Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

I think I need to join....I have changed our reservation so many times since January that I lost track of the # :confused3

We are definately settled now....WL 1bd Villa from Nov 7th - 14th. I changed my time off at work, and I am going to buy the MVMCP tickets, so there will be no going back now.

However, we are going atleast twice next year....imagine the changes I could make for those....:rotfl2:

I definitely need to join this club! At least, I know that you all will totally understand what I'm going through! ;)

So, its not enough that I haven't even gone on the trip in December...now, I'm planning a trip in June '11 to celebrate both of my sons graduations (one son is graduating from college and the other is graduating from High school). Its been 10 years since we visited WDW as a family - I can't even believe that! But, I do live in CA, so we go to DL every year at least once or twice...so, I get my Disney 'fix'! :thumbsup2

This June trip is where the MAJOR resort changing is going on! I would really like to honor my youngest DS's request of AKV...and I really want to try to do a split stay again...maybe with BLT, or with CSR because we will be commando touring for the first few days...We are also going to stay on-site at US/IOA at HRH or RPH...haven't decided if we will do that before WDW or after...

BTW...did I mention that our first trip to WDW in 2001, we stayed at 5 hotels? We flew in late from CA...I didn't want to spend $$ on HRH, so we stayed at the Doubletree Castle Hotel for 1 night, HRH 2 nights, AKL 2 nights, Beach Club 3 nights, and the Hyatt at MCO for 1 night. Yeah, I am completely crazy! :lmao:

Yep, I need some serious intervention here!

TIA for any help to keep me from doing a repeat of my last family trip to WDW! :)

So, my DH just said...'there's no way we are doing more than 2 hotels for our trip'...he refuses to go to more than 1 WDW resort this trip and 1 Universal resort (we are planning on staying a few nights at US/IOA to get FOTL). UGHHHHH! There go my plans of doing a split stay at WDW! :rolleyes1

Now that DH has stated his opinion...and he really does mean it...I can't go on with my plans of a split stay in WDW. Oh, what to do???

I think we're going to go to AKL/AKV for sure now...my youngest DS wants to stay at AKL/AKV and we are doing this trip as a graduation trip for him and my oldest DS.

So, now, I get to play the which AKV game...Kidani AKV or Jambo AKV or 2 rooms at AKL-Jambo. :lmao:

Ok, we have joined the club.
10/23 All Star Sports Preferred AP rate
10/24 - 10/31 Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas (renting with DVC owner)
10/31 - Boardwalk Villas Studio (renting from DVC owner)

We are happy to get to stay in the Treehouse..

I definitely need Help!! OH MY GOODNESS....I am waffling again!! Pass on the syrup, I sure need it!!! :lmao:

Currently booked for FEB Beach Club Lagoon View Club Level. FEB 5-10, 2011
I have been looking at the Poly lately for the ease of transportation, rave reviews, monorail convenience, CLub level, wishes on the beach, hawaii feel....yada, yada, yada.....You all know what I mean, I am sure! :lovestruc
I have never stayed at either BC or POLY...only experienced AKL CL and we :lovestruc 'd that place!!!
I can get a room at POLY, Garden View Club level for $200.00 LESS than what I currently have Beach Club booked at!!!
What would you do!!! :confused3
I could use some guidance!! I am going crazy with this resort-waffling infliction!!! :scared1:

ETA: You can all probably see by my new ticker....I made the plunge and changed!!! I hope we love the POLY as much as so many others seem to! Excited to try it!

I definitely need to join this club! At least, I know that you all will totally understand what I'm going through! ;)

I am going to WDW with my mom and sister this coming December to celebrate my mom's 75th birthday...well, that's where the resort changer saga starts...

We were originally going to go to DL one last time before my AP expires...then...it was, "well, if we want to go to DL, maybe we should just go to WDW instead!" :lmao:

So, we booked CBR, then switched to CSR (after seeing that they had Queen beds instead - and normal looking bedspreads!)...FD package!! yippee! We're going to WDW! :dance3:

Then, the room only discount became available...mom and sister didn't want to be 'tied down' with having free dining!! :confused3 (I don't get that, but, ok...)

So, ok, we'll switch our FD package at CSR to room only discount, no biggee...wrong...

No rooms available for our dates at CSR for room only...dang it! So, we're back to CBR with room only and NO free dining! :rotfl2:

I think I'm done changing for my December trip...I don't think my mom could handle anymore changes...so, I'm going to leave it alone (although, I have looked into switching to WLV, BWV, OKW & BLT :lmao:)

So, its not enough that I haven't even gone on the trip in December...now, I'm planning a trip in June '11 to celebrate both of my sons graduations (one son is graduating from college and the other is graduating from High school). WOW.....I just got back and.....WOW...my head is spinning...:goodvibes Breath in.....breath out.....Major waffles here! I would do US/IOA before Disney. That is what we do. It is easier to rent a car at the airport and return it once you are on Disney Property at the Dolphin. We stay at the RPH and we love it. (Of course we switched from HR first....lol) We are big fans of free dining but we are staying at either CR, AKV, BC, or BLT next year (yep, got it narrowed down to 4 already....:scared1:) so we may be going for room discount and purchasing the dining plan. AKV would be my choice if I were you. We loved Kidani last year. (of course we were booked at SSR but changed AFTER check-in) :scared1:

