I did some reserach last night that shows that Chris is infact a hard of hearing man who is a medical examiner (Dr.), not paramedic in the feild. This carrer would be a good one for someone with a hearing loss that wanted to be a Doctor. You don't have to read dead peoples lips, just the facts.

However if I wanted to I am sure I could search more and find a deaf Doctor in Gerogia (near atlanta) named Chris. Both on the internet and asking around sources of deaf people I know. That is if the info (besides the dealth) we have is really correct.

However I don't want to know. I hope in my travels in my life and carrer I never run across him again (that is for sure. ) :guilty:

If, in fact, this person does really have a medical background, then what they perpetrated is even more disgusting. After all, we here in the health sciences are supposed to be HELPING others, not laughing at them.

But, right now, I don't know if ANY of this is true anymore. After all, who can say what else is a lie. Are there really two people? Are their names really Lea and Chris? Are there really any children, step-, twin, or otherwise?

I have doubts about all of the above.

Yes, Chris and Lea really do exist, and yes, there really ARE children. This has all been confirmed by several people. There is no need for anyone to doubt that.

So it's NORMAL to say your own kids (or in this case step-kids) were killed in a car accident. Saying something like that has no reflection on your character? Okey dokey then. :earseek:

Well, I think it's kind of weird, and I would never say that for fear of tempting fate, but some people here write all kinds of weird made up stuff that I would never think to write. Many posters were saying they felt sorry for this person's children, and I just don't see the connection between killing off their kids' internet personas and endangering them in real life.

Has anyone met these people, in the flesh?

Spoken by a person who had a foot hatch in their signature! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

(Sorry I just couldn't resist! ;) )

Hey, watch it, buddy!!! :rotfl2: I can use that foot to insert in my mouth at a moments notice!!! How many of you can say that? The only thing I'm missing is a second foot because usually when I insert one foot in my mouth, they both go in. :teeth:

Now I know why when this story came out I couldn't find anything in the news about it.

I searched & searched & found nothing! Now I know why.

I've said this before, but I do think that it's important to remember. Most people represent themselves truthfully and it's important to not let this disturbed person color our views of all the honest people on the internet. Be smart in your dealings with others (don't send money, divulge person information on a public forum, etc), but don't let this person (to put it nicely) ruin the good things that do happen online. Don't let this whack job win!

Amen!

The more I think about it, the more I've decided there are time you would want to fake an internet death, even for your kids. What if you had posted pics of your kids and then decided there was enough info out there to actually figure out where these kids live. One poster here said they might be able to find out who deafmedic is and had already found out his occupation.

What if you belonged to a small internet community and then found out that one had been accused of sending porn or even child porn to other internet users, wouldn't that make you want to step back and disconnect from that group? You might want to let your "friends" know, but how do you really know which people are the good guys?

Another reason to fake your wife's or husband's internet death would be if you felt they were getting too close to someone of the opposite sex on the computer, or maybe you thought they were just spending way too much time on the internet and might get fired from their job. By killing them off, you could make it embarrassing to come back and seek out their buddies.

Anyway, I don't know that any of these scenarios could or have ever happened, but there are reasons IMO to fake an internet death.

. People make up stuff here on a regular basis, this car crash was just an extreme version of those stories.

Yes, but people usually make up things that are either a stretch of the truth or benign.

I did tell you all that I'm a 5'9" 120 pound blonde bombshell, right??? OK, those who have met me need to keep quiet right now! But I lie in real life, too, like I mentioned recently when I renewed my drivers license. I mean, if I'm ever pulled over for speeding and the officer sees the weight I said I weighed on my license, do you think that he's going to pull out the scales and then arrest me for that?

But we're talking a biggy here with Deafmedic. Not even in the same league, which makes the two types of lies impossible to compare.

She didn't just lie to people she didn't know, but lied to her friends, even if they were internet friends. With friends like her....

Maybe they didn't feel comfortable with one of those "friends" on the other board. Afterall, they didn't bring the death story here, it was someone from the other board. Maybe they didn't intend that story to reach the DIS.

I'm gobsmacked by this thread - how someone can do this is just unbelievable!

If there are people who DO know where these whacko's live, I would suggest reporting them to welfare services or whatever you call it in the US! I know that in the UK the Social Services would defintaly investigate the care the children were getting in a family where one or both parents were willing to 'kill off' some of the family for whatever reason!

Even were that the case, you come on, say the person died, and be done with it. To have turned it into an agonizing story that her friends suffered over is totally different.

It's hard to know since as far as I've read, they haven't explained themselves. I thought that they were banned from the DIS.

Now see, that is nuts! As far as we know, they are ideal parents IN REAL LIFE! I dare someone to report this to CYS. "..Uh, this guy made up a story on the internet about his wife and kids dying, and, uh, I think the kids should be removed from the home..." Yeah, CYS will act on that one.

That's true.

Yep, I agree.

They are banned from the DIS as well as the site where they started this horrid rumor.

No one on that site got 'overly involved' with the wife or husband. If anything, they were the ones who were hyper-sexual.

As for thinking this is ok in any way, shape, or form, I don't even know how to respond. And, as I don't want my grammar to be disected, I'll leave it for now.

I belive the children in question actaully live with thier mother (not Lea). However if SHE wanted to have sole custitity of the children she would have some anmo I would think.

Honesitly a lie made up on the internet shows what a person is cabable of. The same way the curelity to animimals is refectlive of a persons cababilities towads others and value of living creatures.

Momof2inPA, I have to admit that I am going to take everything you say with a grain of salt from now on. I have meet a number of friends here that I feel very confident that their storys and life as they represent it to me is true. The only one I am sepctical of currenlty is you because of your attitude.

Don't know. Could be. I think that the odds are that they have some mental problems to concoct a story like this and with the details they gave. Anyone capable of doing this would not be an ideal person in my book and in my opinion, by default, would not be an ideal parent. Of course an "ideal parent" is a subjective thing and what might be ideal for you wouldn't be for me, or visa versa.

I have pretty high standards for what I would consider an "ideal parent". I don't think that I even meet those standards, at least in some ways. Good parent, yes. There for my kids, yes. Lives what I preach morally and ethically, yes. Ideal, uh, I don't think so. :teeth:
