Resort Change by Disney

Super confused: I have a resort reservation for the Boardwalk Inn for September, since that resort is not opening until October 1st -- do I need to call Disney to change the resort?
I did not receive an e-mail or a call from Disney. Disney needs to release information in a central location with clearer language for guests.

I would love to hear some opinions on FW cabins vs. Caribbean beach. I got changed To FW from French Quarter when I modified my June trip to November. Even with the 35% discount, I will have to pay more $$. With CB opening before my trip, should I change my FW? The things I liked about FQ were the small size and boat to Disney Springs. Not sure what the advantages are for either one of these open resorts because I’ve never been to them.
You will be able to go by boat to Magic Kingdom from FW.
You can also rent a golf cart to drive around the resort. Horseback riding interest you? Bike riding? The best advantage in my opinion is the quick boat ride to MK and the fact you can walk or boat ride to Wilderness Lodge. The food at both places is really good also. I have stayed at FW WL and FQ. and you will definately have a different vacation then planned but you should still be able to enjoy it❤👍

I’m assuming that at the GF only the ppl with the water slides will be open because the NBA will be using the other one. Are both resort Pools going to be open at the Poly and CR?

What time do the phones open up for reservations? We are booked at Music in September so need to see if we can be moved.

I have a hard time believing that Disney would make me pay more if they walk my reservation after giving my room to the NBA... I hope I don’t eat these words tomorrow but I currently find that a hard scenario to imagine.

we are booked at the polynesian beginning on August 7th, with the Floridian not opening until September and AKL not opening until late august, where in the world are they going to put everyone? where could they relocate us to?

It sounds like they will not be moving people any longer You will have to see what is open and pay the difference or cancel.

If you do nothing, they will cancel people within 7 days. If you have a preference, I’d call, because as things book up, it may reduce your options.

Y’all, that wording Carlye posted has been on Disney’s website since they closed in March. We know Disney isn’t the best at changing their info (hello CM who was required to tell me how many dining credits i need for my adr NEXT WEEK). It might not be a reason to get up in arms!! Call and ask but don’t take it as Disney’s sly way of telling you something. That’s giving them to much credit!

There are some posts on the rumors board that now that hotels in each category of values and moderates will be open, they will not be moving people any longer as their are compatible options.

So, what happened before isn’t going to be policy going forward.

I know. I think that’s just giving Disney too much credit. I feel like they just didn’t change their wording and now people are reading into it more than they should. I certainly hope that’s the case.

Now I'm trying to figure out what places will be open at Wilderness Lodge to eat at come September, as I see that is not on the list to open and I have a reservation at the DVC component of it....and then there are the pools....

So Pop on Aug 30 is a go. so that's a relief. Now I need a park hopper refund. Then whenever adr open up. Some progress.

Do you mean that if you are booked in a value or moderate, and one of the other resorts in the same category are open, you will not be moved by Disney and be expected to pay the difference to stay in a resort of the same category? I.e. I’m booked at CBR before they reopen, but I will be expected to pay the difference to move to FW cabins because that’s another “moderate” resort?

Correct. The moves for no charge were because the only options were DVC and Ft Wilderness.....which were mostly more.

Now that someone can choose a different resort within the same category, they have a similar cost option.

That is why the person...and they seem to be in the know...said call sooner rather than later, because if the rooms in your category get booked up, you may be out of Luck.
