I have been going down my list of things for my upcoming trip and I am trying to figure out on which Remote Shutter that everyone is using. I am using a Nikon D300. I was reading about one on Nikonians called Phottix (wireless). It seemed to get pretty good reviews on there. It is one of those from Ebay. It claims to work up to 100m ( I don't plan on testing that ). It is shipped from Hong Kong, so ibviously there is some uneasiness about that. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to help out a newbie.

I just bought a wired remote release off E-bay from China for my Sony DSLR and it works great. I got it for 9.99 with free shipping. Took about 2 weeks to get it and compared to 59.99 for the Sony one I think it is a good deal.

I bought the Phottix Cleon N8 for my D300. It works just fine and does give you quite a bit of flexibility. There was also no worries with the transaction. However, I hardly use it and really just use the MC-30 cable release exclusively. :)

I use a Phottix Cleon as well with my Canon 40D, my version is both wired and wireless and it has worked well. I got it locally from someone on POTN.

Check out Dealextreme or Uxcell they are in Hong Kong also but I have ordered from both many times now with no issues other than it takes about 2 weeks to get here.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. I went ahead and ordered the Cleon - Phottix. Hopefully it will be what need.

Thanks for posting your query it helped me decide what to do. I had my finger on the button to order a Cleon Phottix N8 for my D200. The price was right but I was fearful of ordering on ebay from Hong Kong. Now I think I'll order one.:)

Please, no offense intended toward businesses in Hong Kong. It's just a long way away if there's a problem.

I'm thinking of getting one of these for my D300. I like having a wireless remote for some stuff. For now I'm using a 3rd party wired remote: MA-B (36 inch) $20 at amazon. Works like a charm.
