Learned something today that I didn’t know before…

On the offers page for the board sponsor resale site, if you have an error in the address field or miss filling out a box, when you make your correction and resubmit be sure to double check the top portion because it defaults back to the listing terms and price when you make any changes in the buyer info section. Not having a good morning. I also burnt my toast.

Thankfully, the board sponsor does NOT have a system that automatically sends out contract paperwork when receiving a full price offer. That happened with other brokers [when I purposely offered full] and so fast that I loved living in 2024 lol

Of course it does, par for the course with most companies these days. Any way to possibly increase profits. :(

Didn’t notice, since we had multiple offers out on different contracts, and only noticed when they accepted. Ack! Felt so stupid, and hated having to get the agent to retract the offer and resubmit. Wouldn’t blame the sellers if they refused to deal with me now.

That's on the broker, I have no issue changing my offer from what I put in on their website, just for that reason. They have it say Full Offer Only, but when i was selling mine they contacted me to ask if id accept something else, so i have no issue putting in an offer, so they contact me then telling them my actual price. ;)
That whole "full price offer only" is just a way to weed people out, not an actual rule/law that says they cant do it.

It’s not the broker’s efforts I feel bad about…my delay of maybe 15 minutes tops in noticing the error was enough time for the sellers to receive and accept the offer. But I had no choice, their listing is overpriced compared to similar listings on other broker websites and compared to the averages from the last year, so there was no way I was going to pay $11 more a point than I planned to, especially on a 200+ point contract. It would mean having to skip one of the other contracts I was bidding on.

DH doesn’t like PIT at all, so he’s said I can spend the money I would have used for new direct points on resale. For the same money as 250-300 points at PIT, I can get double or triple the resale points elsewhere, and I have one direct contract already so resale is just fine by me.
 
The same thing happened to me in May or June with the board sponsor. I filled out the form to make an offer and there was some error, I believe I forgot to check that I didn't need financing. I corrected that error and clicked send. The next morning I got a message that my full price offer was accepted. I was freaking out because the contract was not worth that amount so I let the agent know there was a mistake that my offer was less. They ended up letting me know that another buyer had also made a full price offer just before mine, so I actually didn't get it anyway. So that ended up being a good thing. The agent was not surprised about the error on the offer at all.... so they know about this issue.
 
For those following the saga, not only did that seller come back with a minimal counter-offer (dropped $1) but the other contract I put in an offer for accepted someone else’s offer in the less than 24 hours between sending me a counter-offer and us accepting it. Really? On a weekend? With no warning or indication from the broker that there were other offers involved. Very grumpy today.

We bought our other resale contract from this broker, mainly because they were the board sponsor so I figured they were a safer bet. Not again, thanks to this. So peeved with them. Have moved on to another contract with another broker, almost identical to the one I messed up on the offer for, where the listing price is $3 less than the denied offer with the board sponsor. I do have one offer still out and unresponded to, but I’m assuming they won’t accept it. I really think the board sponsor is just more expensive, not sure why that would be.

BTW, thanks to whoever posted the aggregate site DVC for Less in other threads. Have now set up an alert to try to find new stuff to try.

It only would increase profits if you purchased it at a price you didn't indend to offer. To think a company would change a price to increas profit is silly. This has happened to me and I noticed it when I got the auto reply confirming my offer. I just let them know and it was corrected. If you back out and go back in this happens, because of "cookies" and if you don't accept them on a site, it will not store the info you submitted.

That's exactly what it did. It reverted back to the asking price, not the offer... Or am I not understanding something?

Not saying they set it up that way on purpose to increase profits, but I'm guessing they aren't too concerned about fixing it, much the same as cell phone providers, cable providers, etc all increase and add on small bits for whatever that basically go un-noticed... actually I think people have complained so much about that its actually being fixed now, you can see promotions that state "same price for 2 years".
 
For what it's worth, we now have a signed contract via a different broker for 230 OKW points at $70 pp (asking was $72) which is over $10 pp cheaper than the cheapest the other contract would go, and our new one even has some extra points banked into 2025 rather than having half of 2025 borrowed and gone. Unfortunately, I'm anticipating that Disney will ROFR it out from under me, but maybe they'll have stolen back enough last month that they'll let this one slide. Everyone keep their fingers crossed for me, please...

ROFR is obviously not the same as pre-Covid when every resort was up for grabs... but a great deal on 2042 OKW does make me nervous.

I appreciate the heads up on this. I think it's just website wonkiness related and a good reminder to triple check everything before submitting and to check any email confirmations as soon as you get them to confirm that the offer is accurate.

While my Starbucks order yesterday is nothing in comparison to the thousands spent on DVC, thought Id share. Placing an order in the Starbucks app and noticed the wrong location defaulted so I changed it and it started my order over so made my selections again and noticed the wrong location once again, selected proper location, made my selections and placed order. Order placed at the original defaulted location. Frustrating because I know I changed it. So had to drive an additional 4 miles for my fix. I dont think Starbucks had any intent to get me to order 4 miles away.
