Really Powerful Disney Songs

I just thought of another one...

My Funny Friend & Me

I'm not a guy, but this song always makes me cry and think about my dog, and just how much having pets in general has changed my life.

"My Funny Friend And Me"

In the quiet time of evening
When the stars assume their patterns
And the day has made his journey
And we wondered just what happened
To the life we knew before the world changed
When not a thing I held was true
But you were kind to me and you reminded me
That the world is not my playground
There are other things that matter
And when whats simple needs protecting
My illusions all would shatter
But you stayed in my corner
The only world I know was upside down
And now the world and me, I know you carry me

You see the patterns in the big sky
Those constellations look like you and I
Just like the patterns in the big sky
We could be lost we could refuse to try
But we made it through in the dark night
Would those lucky guys turn out to be
But that unusual blend of my funny friend and me

I'm not as clever as I thought I was
I'm not the boy I used to be because
You showed me something different, you showed me something pure
I always seemed so certain but I was really never sure
But you stayed and you called my name
When others would have walked out on a lousy game
And you could've made it through
But your funny friend and me

You see the patterns in the big sky
Those constellations look like you and I
That tiny planet in a bigger guy
I don't know whether I should laugh or cry
Just like the patterns in the big sky
We'll be together till the end is nigh
Don't know the answer or the reason why
We'll stick together till the day we die
If I had to do this all a second time
I won't complain or make a fuss
When the angels sing that that unlikely blend
Are those two funny friends
That's us

Not too many people know this one, but I like "I'll Try" from Return to Neverland. Another coming-of-age song that really gets to us Moms!

I'll Try

I am not a child now
I can take care of myself
I musn't let them down now
Musn't let them see me cry
I'm fine, I'm fine

I'm too tired to listen
I'm too old to believe
All these childish stories
There is no such thing as faith,
And trust, and pixie dust

I try
But it's so hard to believe
I try
But I can't see what you see
I try, I try, I try...

My whole world is changing
I don't know where to turn
I can't leave you waiting
But I can't stay and watch this city burn,
Watch it burn

'Cause I try
But it's so hard to believe
I try
But I can't see what you see
I try, I try

I try and try to understand
The distance in between
The love I feel and the things
I fear
And every single dream

I can finally see it
Now I've got to believe
All those precious stories
All the world is made of...
Faith, and trust... and pixie dust

So, Ill try
Because I finally believe
I'll try, 'cause I can see what you see

I'll try, I'll try
I will try
I'll try...
To fly...

my absolute favorite is the circle of life. i get goosebumps just thinking about it.

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

That is my absolute favorite. It makes me cry. We just took our older DD to see The Lion King ( Show) in Chicago on Sat. Night and as soon as that song started I was balling my eyes out.

Wow, Momof Katie, I had not heard that song, and the lyrics alone teared me up. Seems to fit for my DS11 so much right now.

My song that I always cry to is "You'll Be In My Heart" it was playing the first time I visited my DD in the NICU. It had been two days since I had seen her (she had been transfered while I stayed at the hospital where I had my c-section.) and was so powerful as I sat there holding my precious daughter.

A lot of my favorites - Bells of Notre Dame, God Help the Outcasts, When She Loved Me, and We Go On - have been mentioned. However, there's one from the Lion King on Broadway - "He Lives in You [Reprise]" - For some reason, it's only the reprise that gives me chills. It's a lot of repeating over and over, but the mix of the African chants, with the combined voices of Rafiki and Simba are great. Anyone that has the Broadway soundtrack will know what I mean.

I agree. Absolutely. It was the first one that came to mind. I saw Lion King on Broadway in May, right after losing my Dad to cancer on April 14 and my Mom 17 days later. That song will always live in my heart.

The other one that has come to mean so much to me is from "Ice Princess"--
"Reachin' For Heaven". It reminds me so much of my friends on the WISH Board who have given me so much encouragement and undying support this year as I've tried to get my life together and prepare for WDW 1/2 Marathon.

Here are the words:
All my life
There was just me and my dreams
And the days went tickin' by
Like the beat of my heart
Spend my nights
Wonderin' how it would feel
When the waiting would end
And tomorrow would start
Suddenly I see the light
Out of the darkness
I'm comin' alive

CHORUS:
So this is how it feels
Reachin' for heaven
This is how it feels
Kissin' the sky
This is what it means
Touching forever
Like a phoenix rising from the flames
I'm reachin' for heaven

All this time
I never knew I was so strong
But you made me find the fire
That was there all along
In your eyes
I can see all I can be
Suddenly I want it all
And I know you'll catch me if ever I fall

[CHORUS]

You alone have shown me
Shining new hope rises
Now for all I owe you
It's my turn to show you

[CHORUS]

It might not be what you'd generally consider a "Disney Song", but it captures the Disney spirit for me.

Note to self - don't open these threads while trying to discreetly DIS at work!! I'm trying to hide the fact that I'm sitting over here crying!! Disney really knows how to get ya!!!

Mine are all of the nighttime parades. Sometimes I just sit there and sob when I listen to them. Literally! I try to hold myself together at the parks, but it usually doesn't work. ;)

Spectromagic
Fantasmic
Tapestry
Wishes
Illuminations (We Go On)

There is just something so incredible about those pieces of music and when you attach those to all of your WDW memories it just makes you tear up!!

Ok, I have to not read anymore or people will start asking me if I'm ok. ;)
