I've only been on one Disney cruise back in 2011. I want to brush up before my 10 night Southern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy. Are there any recommended guidebooks?
I checked out a book from my library specific to Disney cruises and a few guidebooks to the places we were going. I honestly got more real information from reading the forum here and googling. But if you are more a book person absolutely start with your library.
I like to refresh my brain in between cruises by reading either (or both) the latest versions of DCL Unofficial Guide or Birnbaum's. And perusing this forum.
I also enjoy Passporter's. It is now only available in ebook form. You can check out the first chapter for free on their website to see if you like their style.
If you have Europe in your future, check out Rick Steves books on cruise ports, country capitals and little-known, out-of-the-way places that make a hike across the Atlantic fascinating, interesting and truly historic. We used his books a lot aboard the Magic for the Baltic Capitals and Mediterranean cruises with the mouse. For other destinations I always raid the library. DCL's web site has some information as well. TripAdvisor helps us determine which excursions to take. Good luck and take plenty of sun screen.
Before our first DCL cruise last year, I read the Unofficial Guide to Disney Cruise Line 2016. They have a newer version out now I believe. It has a lot of great information. Also did plenty of research through this board and YouTube.
