I haven't been on this ride yet, getting stressed just reading through this thread for our upcoming trip in August! Assuming you get a BG, once you get in line, how long do you typically have to wait? We have Oga's and a dinner ressie that I am wondering if we will have to skip or move.

Also I know it's different with COVID, but we have 8d in the parks (bought before COVID so our TA got us an exception). Right now I have a Saturday and a Wednesday booked at HS. Should I book a 3rd day in case we can't get a BG either of those days? Does anyone know if Saturday is worse than weekdays for attendance? I realize a lot of this is unknown in COVID times.... The main reason we booked this trip was to experience the SW stuff so I am going to have a very disappointed group if we can't do this ride. So frustrating!

And lastly, what's the most efficient way to get from Pop to HS before park open? Sounds like NOT the skyliner?

Were BGs available at 4pm today? I believe yesterday they only offered them at 10:00 and 1:00. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Saturdays can be quite busy at DHS, you might want to have your 2 DHS days during the M-F days. We don't know yet how the Park Pass limits on local AP holders will impact the crowds.

Don't think it matters anymore as each day HS is pretty much at capacity (or at least all park reservations sold)

Can just look at the availability calendar.

Quick question for those with VQ experience: If, during my practice attempts, I was able to select my party and then get to the next screen that tells me there is an issue because we're not in the park, does that mean that if I'd actually been in the park, instead of it giving me the error message screen, I would have instead been assigned to a BG and given that screen? Or is there yet another step? I'm just trying to assess my timing and the process. Thanks.

correct. It'd go to assigning you a BG

We are at DHS today. Based on the what I read on here yesterday, I had prepared myself for a long and sometimes uncomfortable day. Quite the opposite. Crowds today didn’t seem bad. We snagged a 1 pm BG for ROTR. Got in line at around 3:30 and there was very little waiting time once in line. SWGE didn’t seem as crowded today compared to what was described yesterday.

I grabbed some screenshots of the errors I mentioned yesterday for those asking about practicing from home:

Seeing either of these messages will mean you wouldn’t have been successful getting a BG. However, I learned this morning the blue error doesn’t mean you missed out, just try again. Unless BGs go in 20 seconds, you should have time to get back through.

We are here right now and have reservations to go to Hollywood Studios today. Unfortunately, my husband has a meeting for work so we can’t enter the park until just after 1pm. I know that the virtual queues can be entered only at 10am, 1pm, or 4pm. So that would give us only one chance to get in to the virtual queue for ROTR. My question is, if I enter the park earlier, can I enter the virtual queue for my entire party or do they all have to be in the park at the time?

You will only be able to select those who have entered the park. Once he taps for entry, he does not have to stay. Could he join the meeting on his phone, tap entry and then go back to the resort to get on his laptop? He could tap for entry, for example, at 9:30 am and then come back after 1pm.

All members of your party need to have entered the park (ticket entitlement used) to be added to the BG in the VQ.

That leaves you one chance at 4 PM.

Dave

So, from other posts I’ve read, it seems like they give most boarding groups at 10am? I saw the post that said they got a “rare” 1pm boarding group. Does that mean odds of getting one after 10am are rare?

His meeting is at 12:30. So, we can enter the park and then come back after his meeting and still attempt to get a boarding group? I will probably stay in the park myself, though. But my husband will be allowed to re-enter once he leaves?

The rest of spots for 1pm and 4pm wil depend on how the attraction is doing that day, if it's a particular bad day they won't open a lor of extra spots
