We're gonna be at WDW for 2 weeks this summer so we have some time to visit a few of the resorts. Can anybody tell us which resorts have the best pools? And is there anywhere safe to leave stuff like keys if you use the pool?

Can I be the first to jump in here, (pun intented). Even if staying onsite the practice of 'pool hopping' ie visiting pools at resorts at which you are not staying is against Disney rules.

The best resort pool is the one for which you have paid to use. With few exceptions, the resort pools at WDW are for the EXCLUSIVE USE of guests staying at each particular resort.

If you do have a desire to pack all of your stuff just to go to another pool, a great alternative would be a day at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. Both are more elaborate than any resort pool. Have fun!:)

And some of the resorts check the resort IDs of those who are using the pool. It'd be kind of embarrassing to be asked to leave, I think. I've seen some pretty red-faced people packing their stuff at the WL pool after a guard told them to leave.

You're welcome to visit other resorts and shop, dine, rent boats, walk around, etc. Disney encourages this. But pools are only for the use of resort guests. The pools are built to accommodate those who stay at that resort, and are simply not big enough to handle a whole bunch of extra people.

Edited to add: pool hopping is permitted in certain circumstances:

1. If you're staying at one of the All-Star resorts, you may use any of the pools at any of the All-Star resorts.

2. If you're staying at POR, you can use the pool at POFQ. If you're staying at POFQ, you can use the pool at POR.

3. If you're a DVC member, staying on points, you can use any resort pool except SAB at YC/BC, and the pool at AK.

As the PP said, unless you are a DVC member staying on points, you cannot pool hop, except for between sister resorts like POR and POFQ and between the All-Stars if you are staying there.

Pick a resort with a good pool for your trip, since Disney wants you to "Play where you Stay"! :thumbsup2

RandomPrince, you have 252 posts. You haven't read any of the threads where people are flamed for pool hopping! Do a search man. :hippie:
I did pool hop once,(CSR quiet pool) before I knew it was a no-no, years ago. :guilty:
I have seen people embarrased being asked for ID and having to leave the pool.
Have a great 2 weeks!:wizard:

You're in UK, you just got back 11 days ago and you'll be back in two weeks?? Want to adopt me???
Anyway....pool hopping is not allowed. Can you get away with it? Sure, some people do. But, do you want to violate the posted rules at each pool? Do you want to take the chance that you will be asked, randomly, for resort ID to prove you are allowed to be at that particular pool and then being asked to leave if you can not show the ID?
Sorry, you can check out the other resorts, but stay out of their pools. There are guests that have paid to use that pool and they don't look favorably upon those who 'pool crash'!!

The rules have been stated- let's let it go - please!

I do not think this thread had got out of hand why the plea to let it go.

It is not out of hand - but how many times does the OP need to be told the same rule? Feels a little like piling on to me - this is just Trekker the poster (not the mod) posting my opinion.

OK but if you read all the posts you will see that each has added something not just the same posting of the rules. Although I will agree that Pool Hopping is one of those subjects which have in the past have a reputation on the DIS

I can't speak for all the mods but yes on topics like this we all tend to look in on them.

I also look at threads where I can contribute also just like the other mods do.

Rest assured the resort board is in good hands.

We've gone to the Poly every year for the past 6 years and I have never been asked to show my resort i.d. at the pool. I've never even seen anyone being asked to do so. I've always thought that they should definitely do it though. It's rare that I've actually seen a family that was obvious pool hoppers but I'm sure it happens.

To answer OP's question....

I don't think there are any lockers to keep your stuff in....

I only carry my key to the world....I put it in my bathing suit....

I always leave my stuff on chair......ie...coverups...
hats, eyeglasses...etc....only once did someone move it....

some poor CM....got an earful from me.....I couldn't see....
I thought my glasses were gone:scared1:

I literally went in the pool for 10 minutes....and the towel girl
took my towel....
then someone else took my eyeglasses and coverup to lost and found....

This "big" girl was not happy running around the pool....
blind....looking for my stuff:lmao:
Have Fun
Kerri

Sorry if that was me! I think Lynne M was editing her post as I posted - I thought I was adding new info with the DVC and sister resorts exception. Sorry for the duplication of info! :goodvibes
