It's vacation!! Not a necessity!! So obviously none of the money is well spent if you can't spare it! :rotfl:

I will never be able to explain to some people why I want to spend a stupid amount of money to stay at the Beach Club. I just do. :rotfl: I saved up for it, so it's mine to spend the way I'd like to. I book and don't look back (unless a discount becomes available, I'm no fool ;))

It's also fine by me if you want to save money and stay somewhere else, obviously it's worth it to you!

I feel like these types of questions are (sometimes) veiled attempts at trying to say my way is better than yours, or insult the people who choose to do it the way people are questioning. As if you are some kind of idiot for spending more money than they are.

The time it becomes not worth it to me is when I start questioning every decision I make and worrying about money, then I know to make a different choice.

Anyways, have great trips everyone!

Totally agree! I get really annoyed when people say even if I had a billion dollar I wouldn't spend that much money on "insert deluxe hotel name". As if I'm an idiot for spending my earned salary on something that I enjoy.

I'm ready to get off these Boards. I love getting positive info & money saving tips here! I love seeing pictures of the rooms, pools, ppl's personal experiences! I would never say to someone, if you don't stay ___ Fill in blank, your hotel & experience will not be as good as mine, but if you ask a question & I answer it, don't treat me like I'm a complete idiot for spending $ such dollars on it, or for not doing it your way!
I think ppl say things behind a computer screen that they would never say to ur face & I often wonder if they just ask questions to stir up trouble and be obnoxious!!
I can read other Disney websites & not have ppl say obnoxious & rude things to me!

I agree with the OP's point that if you can't afford it, then it's not worth it. Personally, I don't think people are looking to feel superior or put anyone down...I think most times people who ask "Is it worth it" are really looking to feel better about a decision they're on the fence about. Ultimately though, anything that would put you in debt, or cause problems for you is not worth it. This is why most people don't eat at Victoria & Albert's every night (well, that and the fact that attempting to get ressies would make their computer explode :))

Thank you for posting this! I completely agree. If I want to know whether something will be "worth it" to me, I'm going to check out the threads where people discuss their experiences. Not start a thread that sounds like I'm challenging how someone wants to spend his or her money.

I agree, sometimes it's just to help justify a decision already made. It's more when the replies start coming in that you see the "my way is the best way and you're an idiot" mentality. :lmao:

If you can afford it, anything you want to do, anyway you like to travel is worth it. :)

I find the "worth it" threads rather annoying as well. It's so subjective, everyone's situation is different, and you get so many different opinions in response, that there is never a clear answer on any of those threads.

But, I think it's just human nature for many people to try and justify what they are spending money on and what they are not spending money on. It helps to read about people's experiences, but no one can ever tell you what is truly "worth it" for you and your family. :)

I think we are all spending so much money, time, planning effort, etc. that we don't want to be disappointed. We read a million reviews, but the fact is that so much of the "worth" is subjective. I grew up staying only in monorail resorts. GF, Poly, views of the castle at night, etc. A few years ago I decided to take the family to BC based on so many excellent reviews. You know what? I hated it. The location was so not "Disney" to me based on my prior experience. A pool with sand on the bottom? Yuck! No real CS like Gasparillas or Captain Cooks.
Fact is, I am sure BC is "worth it" to many people. I came home wishing I had stayed at the Poly. So, I guess the lesson learned is that you will only ever know until you try something...and then your next stay you can book where you know it will be "worth" it!!!

I don't know what threads are being referred to, but I disagree that "is it worth it" isn't something worth discussing.

I think there are very few people who just toss money around with no thought to the personal value of the experience to them. to find out what is part of the experience, to make the decision of if it will have enough value to them, they ask others or read pamphlets, etc.

I have relatives with plenty of discretionary income, but they don't go just anywhere. They COULD, but they don't. They have their own definitions of value that is private to their minds, and they only do things with value to them. So they hear us talking about Disney, and to them it's not any sort of value. They plunk down the money for one-day tickets to Disneyland whenever a friend or relative shows up and wants to go; the value for Disneyland is in the enjoyment that their friends and relatives get. They even paid for me and my son to stay there once, because they thought my son could use a little Disneyland break on a longer trip to San Diego (that or we were driving them batty and THEY wanted a break, entirely possible!). But to get even a So Cal AP, to stay onsite themselves, etc etc, holds no value for them.

Doesn't bug me; they have their own definitions of value. No biggie.

We've stayed concierge level at Disneyland resorts (two of them). Sometimes it has value, sometimes it has less. Depends on the cost increase, depends on what they offer, if we have extra needs they can take care of for us. We also stayed Club level at a Universal resort. Overall the DLR level is better value than the Uni level. If someone wanted to know more, I'd tell them. And THEY would get to decide if the things I experienced have the same level of value or no value to them as they did to me. Just because I choose to do something and they choose to not do it doesn't mean that I have to take their decision personally.

Yes, as I stated above, there are different types of threads and different reasons for posting them.

I was talking more about the replies that roll in and the threads where the original poster obviously already has their mind made up about "if it's worth it".
