Ok, I am lost in a sea of my own confusion
Hoping a points genious can help me, I thought I had it all straight, but I don't. (caskbill's planner is great! but I'm a little dim right now)
I have a use year of 10/05
I ''borrowed'' 65 points for trip last month
I did an add-on of 50 points yesterday
I have a trip in Nov costing 75 points.
That leaves me w/60 points
If I wanted to go away early next year say March, I have those 60 points, plus I can ''borrow'' from 10/06, right?
I have a trip (mentally planned) for the last week of 10/06, so do those points come from 10/05 or 10/06??
Sorry if I've confused everyone, I really need like a DVC class

Correct.

That trip would have to be 2006 points (or banked from '05, borrowed from '07). Your Use Year officially begins on the first of the month, meaning that your '06 UY runs 10/1/06 to 9/30/07.

Not sure I agree with tjkraz - it depends on the terms of the add on you just did. Maybetjkraz remembers some info from your previous posts that I don't.

You don't say, but I will assume that you had 150 points before the 50 point add on.

If you added on yesterday, you got 2004 points, right? If so, what did you do with them? Since you have an October use year, I assume you got 2004 points as part of the deal. So unless you plan to use them before 9/30/2005 they have to be banked or they will be lost. I will assume you banked them (or will before the June 30 deadline).

OK. Since you borrowed points from 2005, I will assume that all the 2004 points from your original contract were used.

So on 10/1/2005, you get (150 - the 65 borrowed) + 50 points from the add on + the 50 add on points banked from 2004. That equals 185 points.

You already committed 75 for the November 2005 trip so that leaves 110 points that are available for your March 2006 trip (which falls in your 2005 use year). 50 of those are banked points and need to be used before 9/30/2006.

Anyway, my math says you have 110 points left, not 60.

Now if you didn't get 2004 points with the add on, or sold them back to Disney as part of the deal, or had other plans for them, THEN I agree with tjkraz and you that there are 60 points left for you to use in your 2005 use year.

I'm sure Carol's right. I focused on the borrowing questions and didn't really consider the impact of the add-on.

Find out whether your add-on has '04 points or if it just starts in '05, and plan accordingly.

Time to go figure out how to spend my 66 points, shouldn't be too difficult
