Refillable mug--really want to know

Ok - legitimate newbie question.

So, let's say I'm staying at AKL, and I buy a refillable mug. Am I only allowed to refill it at AKL, or an I bring it with me to the parks and refill it there too?

You are only allowed to refill it at the resort you bought it at.

People bringing back refillable mugs from past years is the main reason Disney can't afford to show Fantasmic every night. Looking for someone to blame for HS crowds? Well, there you go.

Are you serious? LOL! :rotfl2:

I KNEW it!!!!

LOL! Some don't imagine like you. When they don't, get yourself some popcorn and sit back and read :). Frankly I never pool hopped but may consider it this time just to see what the big deal is. That volcano pool sounds like the place to go :rolleyes1

Wait! No-one said anything about a VOLCANO pool! Where can I find that magical pool?

Seriously, though, I wouldn't poolhop, but I would do my best to convince one of my wealthier friends (I'm an All-Star girl) to stay at that resort so I could check it out.

What does HS stand for? I'm fairly new and haven't learned the jargon yet. I expect to be fluent by the time I go on my trip, though. :)

Since all the resorts sell the same mug design you can also fill them up at other resort counter service locations, because the Cast Members can not tell which resort you bought them at.

Everytime I've taken my mug back on subsequent trips, I tape my $14 to the machine (come on, shouldn't we all go green?) I'm assuming the uber-honest Refillable Mug Police take the money over to the register...but after reading this... :confused3

Resort mugs clearly state that they are for the length of time you stay during the visit in which you purchased the mugs.

Therefore people who bring their mugs back year after year are in fact stealing from Disney.

A cast member told me that they will never embarass a guest who is using an outdated mug but it is in fact the wrong thing to do.

Bottom line is we all know what's right and wrong in life...this mug system is based on the honor system..just because you dont get caught...or dont get stopped..doesnt mean that you arent stealing...because you are.

There is no difference between grabbing a snack without paying for it or using the same mug year after year. Both are wrong..immoral..and stealing.

Wow, seems like there are a lot of people here who have more time on their hands during vacation than I do. I don't think I've ever watched to see if a person is using an old mug vs a new one. Heck the person in front of me can stick his head directly under the fountain and drink his fill and I would be so distracted by three kids clamoring for one more dole whip, one more ride on ToT or one more souvenir to notice. He could "steal" his fill, then take a mouthful back to his table and squirt it directly into the mouth of his daughter like a mother bird feeding her chick and I would be like "oh cool, my turn at the fountain finally".

Seriously, though, with the economic times like they are, I am thankful my DH and I can afford a trip back to WDW this year. We had to sacrifice and leave the kids at home *snickering* but we were able to manage it. If someone needs to save a buck by "stealing" soda, so be it. I bet it just means they HAD to take their kids with them :cool1:

Here is my take:

If I see you using an old mug :

IF it is a Disney Resort mug, then it doesn't really phase me....and I continue on my way...

IF it is a Universal Studios, Texaco, Wal-Mart, or any other non-Disney Resort mug then I really give you "The Look" that indicates you are a Jack-Ash...

I think if I were Disney, I would truly not give a darn about my guest using "Last Year's" mug...though I would like it better if my guest was at least using the "current design"... BUT if I were Disney and I saw a guest with a NON-Disney Resort mug at my refill stations I would have a REAL problem with that.

Oh and one last thought: I love the look of the Resort specific mugs... its a shame they stopped doing that...

I do agree with you. However, I won't let someone using an old mug ruin my vacation. Although I did joke with my sister one time about taking down a guy at the All Star Sports who was using really old mugs. My niece talked us out of doing him any bodily harm.;)

:thumbsup2 I love it! And for the record, I am the same way. Just so glad that it's my turn at the fountain, finally! :rotfl2:

For someone who hasn't posted much on the DIS, you are a wise person.

One Coronado Springs "forever" mug for sale ....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: k~i~d~d~i~n~g

Disney could solve this right here and now by having free drink refill stations like Holiday World in Indiana ... I'm just sayin' ....

(phew, I crack myself up.)

:hippie: Peace

Before any of you laugh when you see me with my 2000 refillable mug-- I PAID FOR MY COKE!! I bring a mug w/ me because I don't like paper cups. I don't always use my 2000 mug, I have some other favorites. Even when I went on a Carnival Cruise I did the same. I like cups that can be reused and have a lid so there is no spills. I pay for my drink when I have my 2000 mug but I choose to use my own cup. My dad loves McD and swears they have the best Cokes ever. When he goes to one that he knows doesn't carry plastic cups he brings his own in or hands it to them at the drive thru. Because of some states guidelines they have to fill the Coke in a paper cup but they will poor it from the paper cup into his cup. I have recently started this habit. My dad & I both travel quite a bit for our jobs. In most small communities you are lucky to have a McD or a Subway but for the most part they will always let you use your refillable cups. It's not about the money, it's about what we like. If I went to dinner and ordered red but they only had white I would say never mind. We know what we like and that's what we will have. If a Coke is going to break me then I don't need to be at Disney. So, stop laughing I paid for my darn Coke.
