Restaurants that are no more

Again, gone in this area but might live on somewhere else ... Bennigans.

I think there might be one somewhere in my city still...not near me, though. They make the BEST Monte Cristo!

Farrells, Father's Gay Nineties, Beef Steak Charlies, and Chi Chis.

Father's Gay Nineties was a an old time ice cream parlor that had really unusual sundaes, including one that came in an actual row boat. :rotfl2:

There might be a few around somewhere else ... but not one around here ... Roy Rogers. Remember the barrels made into seats that you'd sit on?

Again, gone in this area but might live on somewhere else ... Bennigans.

Tons of Roy Rogers in this area! Bennigans here too.

just thought of another: Ground Round

you'd get a basket of both peanuts in the shell, as well as popcorn and you were expected to toss the shells onto the floor (early 70s)

can't remember what i ate there - just remember the peanut shells!

Ground Round here as well.

I miss Jack in the Box...it was cheap and close to school for lunch breaks.

I ate at Jack in the Box last year on the way from Bloomington, IL back to St. Louis.

In Raleigh, they've closed down:

Houlihan's - best stuffed mushrooms
Bennigan's - my daughter loved their monte cristo
Papa Lou's - yummy onion rings

Houlihan's here too!

I remember Rax too, must be a Columbus thing;)

We had Rax here in Nashville...I was very young so I don't remember the food, though.

FYI...did you know that Columbus has more restaurants than anywhere else in the United States? I used to work for an ad agency and we had several restaurant clients...they based a lot of their research on Columbus because of the vast # and variety of chain restaurants there.

I remember Rax. they had them when I was a kid in Florida. Taco Viva? I think it was was also a favorite. My ex misses his Chi-Chi's fajitas. I miss our Bahama Breeze- as do all of our friends and family. However, their are still a few open. My cousin taunted me with how she went while she was in Orlando last week..... MMM Bahama Breeze....

I miss Jack in the Box...it was cheap and close to school for lunch breaks.

How about Godfather's Pizza?? I miss their lunch buffet.

We have a bunch of Jack in the Box around here...all fairly new (within the last 10 years or so).

I LOVED Godfather's Pizza. They had the best, butteriest, flakiest crust!

Rax, Chi Chi's, Farrell's, Arthur Treachers Fish and Chips.

I also remember York Steakhouse. We had one in Eastland Mall. I was sad when it closed.

I miss Jacks, though there are some I still think down soth, I think they are but a greasy taco memory to NYC.

also KRYSTAL BURGER.....in OCALA....we always stopped on the way to and from Gator games...gotta have my Krystal fix you know...now, it is no more!

My absolute favorite as a little girl was Burger Chef. Was that a chain? My mom said I loved it because they had a fixin's bar and I could make my burger however I wanted it. I remember loving their shakes too! They closed by the time I turned 5 but I STILL remember loving that place!

I remember Whattaburger too. And D'Lites (great concept...WAY before it's time, which I think is why it failed). And Judy Judy Judy. I was too young to remember any of their food, but I do remember the restaurants.

I got one!!! (Don't shoot me if I have the name off by a bit - I was little when they went under)

LUM's Roast Beef (??? It was a chain in New England - my dad wouldn't take us anywhere else.)

Lums was a hot dog place.

Before I read too much and forget what I was gonna say.. LOL

Del TACO
Bobs Big Boy
Bonanza

(and what about those McDonalds that had the big pirate ship in the center with seats and the Hamburgler and such)

Hmm..
Are there still Wiener Schnitzels? See...I grew up in California, but now live in Georgia..so its totally different chains anyways..

My parents met at Sambos 40 yrs ago when my mom waitressed there...

Most Shoneys are about gone out here....

Hmm..I'm sure I"ll think of more :)

THere are tons of Little Caesar's in Wisconsin. We go every once in a while because the pizza's are all only $5 now. It's not as good as I remember as a kid though. We also have a Shakey's I went there once for DS's friends b-day party and it was pretty gross. Maybe they used to be better??

I had my 7th birthday party at Ground Round lol. I remember my grandma slipped on the peanut shells and my aunt had to take her to the hospital:eek: They used to have those sundaes that they served in a little plastic baseball helmet. They just closed the last one around here about 5 years ago.

Oh man! I was just talking about Chi Chi's the other day! I loved when you would start the meal with the chips and salsa then be too full to eat your dinner. And the fried ice cream, yum!'

And could I miss Swiss Chalet any more.... :sad2:

I really miss Magic Pan (crepes) Yum!

We have a ton of Godfather's here. Probably because it started in Omaha.
