Thanks for the recommendation but when I looked up the reviews people said it was a really awful player and didn't play most of the DVD's they put in them.

Do you like your's how long have you had it?

Thanks

I don't have one (I'm fine with a region 1 player) but know many people that do. Any player you'll find gets a few bad ratings.

I visit a lot of DVD related sites and the 662 gets high marks for being the best region free player for the cost.

i dont know if its the same in the US as it is in the UK but over here, most of the cheaper brands are multi region anyway, they just done advertise it. i bought one in 2002 for $150ish and it was multi region, my brother bought a sony one a year later for double the price and it only played region 2. a lot of the cheaper lesser well known brand dvd players will either be able to play milti region, or you can get a code from the internet that you put into one of the setup screens and that will make it multi region.
as ive said it works in the UK but not sure about US dvd players

I have a Denon, multi region (after the shop altered it) and it also plays DVD-A and SACD discs.
Excellent DVD player

We're on our second Koss DVD player, DH found an unlocking thing and he ran it. We paid $35 at Sears for the DVD player and it works great! We needed a multireagon one since my MIL sends us DVDs from France all the time.

A codefree player may be the wrong choice nowadays as more and more DVD-manufacturers put Regionalcode Enhanced on their DVDs. This requires a DVD-player which can be set manually to any regioncode. My Phillips can be set to any code by simply hitting 9999x on the remote. Substitute 'x' for desired regioncode. This works with many Phillips-players. Tray-loading players need to have the tray open for that, slot-in drives need to be empty.
Most no-brand players have similar procedures to switch to a different code. Those procedures can be found on the web. Simply type brand and type of your player and the word 'codefree' into Google and hit SEARCH.
Sony players never have that feature as the company also owns Sony Pictures and they would be stupid if one part of the company would be able to 'cheat' on another part. So Sony machines can only be converted to codefree by adding a little piece of hardware, which consequently voids the warranty.