OHHH NOOO CHIMO!!! I thought we had discussed this.....:goodvibes You simply must do BC....because I want to do BC.....:lmao: but...I think if I could get Poly garden club at $200 less...I would change too! As you will soon see, I have my first 2011 dilemma.....whoa is me... We did stay at the WL this year, but we changed rooms twice...:scared1:

Okay, I booked CR before I left on Aug. 26th for our trip. I was very happy to get the free dining and the CR room category I wanted.....My DS(15) has been dying to stay at the CR for years. Fastforward....

Our room at the WL was entirely too small. My DH suggested that we book BLT because we loved the transportation of MK but we wanted more room, washer dryer...etc. So.....changed to BLT...Still CR, DS(15) is still satisfied. BUT.....

We spent 3 days at Epcot this year and 2 at DHS. We love this area. Our favorite parks are in this area.....my favorite meal this trip was Captains grill and I loved the YC....BC.....YC....do you feel a change coming??? I do.

Yet and Still......we went to dinner at Boma and my DH said "why didn't we stay here this year again?" Mind you, we said book something different in the MK area last year....We love AK/AKV. I missed Kidani but not the commute to our favorite areas.....

Can you smell the waffles cooking???? This may be worse than prior years. I haven't chosen a new ticker because I have no idea where we will be staying. I do know that we will be doing at US/IOA split next year......:faint: I have an entire year of changes coming up..... I feel the changing fever starting....

We did US/IOA first last time...and I've read some other DIS'ers say that it was better to go from having fast passes to the FOTL -- our first trip to Orlando, we really had a hard time going from FOTL to the fast passes at WDW. But, what you said about the car rental is something to think about. However, we will probably keep the car rental the entire time. DH isn't a resort bus kind of guy.

I've got to stick with only 1 WDW resort for this trip...my DH (who really doesn't care where we stay), only had one request -- NO split stay (other than staying at US/IOA resort)! He is serious about this. So, it's now a no brainer...we are going to AKL or AKV! :thumbsup2 Glad to hear that you enjoyed your Kidani visit...its nice to hear yet another endorsement of AKV!

Now, I just need to figure out if we are going to get 2 rooms at AKL or a villa (1 or 2 bed) at AKV. :confused3 My sons are both over 6 feet tall...they really would be much more comfortable having a 'real' bed for 7 nights. Come on June room discounts! :woohoo:

Okay, I can help yo with this. My DS(15) is over 6 ft. The 1br at Kidani was plenty of room. They have the sleeper chair and the sleeper sofa and they were both great in size and comfort. I would go for the villa because during the day you are not in a bed room, but a living area with a full fridge AND a washer and dryer. There is a table that seats 4 and a breakfast bar AND a toaster. We missed having all of the above this year. This is why I have such a dilemma about next year.....

My Oct. trip is gone through many changes since first booked in July.

Started with 5 days at Boardwalk because of Food & Wine was the main reason for going. I realized that we are monorail lovers and we switched to Poly. Then we moved to BLT 1 BR Std. View, but for three days since we added Universal to the trip. I then realized we needed at least 4 nights and we could only add 1 night at BLT in a studio w/Theme Park view. Finally, I was able to book last week BLT 1 BR villa w/ Theme Park View for all 4 nights. Best part is I never lost my AP rate with all these changes.

WHOOO!! I feel a need to stock up on the syrup, :rotfl: StepDisney....you are indeed in the middle of a dilema, and I can so sympathize! :goodvibes When is your trip again??? We are doing US/IOA this trip too....got it pinned down to Portofino Bay Hotel for that portion of our trip and no niggly feelings to move! I admit, I WAS looking forward to trying the BC....Epcot area/DHS is my DS14's favourite parks....but the POLY will give us monorail access, and all the magic that comes with that resort. I am pretty convinced I will stay put (at least for now, :rotfl:) I think it will be my one and only chance to experience the POLY...also saving a couple hundred dollars is nothing to sneeze at, especially with the high resort pricing at Universal right now!!! :scared1: I am hoping that drops some soon!
I would have LOVED to have seen you when we are in the World if our trips co-incide! :) Are you on Facebook?? if so, feel free to add me (search: Marie Buttree) my profile pic is of my DS14 (Andrew) ziplineing in Beautiful BC mountains!
I am also a lover of AKL....actually our family favourite resort...but I really wanted to try something new this trip! I hope you are able to find a resort that will satisfy everyone's "wish list" for your upcoming trip! It definitely is hard to narrow it down sometimes when Disney offers so many wonderful resorts to choose from! :lovestruc
We will be here to listen whenever the waffle urge hits! :thumbsup2

Headed to WDW for our second trip. Previously stayed at AKL and Poly (split stay--don't want to do that again). Because I am travelling alone with DD6 and DS3, I wanted some space that would allow me to relax while the kids rest/nap, and I didn't have to be in the dark.

