Resort Change by Disney

To be clear, though I’ve been critical of moving guests to DVC resorts, I have never criticized or “looked down” on the guests being moved. I have been critical of business decisions Disney has made that jeopardize the experience and, quite possibly, safety of all guests. They are making a conscious decision to impact ALL guests in order to cut costs. And, if it is their plan to engineer room capacity to be higher than offered amenities (pool, dining), especially when parks are closed, then I think that borders on being unethical.

It might be unethical IMO if they didn’t tell you it was going to be limited dining and pools. However, they told people that at the start.

Also, it possible it will help when parks open to have all buses going to less places to come more often.

I will be there early July and figure between the two pools at the resort hopefully I’ll have a spot.

ETA: even if they opened up places like the deluxe hotels, it wouldn’t change the number of pools..

People posting that Disney is moving people to just save costs is silly. I mean sure they may be able to save on CM at closed hotels but you have to remember they just can’t open EVERY SINGLE HOTEL AND RESORT AT ONCE. You HAVE to stagger hotels openings. Disney probably could have pushed DVC out (some lawyer will yell now at the contract verbiage I’m sure ) and only catered to cash reservations but chose a balanced approach. Is it perfect? No. Is Disney even trying to say it will be perfect? No. Just go to any Disney website and there’s alerts galore about what some of the impacts are.

Also today is my 60 day fast pass day. No clue where I will be staying, whatdays or parks I can enter, if my hopper will be valid or if I will get credit back, or if I can get dining reservations for anywhere. I’m looking forward to a non over planned Disney trip and go with the flow - like how “it used to be” (albeit with social distancing, limited characters, no parades or fireworks lol).

So currently the first week of August is looking pretty limited for DVC availability? Is that what I read a page or two back?
How do they even check? I’m guessing it is DVC members. We are August 5-12. I’m hoping we get something beside SSR,OKW or the cabins.

We are booked at Pop for mid to late August
From what I understand, there have not been any announcements about which hotels will be open after 7/11, so the possibility exists that our resorts will be open and we will not need to be moved. Unless I missed something...

Limited in some respect. Some resorts are just more popular with members than other resorts. And some, like VGF, are rather small so it doesn’t take much to have limited availability. Studios book up fast. 1BR villas tend to remain open longest. I don’t know what Disney has in the way of DVC inventory, but members still have a nice selection of resorts available in August.

The first week of August is definitely busier than July, but there is still quite a bit of availability at many of the resorts. Most have a variety of rooms, but some room types are booked.

Yes I hope so.

For members, yes. But Disney could have pulled rooms already as they are allowed to so we have no idea what has happened behind the sconces.

Now, fall is a different story because that was limited before this ever happened as it is the busiest DVC booking time.

We are booked 8/1-8/8 BWCL- traveling with another couple. If CL is not open, what are our chances of getting a two bedroom DVC for those dates?

I’m supposed to be at Pop 8/2-8/10. I went ahead and booked at the dolphin which is supposed to open 7/29. I’ll wait and see what they offer me but I doubt it’ll be nicer or better location than the dolphin.

I think the comment you replied to is talking more about posters who have talked about pools and how they should only be used by DVC members because of dues or somethin[QUOTE="casaya95, post: 62008783, member: 6661

If this is aimed at me then I suggest you read my post again as that is nothing like what I wrote, if not aimed at me then sorry.

Unless you’re looking to rent from an owner, it won’t matter whether there are CCV villas open on the DVC website. Disney CRO (cash reservations) will be an entirely different picture.

I have said this before, I think sharing what we see as DVC owners could give false hope to cash guests that Disney may allow choices or that places other than SSR and OKW will be used at a lower rate than we have seen.

Until Disney announces the plan as to what is happening once parks open to reservations at resorts not yet open, we Just don’t know.

But, if these are two different reservations, they probably won’t be combined Disney has not allowed people to chose
