Which floor has the enclosed balconies? I'm assuming on the balconies you can't see out onto the boardwalk if you are sitting. I think I might want to request a different floor at check in if possible. Any floors better than others as far as view?

Thanks!

I don't think it goes by floor, each floor has a mix of both. I would prefer an enclosed balcony so that you can sit out if it's raining. When we were there in 12/02 we had a couple of days of non-stop rain, we were on the standard view side and could see Illuminations. I don't worry about requesting it one way or the other. I would think the best views would be from the 4th or 5th floor.

Oh..... I was thinking about the railings being open so you can see through them or solid like wood. If you are sitting down in an enclosed balcony it seems you wouldn't be able to see unless you stood up. I wasn't even thinking about roofs over them. So they are not like this?

Thanks!

lenshanem:

I had a 2nd floor room (2043) with an enclosed balcony. This was a BW preferred view room, by the way. There was a roof and the front portion of the balcony was solid wood. I think I remember glancing down the way at the other balconies and, if I remember correctly, they were all like that. So if you want to stay away from the enclosed balcony, request something other than a 2nd floor.

Hope that helps!

Thanks. I want to be able to sit and see the BW. (We have a BW view.) and I also don't want the temptation for the kids standing on chairs to be able to see out.

I can probably help you, but narrow it down for me... are you staying in a 1BR, 2BR or studio?

they are spread out. We had a studio over luna pool 4th fl over fitness club with enclosed balcony last May. Just ask for an open balcony. Also this past April we turned down a 2nd fl over big river grill because it was a closed balcony.

This certainly doesn't have every room but it might help. Here is a link with some room reports and it will give you some view comments. http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/boardwalk.pdf
It is extremely difficult to ask for a specific room (as well as trying on the CM’s). With the new room ready policy, guests have reported getting several choices at check-in and this may than help

The files arein adobe acrobat and which can be downloaded from this site for free:

Thanks Sandy.

Curious, will front desk know what rooms have open or enclosed balconies?

For the most part, Boardwalk view rooms on the second floor do NOT have open rails, probably because of the storefronts directly below. The exception is the Crest O' the Wave building next to Jellyroll's; those are all open railing. The remaining studios are located above Big River Grill, and all have open rails except the two on the fifth floor, directly above the restaurant entrance (5013 and 5015).

Hope that helps.

I have found front desk true knowledge on smaller issues (balconies, fireworks views, etc,) is extremely limited. Not having stayed in all the rooms, they can generally only go by what the computer tells them - handicapped, lockoff, bedding, etc.

The picture in the link I posted was all BW Villas. The lobby & elevators are on the left side of the picture, Crest of the Wave is at the far end of the hall.
