Hi Everyone,
I know some people have asked about the vow renewal onboard DCL. I thought I would review it here for anyone interested.
We sailed on the Western Magic 10/21 and booked our vow renewal approx 9 months out. It was an additional $1000 that was added to our total amt and was due 90 days prior to sailing. We did not have to put down a deposit at the time we booked. We had a wedding coordinator thru Fairy Tale Weddings that we worked with prior to sailing.
The $1000 included the ceremony performed by the Capt, cake and cake topper, champagne toast, pianoist, flowers, certificate signed by the Capt, dress steaming, dinner at Palo (they covered the $10/pp fee, we paid the tip), champagne and strawberries in our room, turn down service with rose petals, an 8 x 10 of our choice and wedding coordinator services. The sent invitations to our guests (our family that was sailing with us). The fee was for 8 guests, and additional guests were $10/pp.
Jennifer, at Fairy Tale Weddings was able set up our Palo ressies and hair appt prior to sailing and took care of all of our additional requests. We had a book of choices... flowers, songs for the reception, cake flavors, etc, that we had to send to her a couple of months prior.
Once onboard, Marc (wedding coordinator) and Arnaldo (groups manager/conceige) took over and really bent over backwards to make everything special. They were there for anything we needed... including making excursion ressies, changing Palo brunch ressies and even finding my dh some cold medicine (Thanks, Marc!). They sent treats to our room almost daily... cheese platters, fruit baskets and trays, dessert trays, etc. We received a tote with two robes, a memory box and a limited edition wedding pin. We were also allowed to make our onboard reservations/excursions 105 days prior, rather than 75, which was very nice.
Our ceremony was on Thurs. I met with Arnaldo on Monday to review the ceremony, music choices, where to have the ceremony (it was originally going to be on deck 7 aft, but it was too hot and windy so we ended up in Sessions) and cake style. He had a book of different style cakes and we chose a simple style and altered the decorations a bit.
The day prior to the ceremony, Marc sent the itinerary to our room as to when he would deliver the flowers, pick us to to take us to Sessions, etc. He arrived the next day, on time, to deliver the flowers and later, escorted my dh to the ceremony. When they were ready, Arnaldo came to escort me and our children to the ceremony and took us in the back door. My kids walked me in and Capt Tom performed a short service, to reaffirm our vows. Sessions was closed to anyone else, so it was just us and our guests. After the service, we were given champagne, took lots of pictures and had our "first dance". We cut the cake and enjoyed just visiting with our family. Sessions was decorated with flowers and ribbons and the cake table looked beautiful. The cake was delicious too and it was a lot of cake for just our small group. We ended up giving some to the staff in Sessions, shared some with disboard friends (hi Tinkerfun and Hank56) and sent a huge chunk up to the kids club CM's. The top portion was sent up to Palo for us to have with dinner but neither of us had much room after eating. I chose the tropical bouquet and it was gorgeous!!! It included lillies, orchids and roses and the flowers lasted about 1 week.
There wasn't a photographer at the ceremony. You could pay an additional $85 to have someone there and then pick your own pictures ala carte, or you could purchase a package. We did neither.
Overall, the price was a bit high, but I would do it again in a minute. We had so many extras that made it really special and it was a great day for us. Marc and Arnaldo were really great and made everything perfect. I don't think I've forgotten anything, but if you have any questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them.