I started with a reservation at BC with Free Dining, but one day while I was on the phone, the very helpful CM found a great room only discount, that got us a great rate on a 1BR at the BWV. So, I cancelled the BC with Free Dining, and now have a ressie booked in a 1BR at the Boardwalk (BCV was my first choice but unavailable).

However, I kept thinking back to how much I loved the Poly--the big room, looking at the MK, the TTC and Monorail, the EWP outside our patio as we get ready for bed each night and watching the nightly fireworks from the MK... now I also have a ressie at the Poly for a Theme Park View Room. Two reservations--what do I do?:confused3

So now I have this mental list of plusses and minuses for each! BWV has lots of space, laundry in room, full kitchen, and walk to HS and Epcot, not to mention the BW itself and great entertainment value of it. Also, we have never stayed in this area-heck we've never even seen it. But, I keep worrying about the buses (slow and having to share them) and the pool--not zero entry.

Poly--great big room, monorail and TTC, EWP, fireworks from MK each night, great pool that is zero entry, it's familiar and we know we like it. Cons--no space for me to go while kids nap (except outside), no laundry in room, and no kitchen for leftovers, breakfast etc. I know there is a fridge, but it's not as convenient. Also, the poly will cost about $300 more (not a deal breaker, but worth noting).

And the worst part??? I really liked AKL and keep thinking about changing everything again to stay in a SV 1BR at AKL!!!!!:scared1:

Welcome new member. I know exactly how you feel. I have Contemporary booked but keep thinking about BC /YC too......AND I love AKL villas.....Leaning heavily toward a villa next year by the way. I would say keep the boardwalk villa because you will have the most space. Walking to Epcot and DHS is a very big plus in my eyes as is taking the boat if you want. I sorely missed having the washer and dryer this year and refused to go to the laundry at the WL. Last year's Kidani village has officially spoiled me. If you've already stayed at Poly, why not give Boardwalk a shot? Just out of curiosity, what was the great room-only discount? I would change instantly if I could score the 45% off villa discount. I'd change to BC/Boardwalk/AKL/Bay lake....Whichever one came up the best..:thumbsup2:goodvibes

Thank you for the welcome! It's so nice to be among people who understand! :lmao:

As for the room discount--well right now for our week a 1BR villa on WDW website is 4824.79, and I am paying 2273.95. I'm no math major, but it's definately over 50%. I actually just re-checked our confirmation, because that is a smokin' rate! I have no idea how I got it. I just called a few times asking the CM's if there were any room only discount rates attached to our names. Finally, like the 4th time I called, this super CM found this rate and booked the ressie.

Now that I realize what a great deal I have, perhaps I should shut up and enjoy! (but I will so miss the EWP and fireworks at the Poly!)

So I've been gone for a while. So far I've managed not to change the ressie I made for CBR, so can someone tell me why POR keeps calling my name? And why I'm suddenly checking for availabilty on the WDW website?

Help! I am changing my mind so much about what resort to stay at for our January 2011 trip that I haven't made any reservations yet!

We wanted to try something new and had discussed an Epcot area resort, probably YC or BC, hoping for a 4/3 deal. Well, then Disney released both the % off discount and Free Dining discounts for January. Even with the discount I couldn't justify the extra cost of those resorts vs. free dining at a moderate and decided I would book POR. After thinking about it again, I realized that this is our last trip as a family of 4 (DS will be 3 by our next trip), and feel that we should take advantage of it and stay at one of the resorts that only has rooms for 4 people. Combining this with the desire to try a new resort we were left with WL and AKL. I decided on AKL. Then DH says he wants to save some money on this trip and stay at a moderate.

I need to make up my mind soon before none of the resorts I want to stay at are available anymore!

Since your DH is bringing up a budget issue...I think you need to price out all of your options. Would FD be the biggest savings for your family, or would saving $$ on a deluxe or villa?

I would price out the cost of % of the room for all deluxes you are interested in (including a Club level room - which will help with the food budget for breakfast, snacks, etc.)...also price out the Villas (because the % off is great...you can save $$ by having some breakfasts/snacks in your room - which will cut down on your food budget. I think you get way more bang for your buck at the deluxes and villas by using % off room rates. You can purchase tickets at a discount thru UT.

Then price the FD package with tickets...at a moderate. Does your family really need FD?

Hope this helps! Good luck!

I'm back...

Going back and forth over a solo Xmas stay that DH doesn't even know about yet.

I want to stay at the Poly :cloud9: but reason dictates I stay cheaper and go for the POP. But then I think transportation so I think about POR. But POFQ would be better since it's smaller, but I don't like the food court. So then I start dreaming of the Poly again..... :surfweb:
