Reporter and Camerman killed on air.

I think it was the latter. He was framing his shot in the camera. (I watched it.) He had a clear shot at the cameraman but wanted to shoot the reporter first, and clearly waited for it to be captured correctly. She was taken off guard; they all were. He stood there for quite a while in front of them, but all three victims were engrossed in the interview.

It is truly disturbing to see something like this, but hopefully analysts can learn about what makes someone like this go to these extremes.

I feel so sorry for the victims and their friends, family and coworkers. It's so tragic. :sad1:

When he first raised the gun, the cameraman was filming Bridgewater Plaza. He waited until the cameraman turned back to the reporter to start firing. It was very surprising to see how long he was standing there with an out stretched gun and not noticed.by either of the ladies. Pure evil and I'm glad he's dead.

So apparently not only is he a coward but he is an idiot who can't even aim at his own head

It looked from the initial news videos, to me, anyway, that she was shot from behind, or from the side. I was surprised to see how close the shooter was to the group, and right in front of them for several seconds, no less. How bold. And arrogant.

I wonder if this will mean changes for the news industry.

Wow. This whole situation is insane and so terribly tragic. If its true he's in critical condition I hope he lives to face the charges. What a coward!

My heart goes out to the friends and families of the victims. All of this is so senseless.

Now they are saying he's alive but in critical condtion.
My thoughts then, too, are going out to the doctors, nurses and other staff who have to take care of him today.

It was very difficult for staff when a similar situation occurred with the Boston Bomber. They needed support afterwards for quite a while. They still have to care for him like he is any other patient, knowing why he is there.

Fantastic, we have a new bar set for salting the wounds of depraved savagery -- film and broadcast your crimes for social media. That aspect alone is quite frightening in our keeping up with the Joneses, 15-min of fame culture.

Can you image the panic they felt when this man walked up on them. Knowing what a hot head he must have been.

It seems like this has been going on for some time now globally. Maybe that's where he got the idea.

Social media is becoming more and more of a mixed bag.

edited to take out what I originally posted
I started to think it was to much information about a particular crime in our area.

He basically ambushed them since they were so engrossed in doing their jobs.

It would be hard to take care of someone who has just commited such a horrible crime.

It is very difficult.
My DH is an EMT and volunteer fireman and he's had to treat many people that he knows are guilty of a crime (some crimes far worse than others).

Or defend them. A very much beloved State Trooper was killed in my area Sunday. I can't even imagine the feelings in the Public Defender's Office at the thought of having to defend this evil piece of scum

It seemed like to me she would have seen him. Who knows for sure.

He actually raised the gun at them once then repositioned, they never saw a thing until the 1st shot. It was over in seconds.

It was the poor cameramans last day - omg

If there's any comfort in any of this, I think it was that she/they had very little, if any, time to feel much of anything, as it all happened so fast. I don't know how fast they succumbed to their injuries, but I hope they didn't suffer. If the third victim, the interviewee, was awake through all of this, she's going to need some serious help. :(
