Rita's Italian Ice - Anyone else addicted?

I used to work at Rita's.

My favourite flavours are cookies-n-cream and vanilla chip. I love the Misto with vanilla custard and either vanilla or cookies-n-cream ice.

For the above poster who doesn't like the cherry bits in the cherry ice, the sugar-free cherry tastes the same and doesn't have the cherry bits.

Berry Banana and Citrus Blast are both being retired after this season, so if you like those flavours, stock up now!

Today is Ritas day for us. Last week we learned that they have "double punch Tuesday" which means that they double-punch your frequent buyer card. When you're buying for a family of 4, plus maybe a friend or 2, that's over a whole card punched.

Maybe that will give you all an excuse to go today also!

Recently weaned myself off gelatis and shakes because I'm kind of watching what I eat. Now I just get plain ice and as a result, Rita's trips are way cheaper. Although that custard....mmmmmmmmmm!

I'm not sure if everywhere is doing this, but ours introduced a new flavor each month. It was Sweet Tea, then Georgia Peach, and now Key Lime for July. I loved the first two and haven't gotten to try the Key Lime yet! Dh's favorite is strawberry and they are almost consistently out of it by the time we go in the evenings.

When you buy the quarts, do they stay the same consistency in your freezer? I've never bought any, because I figured it would turn into a block of ice.

That was me. What do they use as a sweetener if it is sugar free? I can't have any artificial sweeteners.

It does freeze up but all you have to do is let it thaw for a few minutes (or stick it in the microwave for a few seconds according to the instructions on the package) and the ice turns back to the consistency you get when you buy it fresh. Quarts are only $3.99!

I finished up the Key Lime last nite but still have most of the Strawberry-Kiwi left. If it is double punch day here then I think DS1 and I need to head to Rita's!

My favorite is the Blueberry. I also really like the summer Sweet Tea flavor! But honestly, I have yet to meet a Rita's flavor that I didn't like.

Some locations are open year round, especially those in malls and strip malls. If you go to their website, you can see if there is a 365 location anywhere near you!
