Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Afternoon all,

I'd pretty much second everything food based that Tigger has mentioned. Any food that is a filling to another food is always a winner!

1. Ham &/or cheese - the makings of a great toastie, panini or sandwich. Especially the latter two because they're hot and tasty. And cheese as the filling in a cheese & onion pie 😋

2. My birthday - I'm fortunate to have a birthday almost right in the middle of the year in June, and I've always been so grateful for a summer birthday!

3. The middle or inside seat on a ride - I hate riding on coasters with 4 seats and sitting on the outside, find it a little off putting. And sitting on the inside of a water ride where you're less likely to get wet... (looking at you Jurassic Park!)

I remember playing a game called Monkey in the Middle when I was a kid.
My DH is a middle child
There was a PSA on TV with a song about the correct way to cross the street that I can still sing :)
"Don't cross the street in the middle in the middle in the middle in the middle in the middle of the block. Use your eyes to look up. Use your ears to hear. Walk up to the corner where the coast is clear. And wait. And wait. Until you see the light turn green"

I’m a bit behind
Nostalgic things from my childhood
Playing games during the summer
So you know we didn’t have a lot of money when I was a kid but during the summer we might get a dollar when we get to go down to a little market at the end of the street and get to spend our dollar and we would get all kinds of little bits of candy and then we will go home and we would play games
Scrabble
Yahtzee
Aggravation I hate that game
The game of life
Card games Pinochle Poker just name a card game we played them all
Cribbage
And we would do this every afternoon during the summer It was great fun
We also had a little swimming pool it was always great fun to be able to go out and fill up the pool it was nothing huge nothing big but it was fun to be able to be in the pool on a hot day you couldn’t do much in it except being it cool off
And we had a garden and it was always great fun to go down there and pick the tomatoes or the cucumbers and have a nice fresh sandwich nothing better than a fresh tomato sandwich or a fresh cucumber sandwich

The middle
That’s a tough one
I’m not big on things that are filled
I don’t like filled donuts I don’t like desserts with filling in them Occasions I will get a cake that has layers of like preserves in them so I do like that
So I will go with ravioli I do love ravioli
I won’t go with my beloved favorite Reese‘s peanut butter cups because I’m really in it for the peanut butter
And then I will say appetizers because technically appetizers are just little things that are filled they’re filled with something

This picture amused me because while our trees don't have color yet here, that is really what the ground looks like 😆 - half my yard is still covered with snow, but I was outside in short sleeves yesterday.

Anyway, inspired by that image...

Today's Topic (Thu, 3/12) - 3 pink things you're grateful for

Middle Things:
Medium coffees
We have mint chip ice cream sandwiches right now, so the middles of those!
The TV show “The Middle” - which DS and used to watch together

Pink Things:
The pajama top I wore last night
A new water bottle I got recently
My towel (I always know which is mine because the boys never take the pink ones.)

Hello, Gorgeous Tank Top - OK, I hope I won't live to regret this gratitude but I literally just bought a new tank top for one of my races this weekend. You're not supposed to use anything new/untested on race day so it's a risk. It's pink and it says "Hello, Gorgeous." It's not a vanity thing. It's a quote from Funny Girl where Barbra Streisand's Fanny Brice character catches herself in the mirror and says that line. One of my nicknames is Babs, so it's really fitting. The pink should also coordinate well with the colors in my lucky charms marshmallow leggings. I've bought three different tops so far and none of them really do it for me with these leggings. I'm hoping this is it.

Running Socks - Balega Silver No Shows are my favorite socks. I now have two separate pairs in the pink family. I'm wearing the brighter ones right now, which are bubblegum pink and magenta. I bought them several years ago for my rD Chesire Cat costume. They are still in great shape. I recently got another pair that's a softer pink combo. One of these two will be on my feet for half marathon #2 of this weekend.

Batting Gloves - DD17 (as well as a ton of kids and pros right now) is a huge fan of Bruce Bolt batting gloves. They are more durable than other brands and they come in a ton of fun patterns and colors. Last summer she got a pair that we dubbed her Sponge Bob gloves due to the color combos and spotting on the yellow parts. I bought her a new pair of those that she was supposed to move into for school ball when I happened to notice that BB was offering deeply discounted mystery bags. I took a chance. Why not? She wound up with a pair that I tried getting her last year that she liked but didn't fit right and had to return. This new pair fits, coincidentally matches her new bat, and is a blend of lavender and hot pink. She decided to give them a try before breaking into the other new ones and while she's had her ups and downs, she's been doing pretty well in them. She's pretty superstitious, so she's going to stick with these pink and purple ones at least until the end of school ball this year. I was just excited to save $40, take a gamble and get something she liked.

Middle things:
Calzones- My favorite are stuffed with just cheese- ricotta and mozzarella- but I also like them with sweet sausage in there, too.
The filling in a Maple Leaf cookie; maple is one of my favorite flavors.
Bubbles, from the PowerPuff Girls: Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. Bubbles was DD's favorite!

Pink things-
Peppermint stick ice cream
The sky during sunset
Pointe shoes

Evening all,

1. Pink lipstick & lip gloss - love a pink lip gloss or lipstick in most shades (although a little too bright or neon doesn't suit me).

2. Dusky pink decor - I have a lot of dusky pink home furnishings, accessories and decor in my lounge as it's one of the colours in my lounge, and I really love the colour. Love dusky pink as a colour in general to be honest, have quite a few items of clothing in it too!

3. Strawberry milkshakes - been craving one of these recently, specifically the McDonald's one!

1. I’m alive.
2. I was able to retrieve my belongings.
3. Thankful for the hardworking staff and police in ODU who made sure me and my peers were safe.
