Regarding Deafmedic

SillyMe, I feel that most anyone here would have reported this had they been told of the incident. After all, many people here "knew" this person. You were merely being a good friend to all.

What really puzzles me is this: I read the profile and it stated the man is a pathologist (medical doctor). If he's the one who concocted this tale, then there are *MANY* more questions someone, somewhere should be asking. That, however, is not DIS business.

Considering everything else that has happened, I would guess that's probably another lie. I can't imagine a real life doctor making up a story like that. This whole thing is .

I can only assume that those who doubt have never loved someone they have met through the internet.

About five of my best girlfriends I met online 5+ years ago... so I can say I will forever be skeptical, but truly love my friends. I see them regularly. In person. In fact, I'm waiting for a call from one of them who is currently in labor. But I will still always remain cautious because of the people who have taken my naivete away.

So very glad the little girls are ok. And I will keep them in my thoughts...

I read that they were spotted in puplic when they were at the hosptial. He was getting a cohlear Implant. That means he was deaf. (I wondered if she was deaf or if there was an conection because I myself have worked with the Deaf community in MI for years.) I infact thought it was odd that I hadn't head anything about this accident if they had a conection to the deaf world, because it is very small. It really would of rocked the deaf world.

So it was all a lie. If the DH is deaf (as I heard with the CI story) and was a pathologist as stated then that is a very big thing. There is like 6 deaf doctors in all of the USA. And they are a very big deal. Very well known, very popular and very respected individuals. One man who is deaf and a Doctor lives in Ann Arbor near us and has written a book, I have meet him. Honestly there is no way the man would have the time to be a doctor and make up such lies on the internet.

What area was the family from?

Ok, now could it be he was a Speech-language pathologist? That would be more likely. You can have a bacholors degree in this, but it is rather like social work that there isn't a lot you can do with out a masters degree.

It also would be a field that someone with an interest (personal or otherwise) in Deafness would specialize in.

This makes a little more sense.

Some information has recently been brought to my attention regarding the supposed death of a poster named Deafmedic and her daughters. It appears very likely that the accident never occurred. I have heard this from several independent sources.
I have spoken to the original poster and they are now in agreement that it most likely did not occur. I do want to say the original poster has been very forthcoming with information regarding why they believed it happend and they did obtain the information from what anyone would have believed was a reputable source. I don't believe any fault lies with them.

All I can say is thanks for letting us know....

May I please try to explain? We have our own closed forum that is fairly new. Lea poated there frequentily, as we all do. Daily to not be off mark. Lea stoppped and we knew she was embarking on being a SAHM. We wrote off some time for that factor.Then one of our board saw her IM account on line as active and was met with the news that she was dead! As well as two of her kids! (we now know they were step kids) So then someone said they saw both lea and Chris and just last week! That sent the wheels in motion! We had to find the truth and we did! This has been the most gut wrenching thing I have ever endured on the internet!!!!

So the DH is a paramedic in N. Gerogia. So was the info right that he was spotted at the hostipial getting a CI? I am all for deaf rights, but a deaf paramedic????????? That is like a deaf police man. The risk of not being able to understand a person you are working with in the feild is too great. (and the consequcnes too big.)

However just being a paramedic seems to go along with the accidental dealth and all the infomation that was provided behind the accident and how the eventual death.

Still all strange and sick.

I was so confused by all this that I was reading past posts by Deafmedic and in one thread it was posted that, "My husband works on dead people." Would be hard if you think about it for a deaf individual to be a "speech" pathologist. Could they "hear" their patients? But hey, I don't *really* know.
