requesting a view`

hey,

my mom is a DVC member and requested the preferred biew for us at Boardwalk. Does this include the boardwalk view? Can I call and request that view then? Who do I call? My trip is in October and i want to call someone as soon as possible. Thanks so much!!

No its not the same view. Standard views overlook the front entrance,and parking lot area . Boardwalk view is just that a view of the boardwalk . All other rooms are preferred , views of the main pool , the quiet pool the canal and such. The member would have to call member services to make a request.

Boardwalk view rooms are a separate reservation category from the Preferred View - Pool/Garden rooms (even though they cost the same number of points). The confirmation letter will say which you have.

If you have a Pool/Garden room, requesting a Boardwalk view will do no good. You can waitlist for the BW view if you like - your Mom would have to call back and make arrangements to waitlist - unless you are on the deed or listed as an Associate Member, you can't make changes like that yourself.

Ok, I am just a tiny bit confuse...so preferred is the same amount of points whether it is boardwalk view or not? If so i will have my mother request those soon. She has scheduled for my sister at in August to stay there as well so maybe she can ask about both, Thanks!

As noted, you have to specifically reserve a BW view, unlikely at this point for August. Everything else is just a regular view. Even though it says preferred, don't let it imply to you or them that the view will be anything special, it likely will not be. You'd have to understand the history of BWV room types to even think about understanding.

I know not all are special even with preferred because I had the preferred view before and was staring at a garden....yippie.... hehehe. I guess I was just not clear. i was just asking if preferred view was the right view to even be able to be considered for a request to view the boardwalk. Or if it would mean an upgrade in points. 3 members of my family are going this year for 5 nights each so I did not want to use up any more of my mom's points. That is really what I was asking.

BW view and preferred are indeed the same points. If it's not avail, your mom can keep what you have and waitlist for a BW view. You might get lucky!

Unlikely that the BWView will be available for October either. These book at that time of year fairly quickly (like 10-11 months out), but you could always get lucky. Might as well ask.

While it's true that Boardwalk view and preferred view are the same number of points, the Boardwalk view is NOT a request...It is a specific seperate reservation status. The Boardwalk view has to be reserved specifically at the time of the reservation, and as others have stated, it is highly unlikely that the Boardwalk view would still be available for August or October.
