I'm sitting here listening to "The Bells of Notre Dame" from Hunchback and I'm just thinkin' "wow, this is one powerful piece of music".

What are your "WOW" Disney songs? :)

Reflection

Vocal: Lea Salonga
Music: Matthew Wilder
Lyrics: David Zippel

Look at me
I will never pass for a perfect bride
Or a perfect daughter
Can it be
I'm not meant to play this part?
Now I see
That if I were truly to be myself
I would break my fam'ly's heart

Who is that girl I see
Staring straight
Back at me?
Why is my reflection someone
I don't know?
Somehow I cannot hide
Who I am
Though I've tried
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?

Part of Your World

Look at this stuff
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has ev'rything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Lookin' around here you'd think
(Sure) she's got everything

I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
(You want thingamabobs?
I got twenty)
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more

I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see
Wanna see 'em dancin'
Walkin' around on those
(Whad'ya call 'em?) oh - feet
Flippin' your fins you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumpin', dancin'
Strollin' along down a
(What's that word again?) street

Up where they walk
Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin' free
Wish I could be
Part of that world

What would I give
If I could live
Outta these waters?
What would I pay
To spend a day
Warm on the sand?
Betcha on land
They understand
Bet they don't reprimand their daughters
Bright young women
Sick o' swimmin'
Ready to stand

And ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions
And get some answers
What's a fire and why does it
(What's the word?) burn?

When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love
Love to explore that shore above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world

Oh yes - this one brings me to tears - I can hardly listen to it sometimes - it's VERY powerful. :)

Ditto!
Also I like Belle's voice in Beauty and the Beast. That first song is my favorite. Not powerful, but fun!

The end of the Fantasmic C.D. literelly either gives me chills or makes me cry! The part where you can just see Mickey appearing on top of the mountain.

I also love Illuminations!

Humm, the entire Tarzan C.D. is awesome as well.

Also from "Hunchback"...I'm always touched by the song "God Help the Outcasts"...and I'm not even religious :teeth:

I have an embarassing tendancy to tear up when I hear the music from Main Street Electrical Parade, since it's a favorite from my childhood. Or the music from the current Figment ride, because of happy memories with DS9.

But it's the classic that does me in: "When You Wish Upon A Star."

my absolute favorite is the circle of life. i get goosebumps just thinking about it.

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

This song is WAY powerful. Almost in a class by itself. I was listening to it while taking my walk today, and every tree, bumblebee, bird I saw, just reminded me how powerful this song really is. :cloud9:

A Dream Is A Wish
Your Heart Makes
A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you will lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep

Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling thru
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
the dream that you wish will come true

< instrumental break >
Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling thru
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
the dream that you wish will come true

Awhole new world. That was playing when my 2 oldest boys were born. I was having a c-section with Danny my youngest so I couldn't have a cd player. It was playing in my head though, might of even been singing it as drugged up as I was.

Circle of Life for me too. I am getting tears in my eyes just thinking about it. Love that song.

I've never seen Pete's Dragon but I know "Candle on the Water" is from that movie. It gives me a lump in my throat everytime I hear it.

As I look at the lyrics now, I'm not terribly moved. But, if I could hear Helen Reddy singing it, I'd be breaking down.

I'll be your candle on the water
My love for you will always burn
I know you're lost and drifting
But the clouds are lifting
Don't give up you'll have somewhere to turn

I'll be your candle on the water
'Till ev'ry wave is warm and bright
My soul is there beside you
Let this candle guide you
Soon you'll see a golden stream of light

A cold and friendless tide has found you
Don't let the stormy darkness pull you down
I'll paint a ray of hope around you
Circling in the air
Lighted by a prayer

I'll be your candle on the water
This flame inside of me will grow
Keep holding on you'll make it
Here's my hand so take it
Look for me reaching out to show
As sure as rivers flow
I'll never let you go
I'll never let you go
I'll never let you go...

This one is very beautiful and powerful. I used it once as a basis of devotions at a church meeting. It becomes even more intense if you put it in a Christian perspective.

Incredibly moving song. I remember when I was first diagnosed with MS, my DH was so supportive and this song just summed up what I thought he would say if he were poetic. :)

I completely agree! I saw The Lion King on Broadway in New York several years ago and the beginning absolutely gave me goosebumps. I love that song!!!!

The most moving song for me from the Disney repertoire is "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins. Although I wouldn't classify it as powerful in the normal sense, it certainly has the power to stir my emotions.

"Circle of Life" and "Colors of the WInd" do it for me too. :)
