Moderators please feel free to move this if this isn't the appropriate place for this post. I decided to post here as many Disney guests decide to do day trips to West Coast or East Coast Beaches for either day trips or at the beginning or end of a Disney Stay. Clearwater Beaches have definitely been affected by Red Tide, unfortunately Red Tide has been present unusually on the West Coast since last fall, BUT surprised to read about Miami and Ft.Lauderdale beaches being affected as well. As articles on the web state, unusual for Red Tide to be present on East Coast Beaches. SO for any natives of Ft. Lauderdale or Miami, what is current status of Red Tide?:confused:In the past we have enjoyed visiting Ft.Lauderdale before a Disney Vero Beach Trip and we were "thinking" about doing the same in May of '19. Would appreciate any insight into the Red Tide Beaches in Ft.Lauderdale or any east coast beaches. Thanks much in advance!:goodvibes:disrocks:

Thanks for posting. Looks like it may be moving up the east coast toward Vero. Hoping that Ted Tide on both Coasts resolves, :wizard:so difficult on businesses that thrive on tourism. These beaches are so beautiful.:beach:
We don't have any on Marco Island, but they have tested the water on the Gulf Coast and found fecal matter in the water from Sanibel south to Marco.

Miami had some and so did Palm Beach but we did not ever have any detectable levels of red tide in Fort Lauderdale.
