hi all--

I am seriously interested in buying into DVC, but would like a trial run. So, I'm thinking a good way to test the waters would be to rent points off a DVC member and try it out. I understand that this would actually require a DVC member to make a reservation for me, so these are my qs:

1. when I check in, is it under the name of the DVC member or my own?
2. would ME be available to me?
3. could I still get the dining plan for the trip.

Other general qa--I'm really interested in VWL. I've never stayed there. Is it kid-friendly? How long does it take to get to MK on the ferry?

TIA

Aimee

You might want to review the FAQs on the Rent/Trade Board, as they do provide some insight into the renatl process.

The reservation would be made in your name and DVC reservations can use DME (all WDW resort guests may use that service). The Dining Plan is also available thru DVC.

For infomration about DVC resorts and planning a trip, please visit our DVC Planning Board.

I'll move your questions over there now.

Have a great trip! :)

I don't have kids but have stayed at VWL and it appeared to me to be very kid friendly. Whispering Canyon Cafe (one of the restaurants in the main Lodge building) is one of the most kid-friendly restaurants at WDW. There were lots of kids at the pool. I think they even have pool games in the late afternoon. I would think the western theme would really appeal to kids as well.

We never stayed at the villas as DVC members but have stayed at WL with two small children. Very kid friendly, great pool and lobby, the moderately priced restaurant is very kid friendly ( I can't remember the name, Maybe whispering canyons). and has a table full of Lincoln Logs to play with while waiting for your table. There is a small play ground at the beach area, bike rentals which is nice to ride to Fort Wilderness. At night you can view the Electric Water Pagent from the beach area. I would say the ferry to MK is about 5 minutes.

Have fun
