Really Powerful Disney Songs

Out There from Hunchback
Frollo:
The world is cruel
The world is wicked
It's I alone whom you can trust in this whole city
I am your only friend
I who keep you, teach you, feed you, dress you
I who look upon you without fear
How can I protect you, boy, unless you
Always stay in here
Away in here
Remember what I taught you, Quasimodo
You are deformed

Quasimodo:
I am deformed

Frollo:
And you are ugly

Quasimodo:
And I am ugly

Frollo:
And these are crimes
For which the world
Shows little pity
You do not comprehend

Quasimodo:
You are my one defender

Frollo:
Out there they'll revile you
As a monster

Quasimodo:
I am a monster

Frollo:
Out there they will hate
And scorn and jeer

Quasimodo:
Only a monster

Frollo:
Why invite their calumny
And consternation?
Stay in here
Be faithful to me

Quasimodo:
I'm faithful

Frollo:
Grateful to me

Quasimodo:
I'm grateful

Frollo:
Do as I say
Obey
And stay
In here

Quasimodo:
I'll stay
In here

Quasimodo:
Safe behind these windows and these parapets of stone
Gazing at the people down below me
All my life I watch them as I hide up here alone
Hungry for the histories they show me
All my life I memorize their faces
Knowing them as they will never know me
All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day
Not above them
But part of them

And out there
Living in the sun
Give me one day out there
All I ask is one
To hold forever

Out there
Where they all live unaware
What I'd give
What I'd dare
Just to live one day out there

Out there among the millers and the weavers and their wives
Through the roofs and gables I can see them
Ev'ry day they shout and scold and go about their lives
Heedless of the gift it is to be them
If I was in their skin
I'd treasure ev'ry instant

Out there
Strolling by the Seine
Taste a morning out there
Like ordinary men
Who freely walk about there
Just one day and then
I swear I'll be content
With my share
Won't resent
Won't despair
Old and bent
I won't care
I'll have spent
One day
Out there

I cried in Toy Story 2 when "When She Loved Me" came on.
I find all of the songs in Tarzan to be very moving. Along with a lot in the Hunchback.
Ack! There are just too many for me to remember.
I agree with a lot that the previous posters have said.

Son of Man by Phil Collins in Tarzan - I love the whole Tarzan Soundtrack really

Oh, the power to be strong
And the wisdom to be wise
All these things will
Come to you in time
On this journey that you’re making
There’ll be answers that you’ll seek
And it’s you who’ll climb the mountain
It’s you who’ll reach the peak

Son of man, look to the sky
Lift your spirit, set it free
Some day you’ll walk tall with pride
Son of man, a man in time you’ll be

Though there’s no one there to guide you
No one to take your hand
But with faith and understanding
You will journey from boy to man

Son of man, look to the sky
Lift your spirit, set it free
Some day you’ll walk tall with pride
Son of man, a man in time you’ll be

In learning you will teach
And in teaching you will learn
You’ll find your place beside the
Ones you love
Oh, and all the things you dreamed of
The visions that you saw
Well, the time is drawing near now
It’s yours to claim in all

Son of man, look to the sky
Lift your spirit, set it free
Some day you’ll walk tall with pride
Son of man, a man in time you’ll be

Son of man,
Son of man’s a man for all to see

I have to agree on "When She Loved Me" too. So much in fact, that I went and found the lyrics:
OK, stop that! I just sobbed all over my keyboard!! Those lyrics are so appropriate for the mom who feels those apron strings being loosened.

You'll Be In My Heart (I sang this song to my son when he was a baby).... :guilty:

Vocals: Phil Collins and Glenn Close
Music: Phil Collins
Lyrics: Phil Collins

Come stop your crying
It will be all right
Just take my hand
Hold it tight

I will protect you
from all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry

For one so small,
you seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry

'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here
in my heart always
Always

Yep, I agree with "When She Loved Me". I have to skip that part of the movie whenever we watch it, or if it's on TV, I'll go in another room to avoid "the ugly cry".

I also think that "God Help the Outcasts" is a really powerful one:

I don't know if you can hear me, or if you're even there.
I don't know if you will listen to a humble prayer.
They tell me I am just an outcast, I shouldn't speak to you...
Still I see your face, and wonder, were you once an outcast too?

God help the outcasts, hungry from birth.
Show them the mercy they don't find on Earth.
The lost and forgotten, they look to you still.
God help the outcasts, or nobody will.

I ask for nothing, I can get by.
But I know so many less lucky than I.
God help the outcasts, the poor and downtrod.
I thought we all were the children of God.

I don't know if there's a reason;
why some are blessed, some not.
Why the few you seem to favor --
they fear us, flee us, try not to see us.

God help the outcasts, the tattered, the torn.
Seeking an answer to why they were born.
Winds of misfortune have blown them about.
You made the outcasts, don't cast them out.

The poor and unlucky, the weak and the odd.
I thought we all were the children of God.

Baby Mine from Dumbo is the one I can barely listen to without tears.

The movie with my favorite overall music is Lion King, I don't there is anything on that I don't like.

My son was a preemie and I sang this song to him over and over while holding him in the NICU. I always get a little misty eyed when I hear this one now! I also love "Son of Man" - we see Tarzan grow up in a matter of minutes and sometimes it feels like my baby is growing up sooo fast too! Sometimes I wish he could just stay little (and he's only 4 1/2)!!

I agree with When you wish upon a star and Go the Distance.
Let me add this one from 100 years of magic celebration. This gets me everytime.

Now the dreamer is the lucky one,
who knows down in his heart,
that all of us are children,
believers from the start,
In fairy tales and fantasies
of a hundred magic years,
Filled with pixie dust and princesses,
our favorite Mouseketeers.

We share a magic day,
we share enchanted nights.
It's a never-ending story,
that together we all write.
It's been a part of me,
it's been a part of you.
A part of growing up together,
sharing a dream come true.
We share a dream come true.

When You Wish Upon A Star is my all time Disney fave. I also have a soft spot for Second Star to the Right(ever heard James Taylor sing it?).

Grinninghost I don't know if you ever saw the Hunchback show at the studios but it was fantastic. Hunchback and the music from it are very underrated.

"Every evening, brings an ending,
Everyday becomes a legacy
Every sunset leads to morning
With the promise of opportunity

We can reach for the stars we find along the way
dreaming as learn to love everyday

Promise, we'll walk side by side

As a new day dawns, we'll go on
the music from illuminations brings me to tears

Bells of Notre Dame is probably #1 on my list, as is much of the rest of the music from Hunchback.

The tapestry of nations parade music did it to me every time. :) Also "If I never knew you."

This was the song that the Relay for Life played for their Survivor lap. It moves me to tears!

Sadly I didn't. It closed just before one of my trips - it was on my "must do" list too.

A lot of my favorites - Bells of Notre Dame, God Help the Outcasts, When She Loved Me, and We Go On - have been mentioned. However, there's one from the Lion King on Broadway - "He Lives in You [Reprise]" - For some reason, it's only the reprise that gives me chills. It's a lot of repeating over and over, but the mix of the African chants, with the combined voices of Rafiki and Simba are great. Anyone that has the Broadway soundtrack will know what I mean.

When She Loved Me is so powerful. It has a special meaning right now as my youngest DD is packing and ready to move out on her own. Really feeling the "empty nest" syndrome.

:grouphug: Here's a hug.

One that got to me much the same way was "The Age of Not Believing" from Bedknobs & Broomsticks. I can remember when my DD was about 8 and Santa, the Easter Bunny and pretty much everything magical and childlike were being questioned. It was sad and when I heard that song, I'd fall apart.
