Resale Add-On Question

We are thinking about adding on to our BWV points. Has anybody purchased additional points through resale? I'm nervous that the resale points won't get added on to our existing contract or that DVC will create a second separate contract in our names with the new points.

We're ready to pull the trigger so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance...

We have added on twice through resale, and each time the contract was put with our original contract by DVC. We did make it clear with the broker that we already were DVC members and that we did want this to happen. There was at least one story on these boards where the contract was not added, but became a separate account, but we had no problems at all.

Bobbiwoz-
How long did you have to wait for your ROFR from Disney for your resale ad-ons? Was it about the same as a first contract purchase or less?
I just made my offer on my add-ons thru the Timeshare store and I am wondering when I might close.

I have three different contracts (three different use years) and never had a problem. I find I need to think about it twice each year; once when I make our reservations, the other when I bank what ever's left over. Reservations combining points from the different contracts has not been a problem. :)

I'm sorry, but I don't remember just how long everything took, but it wasn't one of the longer times that people complain about, it just seemed that way. My guess is that we heard regarding ROFR within 2 weeks. Do you know that they all have to be the same UY to get put in the same contract?

Pixie dust for you!!

Bobbi :goodvibes

PS. We did lose what would have been our original contract (VWL) to ROFR, this was in late summer '03, and we learned about that one in about the same amount of time. We then "went" through DVC and bought BWV through what was called Magical Beginnings.

Wow! I guess I never thought that it may not go through. Hope it is not too late to cross my fingers!

Thanks for the info.

If it's the same use year AND exact same ownership, DVC will add it to your existing contract ALMOST all the time. If they don't, it's because they didn't think about it. But they won't fix it later it appears. If it's a different use year or even slightly different ownership, they will not combine them. If you want them combined, let everyone know along the way including on your purchase contract.

Yes, I'm guessing it was something like this from Dean that had me checking our deeds to get the wording right. I'm not sure that we did call MS, probably because we didn't think of it, but as I said, it worked out for us. We're up to ".07" with the add ons, now in our contract. Only the 2 were resale, the rest were through Disney.

I'm new to this thread and am about to buy our first vacation club memebership through a resale broker. I'm wondering what ROFR stands for? Thanks for the help.

ROFR is Disney's Right of First Refusal. The conditions of the sale are brought to Disney. Disney can buy any contract, at the exact conditions. So, the seller gets the money, the hopeful buyer is out of the loop. The hopeful buyer doesn't lose anything except the time, deposit is returned to him.

Thank you so much.
We are looking at purchasing at OKW through Jaki Apetz atimeshare.com then adding on later. Does anyone have any experience with her or advice on the initial purchase?
