On our last trip my some time ago my son used DAS which we setup a guest relations in the park. With the new system in place can we renew his DAS via the chat? I see all of these posts about the chat taking hours to get in. My concern is what if my son is not present? There is no possible way I could him to wait with me all day for a live agent. I know we can do it again in the parks, but I would like to be able to get 2 selections ahead of time. Is there anyway I can renew for him without him being there?

He has to be there during the call but he doesn't have to be immediately by your side when the call is answered. Pick a time when you will both be home for several hours. You can be doing other things while waiting your turn and call him over when the chat is answered. My DD goes to work around 4:00, so I started the chat around 10am and got through around 1:30pm on the day I tried. She was elsewhere in the house, and I was working while waiting. When the chat connected, I called her in to join me.

Are they open on weekends too?

Yes. And waits are shorter first thing in the morning. If your son is awake early in the day, you can call right when the phones open and your wait time could be minutes rather than hours.

It doesn’t take that long anymore. We renewed ours and we’re only on hold maybe 10 minutes a month ago. I started the conversation and then went and got my son when they needed to talk with him. Easy.

Keep in mind, you will have to explain again why he needs the DAS. Since the system switched over since your last visit, it's not a renewal, as people have reported being told the CMS couldn't see that they had previously had DAS

The cast member in our case has access to all prior DAS from the year they started with the photos. Our child said hi and that's it. Took 5 minutes.

OTOH, we've renewed thrice this year and they have zilch on file.

Same for me. I have not done it that much in a year but each time I have gotten the DAS it is like I am a brand new person who has never done it before to the employee. They have never indicated they knew anything about me. New photo each time too. I’m so glad I have never seen my photo lol. I bet they are terrible.

3 times in a year is a lot for us- but we live near Land in California and have had lots of friends and family doing "revenge travel" and wanting us to join them lol. Of course each individual trip was just enough to be 60 days apart lol

We did 3 trips in a year once when we had annual passes. I didn’t need the DAS then. It was great!

It said extended wait times and then I logged in to wait and it was like 10 minutes. I was totally unprepared. FWIW, we used very few of our advance selections (I hadn't planned them well enough but there also was only so much availability)

I’m waiting right now and there is an extended wait time. I started chat at 10:52 and it’s 11:08. I’m just getting work done with the chat up while I wait. Made sure my DS was dressed and wasn’t in his underwear. 🤣

Pretty sure I did not get my kid out of pajamas. She was just bouncing on the trampoline!
I meant to use the wait to figure out what rides I'd want for the preselections but had no time to just guessed at popular rides from what was available and took the times that were available. It wasn't very helpful--would definitely prep next time!

That’s what I’m trying to do. With 6 parks days and the Halloween party I bought a notebook to keep track of times.

It’s been an hour now.

I panicked and looked at a list of rides lol. I redeemed myself once we were there with very clear solid plans but in the moment, I actually got a reservation of Spaceship Earth. So, need any expert advice, hit me up. I can also recommend Living with the Land and something else that never has a wait. Only if you schedule them hours apart of course

To be honest, we rarely used the pre-selections. Day of DAS was much easier to navigate depending on how I was feeling. So don't beat yourself up about the pre-selections!

We had arranged the DAS Advance Selections for our last 2 trips, but missed quite a few of them. Our daughter is just not always predictable in terms of her stamina and if she has a seizure, all bets are off.

My daughter has used DAS from when it started in 2013 snd used the Guest Assistance Program before DAS. Prior to COVID shutdowns, when we ‘renewed’ DAS at the parks, it was sometimes just a renewal, where the CM looked at the prior information and photo. Sometimes , we needed to re-explain why she needed DAS and get a new picture.

Our trip in June 2021 was our first after COVID shutdown. In June and October 2021, we registered her for DAS at a park. I don’t know whether the CM could see her information or not, but we were told it was new policy to ask each time what concerns we had with waiting in the regular lines.
She was registered for DAS using the video chat in February and again in April 2022. I don’t know if either CM could see the prior DAS information, but both times, they said they needed us to explain her concerns related to waiting and take a new photo. When I called in April, her prior DAS was actually still active, but would expire before our trip.

This has been our experience as well, including having an active DAS that would expire before our next trip. But we were told by two separate CMs they didn't have previous info, and we have had to take a photo every time.
