Not sure I’m in the right place but I’m hopeful someone here can clarify for me. Can you still go into the land without being in a boarding group? We will be there January 5 and I can not imagine a world in which our family wakes up early enough to be there before park open so I’m not expecting to get to ride at this point but I’d really like my hubby and boys to be able to experience the land.

Yes you can Boarding Groups are only needed for Rise of Resistance.
You can walk around and visit all of Galaxy’s Edge. Millennium Falcon is a regular line.

Update: SR had a posted wait of 50 min, was off ride in 35 min. Group was called while we were on the ride. In queue for RoTR at 7:50.

Off ride and 8:28...OMG!! coming again tomorrow

Question - does your whole party have to be there to get in the virtual queue, or can one representative (Dad) get up super early to get everyone assigned to a boarding party? We are traveling with a 5 year old who loves Star Wars the last week of January, but getting him up early enough to get a boarding pass seems like it might be impossible.

Everyone who wants to ride, needs to be at HS to tap in, in order to join the VQ.

Someone in SR line was saying they got called at 2pm yesterday with BG88.

Agree w/ above. Probably around 2p if all goes well. Even if they move through groups at a record pace and you are called at noon, you have 2+ hours to return. Check the app periodically to see the current group called and the pace they are moving at...highest group called minus lowest group divided by 2 is groups per hour...this can give you an idea of how efficiently it's running.

Thanks! I used Uber from wilderness lodge - departed 630am. Got to studios at 645 - almost immediate through security in rain , tapped in at 706am, got bg 81. Rain made it intense. Large crowds. All well organized and simple to do

So I don't know if I just haven't checked during the window being open before or not, but I was a bit surprised this morning. When I went to check the MDE app this morning out of my usual curiosity, the "Join a Boarding Group" button was not greyed out. It let me click, warned that I was joining a backup boarding group, and let me select myself and click "Join a Boarding Group". It then told me I wasn't in the park (I'm at home in Ohio) and wouldn't let me actually join. Is that how it's always worked?

You must mean you got the bus at 6:01, but if you did get the bus at 7:01, I want to know how you did it so I can do it too!

Disney has only one bus capable of time travel. You just have to be really lucky to get it.

Looks like similar to the past days in that the tapstyles open around 30 mins prior to posted open time but then you are held in the main Street until official park open time when they have "rope drop" and "app drop" when you can join a BG
