SillyMe is right -- there's 14 pages so far, and at least one "inspired by" thread. Do these people really warrant this type of attention?

Anyone capable of doing this would not be an ideal person in my book and in my opinion, by default, would not be an ideal parent. Of course an "ideal parent" is a subjective thing and what might be ideal for you wouldn't be for me, or visa versa.

And if they had a need to back away, the husband would not have continued to post on the board! You may not form relationships on the internet, but some people do, including myself. There were a lot of people who were truly grieved over this situation, and who felt betrayed at finding out it was not true. Faking the deaths was a horrible thing to do, it hurt real people. There was NEVER a reason for that to be done.

In this situation, giving details about your "kids" dying is rather gross and twisted, but in general I could see where you might want to convince internet people that your whole family is no longer around. I bet there are tons of people who are stalked in real life who would like to convince their stalkers they no longer exist.

No matter what the situation...you can simply stop visiting message boards, you can sell your computer, you can throw it out the damned window. If you feel threatened, you notify the police or the FBI. You change your locks, whatever. You do not fake your own and your childrens death...and you certainly do not make up gruesome details.
The ONLY reason people do stuff like this is to gain attention. It is that simple.

I think that some people's feelings might be just a little too raw to calmly discuss this right now.momof2inPA said:I believe you can be banned for personal attacks. Did you have an actual point? momof2inPA said:I guess. I was taken in, too and believed their story, but I never really noticed their posts before the whole car accident thing.
Were all the touchy/angry people part of that DIS "drinking group" or whatever it was, tm, aidensmom, cantw8?

Aidensmom said:What I meant was that if the purpose of the fake deaths was to back away from the boards, then the husband would have left the board. Instead he remained and continued with the story, for quite a while. That would rule out that this was done because they felt somehow threatened by someone there and needed to leave, because they did not leave.
