Roaster Oven?

I order our holiday meal every year from our local Market Street, but I always end up ordering a ham in addition to the turkey meal or a turkey in addition to the ham meal because my family likes both. Plus, I use the leftover meat for soup and sandwiches.

So, to save money, I'm thinking of buying a roaster oven like this one to cook the turkey myself every year. Our local grocery store always throws in a free turkey with purchase this time of year. Plus, I'd free up oven space as our house has only one oven ("cook's kitchen", yeah right!).

Has anyone used one? Does it actually brown the turkey?

TIA!

I fell for the roaster and the FREE turkey deal a few yrs ago.....used the roaster for the ham it turned out OK but the roaster was so HUGE I'd thought that I'd use it for big batches of chili an to take food to some of our pot lucks when I needed large amounts of food. Then there was the cleaning issue not the easiest thing to clean either.

Tried all of the above it was just to big to heavy to carry around an then there was the storage problem of where to store the roaster between thanksgivings since it was to heavy to use any other time along with to big it was to heavy once filled with food to move it. I soon decided that the best place to store the roaster was at someone elses house an got rid of it.

I went back to roasting ham an turkey in the oven ham usually fits in 1 of my 9x13 pans an turkey I buy a throw away roaster pan an turkey bag an throw away when done. Usually roast the turkey then the ham while the turkey is resting an getting carved.

Just got a nice GE 18 qt. roaster oven for T-giving as we are going to son & DIL's & doing the turkey & ham....lots of people have told me it works great...we definitely need the option of having the regular oven for all the extras "fixins" with our holiday meal. My big turkey roaster hogs the whole oven. New electric roaster will be very easy to store, carry, & plug in on their countertop.
