This is just a reminder that we cannot allow DIS members to advertise or have their homes advertised on this forum. Thank you for understanding. :)

It would be nice if we were allowed to have a link to our villa website on signature? Then thats up to readers if they wish to click??/
Doesnt seem quite fair that people who dont participate in the boards are getting the benfit!?
But obviously resp[ect your decision .... have I missed the answer?

Thanks,
Lynn

I feel like it is me who started this whole mess by asking about the pool homes, etc. I, for one, would strongly support DIS members being able to put the link to thier website for thier rentable condos, houses, villas and then I could choose to either click or not. That really isn't "advertisement" so to speak. As a consumer, I would feel so much better renting from someone who I "knew". Even if it was from an online forum. It could actually work well for DIS members--I mean, the members doing the renting might even be inclined to offer a small DIScount to members who rented. Wouldn't it be cool we could all help each other?
Anyway, just my 2 cents worth as I kind of feel like I started this debate. I really didn't mean to, just was very concerned and still am over renting from someone I had no clue who was. Sure hope the rules over this issue are discussed and there can be some sort of compromise. Either way, I am thankful for all the information I did receive from you guys!

Putting links in your signature is prohibited. That isn't something that is even going to be considered. It would get out of hand w/ everyone linking to "their business" in their signatures. We are still reviewing the policy w/ the WM's about links in posts. Once we have an answer we will be sure to make a board announcement.

One uk forum had this problem and solved it by allowing homeowners to register their homes for a set fee -would this work here ? Income for the boards - the knowledge that people can book with Diser who they may feel they "know" and owners who are members of this board would feel they are being treated fairly.
Just an idea .l

how about a board for advertising in the forum index?

then it will be adverts and nothing else

All good ideas:)

If you have others, please continue to post them. I've linked this thread so our WebMasters can view it easily.

...and 3kidsmommy, don't worry a bit:) This review has been in the works - we're just glad you found a great place to stay at a great rate. :thumbsup2

That's what the Dis is all about, we're all here to give each other help and tips in planning a wonderful Orlando vacation, and making some friends along the way :goodvibes

What? I have been promoting my Citrus Parade in Orlando Web Site all along and that is ilegal?

Since we where talking about the links issue, here are the rules from the board itself, regarding the use of link in signatures:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=947493

Here is what it says about links on signatures:
____
6. A link in your signature
You may have a link in your signature provided it does not link to a commercial site of any kind, and the site linked to has a prominent return link back to the DISboard.

Links to Photos are allowed as long as only the photo itself is displayed.

Links to Countdown sites are allowed as long as it's the countdown being displayed.

Links to SPAM of any type is strictly prohibited and can result in loss of all posting privileges.
______

So, as far as I know, the link that I display below, is not considered illegal, per what the post by co-moderator Kilee did mentioned before. By the way, I am not selling anything and do not intent to use the board for that matter. Only to provide usefull information to Central Florida Visitors.

"SUPER BOWL COMMERCIALS NOT ALLOWED!" :rotfl2:
