Restaurants that are no more

Dang..I had another on the tip of my tongue and I forgot it as I was reading...
but..I did think of a few more

Everyone is saying "Shakeys" which I of course remember, but what about Round Table Pizza?

And...Sizzler.. I'm sorry... but this Western' Sizzlin place they have in the south IS NOT the same!!

In Southern Cal I remember we used to eat at a place called JD Subs all the time....

And Dennys are closing like crazy....

We still have Little Cesars& Don Pablos here in Atl.. and I know they have Jack in the Box in Northern Cal.

OHH...I remember ...

A&W Rootbeer Stands... Those were the BEST!!!

My Mom would tak us to Chi-Chis during happy hour we would eat the chips and she would have a margarita!! (She was a young widow at the time with 4 small kids I would have needed a drink once in a while too) We also frequented Rax a bit-- they had a buffet? salad bar at the time--nothing better!!!

Still tons of Jack in the box here and I think even a Del-Taco in the city by Wash U and a Little Ceasars opened up a short time ago although it is nothing like the Pizza Pizza they had 10 yrs ago!!

I used to love a place in the Southern Park Mall in Youngstown oh where I grew up called the York steakhouse. I don't know if it was a chain or not, but I loved it!

When I saw the title of the thread that is the first place I thought of! We had one at Ridgedale in suburban Minneapolis. I still remember it was downstairs in the JCPenney part of the mall. I think Southdale had one too. Not sure about the other two dales. But it was definitely a chain.

Szechuan Express in the Uptown area of Minneapolis is another place I miss. They also had one in Bloomington but it wasn't as good. They had the best Schezhuan beef I have EVER had. It tasted different than what you usually get and I miss it. :sad1:

I miss Chi Chi's too. But it recent years it got so bad, I'm not surprised it closed.

We have Jack-in-the-Box here in South Louisiana, but OMG! I'm still upset that they took Teriyaki Bowls off the menu.

Krystal Burger and Whattaburger are still alive and well down here too.

There are Little Cesar's around here, also.

I had never heard of Rax before so I looked it up on Wikipedia. Interesting history.

There was still a Chi-Chi's operating in Okemos, MI before we moved down to Florida 3 years ago. They always had good food unlike some of the other Chi-Chi's we went to over the years.

Someone mentioned Magic Pan. YUM!

Bill Knapp's. We always went there on Sundays when I was a child and I had vegetable soup, biscuits and the "elephant" from the kid's menu.

:thumbsup2 I loved the peanuts. The Ninety Nine? is now in the building that the Ground Round used to be in. No comparison. I loved the Ground Round, hate Ninety Nine. Yuck.
There was Lums. I think it was a national chain, not sure.

I was a very bad girl at Lums and my mother took me outside and spanked me..Now Lums is a hooters

Our Shoney's and Denny's closed also :( Really disappointed about no 1 am Denny's runs- Ihop is just not the same.
You know. . . alot of the Shoney's closed down here too. The only one I know of still open is on I-49 at Natchitoches, LA. It is the central part of LA.

My absolute favorite as a little girl was Burger Chef. Was that a chain? My mom said I loved it because they had a fixin's bar and I could make my burger however I wanted it. I remember loving their shakes too! They closed by the time I turned 5 but I STILL remember loving that place!
.

There was one here when I was a kid

We still have one of those around here.

Our Godfather's closed recently though.

Do they still have Rocky Rococo's (sp?) anymore?

There was one here when I was a kid

We had Burger Chef too...They had the Burger Chef and Jeff commercials!!

We would go there for dinner every Friday night for dinner because Mom didn't cook on Friday's. I think Hardees bought them out.

I miss Farrell's, and the best egg burritos ever at Naugles (was a chain in Southern California, don't know if it extended beyond). They got bought out by Del Taco, and the egg burritos haven't been the same since. :sad1: ;)

I also remember Shakey's Pizza. We used to go there for "bunch-a-lunch", I think it was an all-you-can-eat buffet for like $5. Not just pizza, but fried chicken, salad and those Mojo potatoes.:rotfl:

There used to be a little chain of Mexican fast food places in the Denver area called Taco Cabana. They were pretty good. I don't know why they all disappeared.

We still have Bennigan's here in Colorado as well.

Hmm..
Are there still Wiener Schnitzels? See...I grew up in California, but now live in Georgia..so its totally different chains anyways..

:rotfl2: I remember when we got one of those in the 70s. For East Texas, it was very exotic. :lmao: I loved the polish sausage hot dogs.

We also had something called Alvin Ord's. It was like Schlotsky's Sandwich Shop, but the "mascot" was a bald monk in long robes. I actually liked it better than Schlotsky's. I think there may be just a few left in the US and I haven't seen one in years. Yum.....

Ooooh...yeah. LOVED their square pizza! Remember the little character..."Pizza! Pizza!"

WE still have Little Ceasars here and there's an A&W opening soon--but I doubt it'll be like the old fashioned ones

I had no idea Farrell's was a national chain, I thought there were just a few in the NY/NJ area.

I remember there being a Victoria's Station in East Brunswick NJ

There was a Geno's in the town I grew up in, I remember nothing about it other than the name and that it was replaced by a KFC

Bennigans are all over the place here and I run into a Roy Rogers every once in a while. Generally at the rest stop on a highway.

I miss Chi Chi's too...the one in Okemos, MI that someone mentioned has been gone quite awhile. I loved their Pollo Magnifico :lovestruc Then they changed their menu and didn't have it anymore. :(

I remember Burger Chef too when I was a kid.

We still have a Bennigan's nearby, and Little Caesar's too.

I remember Duff's Smorgasboard, where they had the food on a big round turntable and you stood in one spot and waited for it to turn...I always thought that was so much fun.

I really miss Magic Pan (crepes) Yum!

Me too...I loved eating at Magic Pan. It was a big deal to get to go there when I was little. It was 40 min away (probably longer than that because 575 didn't exist then) and cost more than we usually spent on eating out in a month.
