Resort Change by Disney

This is a fantastic question and I was wondering as well. We will be moved from Boardwalk since it is now not opening until 10/1, so do I book park reservations first thing in the morning or will those reservations be removed?
I have no idea - but I will say I already changed my resort details twice and I kept the same confirmation number. So if the park reservations are linked to your hotel reservation, it may be fine.

Steam is coming out of my head. Man! It is bad enough doing this to people missing out purely due to Covid. But being kicked out because of millionaires. . .

If we get charged more it will really be a kick in the teeth. If we get BCV we will most likely cancel. That is too much money to pay without a Feature pool or to have to walk to BW to use a pool.

Do you have to call to change or will you be promoted to change online tomorrow when trying to make park reservations ?

That I don’t know and nothing on the rumors board has said anything about it. I am just sharing what I was reading there!

BWI is a favorite resort - I would be fine moving to the villa side of the resort, or to the Yacht/Beach and even a small Tower room at the Riveria. I almost booked the Riveria but wanted to be able to walk to two parks -- and the rooms were more expensive, too.
I definitely agree. We were actually at YC on 3/16, coming off of the last DCL Dream cruise. It was the most surreal WDW experience, in many ways, and we would be happy for Yacht/Beach again, just eager to know.

I agree. I am just sharing what is being said...basically, they are doing things differently now that hotels at the value and moderate level are opening in the next month and beyond.
Is this confirmed or still speculation that we will now pay a price difference for moves due to being booked at a closed resort?
I have POR on 7/10 and Caribbean on 7/14. What other moderate is even open to move me to? Cabin?
I actually already have a Cabin for 10 nights following my Caribbean reservation, and I love FW but I am not sure I would want to stay there for 19 nights! Also, I paid a lot less for POR and Caribbean than my cabin. Almost a 200/night difference
I wonder if Pop would be an option for me. Do they have 5th sleeper rooms?

Well, I think I’m going to wait for now. Unless the CMs offer me a fabulous rate that competes with what I have, I’ll wait and see. ASMo might be open by our dates.

It also occurs to me that if there are no FP and no EMH, Disney has effectively put offsite and onsite on the same footing. In which case, I can easily get a last minute booking offsite, even if Disney cancels my resort. Of course, depending on how events unfold, I might cancel completely, too.

Pop caps room occupancy at 4. The only value resorts that hold more are family suites at AoA and ASMu.

I'm wondering the same. Other places are reporting that upgrades will still happen complimentary if your resort is not open. My stay at POR starts on July 23rd before CBR opens and I was content to wait it out another couple of weeks if needed to see how people with similar dates fare, but now I'm nervous that if I do, I'll be out of reach of anything that would be affordable for us - we wouldn't be able to spend much more than what we already have for POR and would in all honestly probably rather just downgrade to POP along with probably at least half of the other people staying at moderates.

Part of the problem is that there are no posted rates out there. I know AoA and Pop are more than the All Stars. But I have no real idea how much more. And I booked through UT, so my rate was a little lower anyway. And are the new rack rates the same as before the closures?

Also, I’m going in November, and the opening schedule only goes through October. I’d hate to cancel and pay more and then have ASMo open.
In Nov the price diff for my rooms is $42 per night more for Pop than All Stars. Same dates in mid Nov at both resorts.

I just did a CM chat . I asked if room modifications could be done via chat . He said no and technically your resort will not be open for your stay. 😐 He said BVC is though . I asked if that was a hint ? He said kinda lol.
So I am thinking they are pushing me to BVC . Which has no feature pool just the small DVC pool .
Ugh. We have YC aug 4-11. I DO NOT WANT BCV. Especially without SAB. If that is my only choice, I will cancel or maybe reschedule for next year. Stupid NBA. I hate basketball anyway......now I really hate them that they get my favorite resort and feature pool 😡😡😡

It sounds like they will not be moving people any longer You will have to see what is open and pay the difference or cancel.

If you do nothing, they will cancel people within 7 days. If you have a preference, I’d call, because as things book up, it may reduce your options.

@Sandisw, you mean 7 days within check in date, not 7 days from today, correct? This is what’s on the resorts page...

Guests with reservations for travel through July 10 may request immediate assistance with modifying their plans for dates in 2020. Those currently traveling July 11 - December 31, 2020 may request assistance beginning Monday, June 22. Modifications into 2021 can be made beginning June 24.

To provide additional flexibility, we are waiving Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through October 3, 2020. If Guests need further assistance, they can reach us at the Disney Reservation Center through our online chat feature or by calling our reservation line.

If no action is taken for impacted stays, Disney will automatically cancel your reservation within 7 days of the original check-in date and process any refund due to the original form of payment.

For the money I am paying for a pullout couch bed and no feature pool . Not going to happen . I booked a backup trip to Universal.
I will see how this plays out and cancel when necessary.

I called 3 times tonight. We are to check in 7/22 at CSR. The first CM said I'd have to move & pay the difference. The second one said they didn't know how this would be handled. The third one said I'd be moved at no additional cost. Does anyone know what will really happen since I can't stay at CSR due to the NBA???

It has been reported by someone in the know and the language on the Disney site seems to indicate you have to call to modify.

So, until tomorrow and we get confirmed reports, it is considered speculative. But sounds like the original plan to move at no charge was because no options for values and moderates was there.

right, but there is still not a moderate option for someone like me at CBR on 7/11 with a 5th sleeper. And POP only sleeps four. I get they opened POP as a value butI was surprised they didn’t open a moderate option too. Not sure what our choices will be.

Yes, that is what I meant and thank you for making sure it made sense. Let’s hope tomorrow we get a better idea of what is happening as even CMs seems to be saying different things.

That may mean those guests will be treated differently. Like I said, it’s what is being reported and people with a different type room couod very well need to be moved to a more expensive resort and thus not see a charge that some one else will.

From what I have read and what I have been told, there is not the same policy as before that everyone will be moved from closed to open for free.

It will all depend. But, with Disney, what happens today as a plan could be different tomorrow.
