal), wasabi & soy sauce. mmmmmm wasabi. this was a match made in heaven for me.

and alas, more spicy durban chicken. lots of carbs on this plate but it was worth every single calorie.

before i got my last plate of food, i decided to try the strawberry soup. i never mustered up the courage to try it...i'm not a fan of sweet & i thought it was going to overbearingly sweet.

13547650203_aa3b3db300_z.jpg

and the verdict?

i'm not a fan of the soup. it tasted like melted strawberry ice cream. it was something i couldn't wrap my tired brain around. i did give it 3 spoonfuls.

emme tried the soup as well and she thought it was ok. i have the best video of her trying the soup & her reaction.

after the soup, i got my final plate of food:

13547870664_4cd0ef8e1c_z.jpg

i had no room for this plate but i loved those potstickers that i had to have a few more. the mozarella cheese & tomato salad was also scrumptious. the salmon was a wee bit dry that i only had one small bite.

for emme's birthday, she was given a mickey cup cake in addition to a signed place mat.

13499105764_c0cba6025c_z.jpg

overall, dinner was very satisfying. i was happy that we returned. buffet wise, the food is eccletic, fresh and tastes good. the character interaction is a bit awkward but the step sisters are hilarious. i've read that the fairy god mother is there sometimes but the times that we have been, it's always been cinderella, prince charming, lady tremaine, anastasia & drizella.

afterwards, we took the monorail back to magic kingdom for a few more hours of fun & of course wishes.

emme wanted to say hello to a friend:

13547621665_079b1a9491_z.jpg

she is by far the best merida i've seen at disney. she is so into her character and is great with everyone she greets. two thumbs up from us.

emme also wanted to try her skill at archery:

13547613945_e1bcc5e6eb_z.jpg

we continued onto fantasyland and rode emme's favorite ride of all time:

13547589493_cb3825dffb_z.jpg

13547494025_6a87408049_z.jpg

after a little exploring, we rode the carousel:

13547593533_3960324a8c_z.jpg

and a dose of it's a small world...

13547510775_ff54d8170f_z.jpg

the korean dolls dressed in traditional korean dress.

good bye in korean

after the ride, we made our way to find a space for celebrate the magic & wishes.

13499089744_34084a7c47_z.jpg

then we said hello to some more friends:

13547794764_767754a03b_z.jpg

show rapunzel her new punzel doll.

13547475215_e079ee9743_z.jpg

we found our spot & enjoyed the show & fireworks:

after wishes, we headed back home. i was sad that this was our last night at disney.

tomorrow would only be a half day and then we would have to go home. :(

The buffet is pretty good for dinner...it has a ton of variety. The prices keep going up but at least I can have an adult beverage before heading back to MK. :)

I enjoyed breakfast as well...the MADD hatter was awesome!
