Rise of the Resistance to utilize normal queue starting Sept 23.

Yes this is us. We only go once every 2-3ish years and haven’t ridden ROTR yet. We go as a party of 2 (just me and my daughter) so I will pay the $24 a person to ride it once during our trip. The thought of the VQ gave me anxiety because I knew if we didn’t get one we wouldn’t have a chance for another few years.
Rise of the Resistance is an attraction you don't want to miss.

If you have never been, it's worth the $24. The first time I was on it, I thought it was the best attraction ever! It's more than just a ride. It's an experience.

People who like this better than the lottery...well now it will be a lottery where if you win you get to pay. No way the paid LL doesn't sell out quick each day imo. And the standby line will be long and slow no matter what; this is one of the lowest capacity big rides out there.
A ticket to a popular event (concert, sporting event....) is underpriced if it sells out quickly. If $24 lightning passes sell out in minutes the next day pricing might be $49

Does everyone really think the standby line will be 5, 6, 8, hours long? That just doesn't make sense to me. Flight of Passage, the most comparable attraction, doesn't have wait times that long - certainly not regularly.
Prior to the closure, FOP regularly saw 3-hour waits. I recall seeing the sign display "240 minutes" a few times, and this was not during holidays.

I'm not saying it'll NEVEr hit 4 hours, but I jsut don't think that will be that common. 90 minutes is a far cry from 5 or 6 hours!
I’m sorry I must of said something wrong. I was guessing 4 hours in the beginning as in the first week or so (?) then down but LL will keep regular stand by up. It’ll be rare to go below 90 like FoP, but I am definitely not an expert. I definitely agree with you over four hours will not be common. And I don’t think it’ll ever hit 6. These are all just my personal guesses. And like I said I am no expert.

Because of the use of the word “pause” and the references to the VQ possibly returning from time to time, this goes into the wait and see category for me. I wonder if this is being done because of system work they are doing to prepare for Genie+, IAS, and a VQ for Ratatouille.

If standby is the only way to access ROTR for a week or two or more, the waits might not be much different than they are now for something like FOP. People who have done ROTR a few times already might choose to take advantage of shorter rope drop lines at other attractions while others join the stampede to ROTR.

I won’t be at all surprised if the return of the VQ coincides with the introduction of IAS, and this becomes just a brief blip in history like the week several years ago when TSMM was FP only for a week during the construction of the third track. The fears that that was a first step toward the imminent elimination of standby and implementation of a reservation only ride system were not realized.

This is exactly how I feel.

We get to Disney on Sept. 24, and our first HS day is the 26th. So I guess we'll be one of the early guinea pigs.
I get to The World Sept 21. Have a reservation for DHS on the 22. Looks like I'll be among the last to use lottery.
Then DHS again on the 27th - right after you.
Gonna be interesting....

I gotta say as a very infrequent visitor (last visit over 10 yes ago), I will pay to shorten the line if it's 4 hours. I look at it like this how many other places do I go and spend stupid amounts of money on things like dinners, sporting events etc. If this ride is supposedly one of the best ever it makes that cost worth it. My question are they going to have a single rider line that would be awesome.

Without spoilers it is an experience that IMO doesn’t lend itself to a single rider line.

This is really going to affect mine (and probably everyone's) rope drop strategy. The "problem" with Hollywood Studios is that there are a LOT of big e-ticket attractions. So at rope drop do you head to RotR, SR, MMRR, SDD, RRC, or ToT? There are a lot of big decisions to make. I'll be interesting to see what everyone does and what does or doesn't work once this starts happening, and once Genie+ starts. Sorry to those with late September or early October trips! Like someone said above, you are our guinea pigs!

I also wonder if this means Remy will still have a virtual queue? I'm assuming yes. As of recently Disneyland and CA Adventure each had virtual queues for RotR and Spider-Man, so the system can handle two virtual queue sign ups at the same time. I anticipate Remy to be popular, like any new attraction, but I don't see it being bigger than RotR for multiple reasons.

3 years ago, “It’s a half day park”

I think it's cool, but also if it helps to pay.... this was one of the attractions I was willing to pay for lightening lane.

That's funny, the first time we rode it (family of 4) - my kids basically looked at us at the end and said. It was alright.

The last trip we almost didn't even try for a boarding group, but we've had 4 trips with at least 8-10 times at HS, no issues getting a boarding group.

I do agree with the person who said it will free up other rides. At our local amusement park which has many top eTicket roller coasters, many lines of great rides are way shorter because there is always something newer and better.

This will be interesting. My partner and I will be in HS 9/21 and then again on 9/23 on our private VIP tour. So we’ll see those opening day lines….

So in all seriousness what is Disney’s plan when after a 3+ hour wait the ride goes down? Because there will be a ton of angry guests without some guest recovery steps in place…
My thoughts exactly! This ride is down so often. Imagine having waited for 2-3 hours and have it go down and being told “sorry, no recovery for standby”. Glad we have gotten to ride it before all this 💩 hit the fan.

Flight of Passage, the most comparable attraction, doesn't have wait times that long - certainly not regularly. I just don't see the line being 6 hours long and people deciding to get in it, pushing it higher. It's going to crest somewhere, and yeah, that may be a few hours at the busiest times, but it's not like it's going to be constant. We'll see I guess.
I don't. I have risen rise once by VQ. I wake up everyday at around 4 to 5. Was easy for me to be ready for the VQ but I hated it. We stay DVC and will be let in half hour early. We will go do TSL and just pay for RoR IF we want to ride it. I probably won't. It is not nearly the ride of FoP. Not even close. I will probably buy the boys a ride this coming trip though as they haven't ridden it. I am probably one of the few that hopes Remy doesn't have a VQ. I know it will though because there aren't as many rides in Epcot.

I'm going to zig when everyone zags. I will be staying onsite and will pay for the LL.

Heres the plan assuming 7:30 early entry 8:00am park opening:

Schedule ROTR LL for 9-10 am.
Book Genie + for MFSR for 8-9 am.
At 7:30 rope drop everyone is heading to ROTR we head to SDD and then TSMM and complete toy story land with AlienSS.
Once that is done head to Genie + lane for 8-9am MFSR and immediately book next available of the three ToT, RRC, or MMRR.
Finish riding MFSR head to ROTR.
Finish riding ROTR head to Genie + lets assume MMRR and immediately book next available ToT or RRC.
Finish riding MMRR head to Genie + lets assume ToT and immediately book RRC.
Ride Genie + RRC.

I have been been in the queue of ROTR after getting a boarding group at Disneyland and had the ride go down twice. Ruined the whole day. Never again.
