Apologies if this is not appropriate to this forum, but I thought there might be better insights here than the main planning forum. Please move if necessary.

My wife has spent most of this year fighting cancer. She's completely clear now, done with chemo, and ready for a vacation. We'll be spending a couple of days at WDW during the vacation.

She does very well walking distances, but does get more fatigued than she used to, and sooner. So my question is, is there a good list or map or whatever of good resting places in the parks? Benches, counter service restaurants with seating, that type of thing.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If she actually wants to lie down, you can't beat First Aid; there is one in each park.
People think of it for accidents and unexpected unjuries, but it is also appropriate to go there just to lie down for a while. There are cots in either individual rooms or in cubicles with privacy curtains. The staff are very nice and they understand that sometimes people need to lie down. You don't need anything special; just go in and tell them you need to rest. They will write that down in a log because they need to keep a record of the services people used First Aid for.

Most of the counter service restaurants make good places to sit and rest for a while, as long as you avoid mealtimes. One that might be best to avoid would be Cosmic Rays between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. An audioanimatronic space character does a show. It can be cute, but a bit annoying if you are trying to rest.
Another possibility is to leave the park and go to a nearby resort. You can easily take a boat or monorail to one of the MK area resorts. The lobbies of all of them are furnished with comfortable couches and chairs. There are also outdoor areas where you can sit down and rest.

The last thing you might want to consider is whether using a stroller or wheelchair will help to conserve her energy so she has more energy for fun things. Post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread has information about renting them.

MK -
-Once you enter MK, Near "City Hall" there is a covered walkway between the firehouse and City Hall with Benches.
-Near Crystal Palace (Near First Aid)
-on the way to Tomorrowland going the "back way" which is to cut down the street at the MK Bakery there are steel chairs/tables.
-The Tomorrowland Transit Authority has a "moving sidewalk" up to the "ride" you can sit and relax.
-There are benches along the sidewalks in Frontierland

EPCOT -
-Spaceship Earth is a good "sit down and relax" ride.
-There are benches near each bathroom.
-Benches if you walk through Innovations west.
-Electric Umbrella CS Restaurant
-Sunshine Seasons inside the Land Pavilion
-In China, there is a "garden", the same with Japan.
-Morroco, there are benches in the front and back of the pavilion.

DHS -
-Benches along the sidewalks near Prime Time Cafe
-Some near Brown Derby
-Great Movie Ride is a sit down, but it involves some loud evasive action scenes.
-Near Tower of Terror, there is a CS restaurant, not sure as to what the name is but it is shaded and has seats.

AK-
-Benches in the courtyard before entering the park.
-Tusker house (Africa) has outdoor seating
-Camp Minnie Mickey (Lion King or Pocohantas show)
-Flights of Wonder (bird show - lots of seats, limited showtimes though)

WDW is full of parking spots like rocks, benches and planters. It has been ten years but my favourite spot at Epcot was setting in some flower garden near the front. All around the Tree of Life in AK is setting spots where you can watch local wild waterbirds as well as people. I loved the lunch at the Lotus Blossom Cafe in Epcot because the side was open and birds would come to visit, very nice. Sunshine Seasons in the Land was a nice place to park and indoors. I never got booted for just parking.

Toluca Legs Co. near the Tower of Terror. Large area full of tables where one can go off in a corner and rest. They had a wild water bird begging for food, lol.

At Disneyland we have something that I found and loved very much.
Casey's Corner that has a piano player at times, lots of parking spots, and counter service. I wonder if they still have them yummy hot dogs. At WDW's Main Street it was like being home again.

There is a list of restaurants and menus there. There are so many indoor and outdoor restaurants to choose from.

There are tons of photos there that show you the parks with pictures from a Dis member.

AK bench, lol

By the way, that bench is made from... recycled soda bottles, I think? Recycled product, for sure :teeth:

Outstanding information, folks. Thanks!

If you decide to leave the park to rest when you are at MK then I would suggest The Polynesian. They have a lovely lobby and plenty of comfortable seating areas. Its is very restfull sitting listening to the waterfalls.
