Resort Change by Disney

Thanks both. Still sounds a bit of a downgrade from a hotel room if you ask me 🤷🏻‍♀️ Fingers crossed POFQ is open in September as I don’t think I’d be too happy if they tried to put mum and I in a cabin.
FW is different its hard to compare and for many reasons its a campground with cabins. It is very large so we have always rented a golf cart. FW is on the water so you can get to MK very easily. The feature pool is nice and the the sing along/campfire with Chip and Dale is great with a movie. There is so much to do my boys love it we have spent many days just enjoying the campground!!!!! Also depending on the time in September some people start decorating the campsites for Halloween and its very neat to ride around and see all the decorations.

I'm not sure "fun" for me is worth an extra $80 enough (cost of the 6-person cart... we're a family of 5). And if we were moved to FW, with this short notice, we might not be able to get one. Having lost free dining, paying that after being forced to move to a resort we don't want would be hard to swallow.
I understand the golf cart is a added expense its expensive trust me we are being moved to a resort that im not happy about.

We are hoping to arrive at wdw oct 30-
Just in time for mnsshp🎃

we have 2 separate bookings.
One is a ddp package (with tickets).
mother is room only & tickets bought separately.
We received an email earlier today regarding tix booking-
Keep or cancel & notify through manage my booking.

therefore, too soon for resort reservations-
But not tickets😗

Man, I hate being the reality check for some people outside of this forum. In a Facebook group, someone was excited that they were moved to SSR to a deluxe studio from an All Star. Someone commented that they've recently been refurbished and were so nice -- and I had to chime in and say that not all of them were refurbished and if she didn't have a preferred studio, then she had no hope of getting one. Did not get great reactions from that one, but I think it's better to know what to expect instead of being horribly disappointed when you show up!

I called my TA yesterday and she said what we all have learned here that they are only dealing with up to 7/11 departures. She even called Disney to confirm. We have a stay 7/11-18 at CBR with tix

I agree. So many people think DVC and are thrilled. They don't realize that not all DVC rooms are like the 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms. I’ve only stayed in a studio once, never again.

Some people are just happy they have a reservation move and aren't hung up on specifics. We are all pretty lucky if right now our only concern is going to a theme park as things could be alot different with covid19. I go mid to late july and if it works out I can go and enjoy the parks everything else is just icing on the cake and I'm grateful. This is my first trip that I ever have planned with my wife and my 7 year old. Our may attempt and june attempt fell through. I think all the people getting so angry at disney during something a company has never had to deal with and is making tough decisions with no example to go on can be a little much. I get frustration but disney could very well have not opened for months more and even more trips cancelled or the poor people who had to abruptly leave when it closed back in March. I think we all could use a dose of positivity.

I agree! After attempting to work from home and homeschool my child with TS and Autism, we are just so excited to be going to Disney! We have had to adjust our expectations and do some mask tolerance training, but it sounds so much more fun than lying around at home! I can't wait!

I would have been happy to be put anywhere if they would have been open on my June dates. I rescheduled to FW in December because that was the cheapest resort for those dates. AND I owe an extra $996! 🙄 And we will go to UOR in September for our rescheduled June vacation instead. Even bought UOR APs as they were good for 15 months. We will go to WDW in January, modifying the December dates when they open up next year. Hopefully to a cheaper resort.

Posted this on the NBA and one of the COVID threads as well. Looks like not all of the details were worked out on the NBA "bubble" which is why the concerns are coming out now. While I think the money will eventually mean this will still happen who knows? Maybe CSR will be available after all :rotfl2:

"A month ago, superstar players got on a Zoom call and reportedly created a united front to support a safe return to play. A lot has changed since. Last week, the 28 NBPA player representatives all voted in favor of the league’s proposal (which was approved by the board of governors the day before). But a closer look at the NBPA statement shows that the vote was strictly an approval of “further negotiations” with a caveat that “various details” were still to be negotiated. "

Maybe the NBA’s Return Won’t Be As Easy As It Seemed
Not to burst your bubble, but players are beginning to voice unease over restrictions and health protocols in the "campus environment" at Disney World

Anyone with a reservation beginning on July 11 called about their reservation?
My reservation was July 11th- July 18th. My TA called yesterday as she had tried to move my reservation the day they announced the opening and got locked out from changing by a few minutes.

We changed to December. We were told no resorts are available as of now to change. Only DVC. I took FW as a placeholder, but will cancel if the resorts don't open by then. I'm not paying double for a cabin that I don't want. We had a bounceback. Some people were allowed to change to a resort, but our TA called back again to confirm, and was told those reservations not at dvc resorts were in error and would be corrected in the future.
At this point if this trip hadn't been paid in gift cards we would cancel and go to Universal as I'm on furlough all of June. I already put in for a refund of our AP

There aren’t actually all that many rooms on property that have only a king bed. If the current pattern holds and you’re moved to a DVC studio or the Fort Wilderness cabins, you will have two sleeping surfaces a regular bed and either a Murphy bed or a sleeper sofa.

That's exactly what I was thinking....we wanted a king bed but they were hard to come by!

I had an email from Disney last night asking whether I still wanted to go and offered the 35% off in lieu f free dining - I clicked on the link to say I did. Balance not yet paid but assume I will now get a new invoice soon as my balance due beginning of July (although did I read somewhere that they were delaying final balance until a month or so before (think soeone said on UK site). Anyway, if NBA are playing games and staying at our resort CSR until October, I was surprised to see that there was nothing about a resort change - should I expect this will come later - we are leaving end of August.

The email did state that "Some Disney Resort Hotel experiences will also be adjusted..." so I guess it's covered under that. We have a September booking for POFQ and suspect it may not be open as it's such a small resort. We shall wait it out and see. I don't really want a Ft Wilderness cabin though!
