Resort Change by Disney

Nope, nothing that weird. When they took off the Free Dining Plan on Saturday, I had my December reservation downgraded from CL Tower at CSR to a Standard room at CSR . Not even a Tower room! Yeah, they moved me from the most expensive, non-suite room to the cheapest non-suite room. I need to call back and inquire about it, but have been super busy and don't want to hold on the phone to adjust something that cannot be adjusted now, since it's not within the dates they are modifying, and I don't even know at this point if we're going in December. But, yes, there is some weird stuff going on with all these modifications.
I called. The CM had no explanation for the CSR move- it didn't happen she says. They have no record of that reservation, nothing is reflected in my account to show it. Her solution was to ignore it.

However, I did go ahead and see what they would do for those dates.
I have the benefit of being able to compare offers. I had 2 separate YC, CL reservations. one was the July 8-10 and the other July 10-11. 4 people. I was given the Rivera, 1 bedroom villa. Cost decrease of $120.
My daughter had POFQ, 5 nights 5-10, 4 people. She was given OKW 2br villa, cost decrease of $250. The CM could not explain why you would get a decrease in cost for POFQ to a 2 bedroom, but is what it is she says.

How does this even make sense comparing the two offers? The Riviera is costing me more than a previous reservation I had there for an earlier date, using an AP discount that was significanly cheaper than what I paid for the YC, CL. I doubt we're even going, a lot depends on when and if they do AP previews. We will however drop the Riviera and all move in with my daughter to the OKW 2 bedroom. 2 of her 4 people aren't going now so it'll just be 5 adults and 1 child. We were told we could make any changes to guests that we wanted. I'm disappointed not to get to stay at the Riviera, but when you're getting OKW for $250 a night, it's crazy to split us up and pay an additional $550 a night. That's IF we go and I highly doubt we will.

I think they are working on reservations to July 11th. It won’t be long til they get to yours.
Right, yeah, I'm aware mine isn't being dealt with yet. I was responding to someone who was confusing me with another poster who had dates in the current working range and didn't like the modifying resort cost :)

This may be a random question but are the Ft Wilderness Cabins accessible without a car? I see the site is HUGE and looks hard going without a vehicle? If people who are being moved here don't have vehicles, is it going to be an issue to get about?

They have internal buses with bus stops at the top of cabin loops. So (in my opinion), once you get off the internal bus, it's really not that different than walking across hotel grounds to get to your room. A lot of people prefer renting golf carts, but from our meandering of the fort one day last year (with a golf cart), it looked like golf cart parking (at either the front of the Fort to get the park buses or at the water end to get the boat) could be pretty intense.

You are correct. Long time lurker but this forced me out of lurker mode lol.

If I had to bet... It was your TA who canceled it... That’s what happened to the one other person.

I’d advise anyone else who booked with a TA to call and tell them NOT to cancel your reservation!

I hope they can work some sort of magic for you. I’d call back to Disney and see what they say. Tell them you didn’t cancel and want to know why it was... Get a Supervisor if you’re not making any headway.... If in fact it was your TA, he/she needs to eat the cost and make you whole again. I’d be livid and they wouldn’t be my TA any longer.

if without a car or even with one there is a internal bus system to help get around. used to be 3 routes color coded to get around but there is no car parking near pool or restaurant areas. there is also no car parking near boat dock to MK or bus depot in front for park buses

Thanks both. Still sounds a bit of a downgrade from a hotel room if you ask me 🤷🏻‍♀️ Fingers crossed POFQ is open in September as I don’t think I’d be too happy if they tried to put mum and I in a cabin.

I tell this story here a lot but last trip young granddaughter cried when she found out she was not taking bus ride home. the buses were one of her favorite rides of the trip

Thank you. I think we are willing to do resort only for the1st part of the trip and parks on the 11th, 12th, 13th but it doesnt seem like I can keep tickets and move to where they offer. ( was okw).

Going to try calling again and see what they say.

I am in the same situation, our dates were July 9-13 and we were ready to do a couple resort days and then three days at the park. I haven't been able to modify yet, but if they say we can't do that I guess we will try to modify but I'm not sure if anything in our budget will be available. To me changing a five day ticket to three day should be possible.

We love the cabins we have stayed there many times but in my opinion you need a golf cart!

The move from POFQ to FW cabins is not a downgrade technically. But it is definitely not an upgrade. It's moving moderate to moderate. The problem is, what you consider important for your stay. With this move, you're gaining a separate bedroom, full kitchen and more space but losing what I consider to be better transportation.

My daughter has a POFQ stay July5-10. We changed it yesterday and she got moved to OKW, 2 bedroom villa. This is most certainly an upgrade, but she is losing better transportation options as well. Still, she's gaining enough that it more than makes up for it. She would not have been happy at all with a move to FW cabins. I don't know if anyone has been moved to the cabins from POFQ, but I would hope not. It's not an upgrade at all to me. But I'll allow that outside of the All Stars, there isn't a resort on property I like less than FW cabins, so that probably colors my judgement a lot.

The move I got for my stay was nowhere near as impressive as the move my daughter got and I was moving from the YC CL while she was at a moderate. There really seems to be no rhyme or reason to where you get moved. Maybe they just have a wheel they spin when you call and wherever it lands is where you go.

There are questions of whether or not it will be open. There are DVC owners booking it and guests being moved because it won’t be open. No one really knows for sure.

Correct. DVC owners can still book and will be moved if it is not open by the time the reservation happens

If they weren't closed then why would they move me? I was in a villa to start with at Jambo. I was told on 2 calls by different CM's Jambo would be closed.

MS is reporting the same thing.Jambo has not been given an open date. The removal of rooms was said to be a glitch. They can’t pull them from booking, even though it may not be open because it gives owners potential places to stay, but if at the time of the trip, the rooms are out of service because it is still closed they will be moved.

I am already booked at the FW Cabin, so it is hard to understand.
We are scheduled at FtW July 7-11 and assume that we have not received the call or email because we're at a resort that is scheduled to be open. Kind of wishing I'd kept our other reservation now, oh well.
