3 seconds isn't really a time changer if the ride continues to operate as it's been for the last 5 days. It happened to me too on Sunday, as soon as the last announcement came on at like 7:59:30 people around me started cheering. I waited until 8 on the dot and got group 3

I don’t know, that poster got 82 I believe. I’d be a bit let down. Hopefully you’re right and it was announcement cheering.

I think it's safe to say that the "regular" bg are indeed being locked out at 1 min after opening and that backup bg start at a constant 61-62, aside from the 5 bad days we had this week the data confirms this.
Just a reminder to anyone coming in new, the advice in post one was gathered using what most people saw worked, also remember that NONE of the bg are guaranteed, and that is displayed on the app and on the site. which is why we use regular bg instead of guaranteed.
Going back a couple of pages and reading recent reports might be helpful to you, do that and if you still don't find an answer to a question, you can ask.
At this point, everyone in the park at opening is getting a bg
Also remember that if you encounter any problems at 8am you can go to a GET CM (under blue umbrellas around the park) and they will help best they can

I humbly resubmit what worked for me (iPhone 6 from Canada using AT&T roaming)
Stood anxiously waiting Feb 12, with app open to Park Maps and AT-AT screen. The app could take 10 seconds or 2 minutes to open on my phone, so I had it open 5 mins ahead of time.
Wifi on, cellular on and Bluetooth off.
We were in the masses near Woody at the entrance to TSL.

The next step is critical and I cannot stress this enough ==>
I am dominant with my right leg but I clearly and purposefully shifted most of my weight to my left just prior to 8am

When my phone switched to 8:00, I immediately pressed "Find Out More", then "My Status" then was able to join a Boarding Group and was lucky enough to grab BG5

the funny/sad part is that most people reading this might actually put that in their procedure :D
the real question and you need to be specific to the second, using the world clock, was it a shift in weight flat footed or heel to toe, toe to heel, side to side? we need specifics

I wonder if some of the cheering that starts before 0800 is because the group they are with is getting ready to start... as is tapping into the app, or starting to refresh or something along those lines. And people just assume that the cheering means that someone got into a bg but really hasn’t yet. Just cheering for the process to begin...

Were you oriented facing north? Leaning against the spin of the Earth changes the Doppler effect of the Wi-Fi signal and you get the waves faster... :rotfl2::rotfl2:sorry, it's already been a strange day for me and I have to work for another 12 hours...

Yeah, I heard about this. I have a walking cast on order from Amazon Prime for delivery to the resort so that I can put as much pressure as needed on my left leg.

About the cheering, people just like to cheer. I cheer when someone drops a tray. Also, I heard a rumor that Justin Beiber was in the park this morning.

Agree, people just like to cheer. It’s exciting. Some people might assume bg are gotten before 0800 but that’s most likely not what is happening.

I actually don't want the earliest boarding times. Our schedule will work much better if we can ride late afternoon. We want to hop in, get a bg and head to another park for the morning.
I'm going to be thrilled with any number I get as long as I get to ride though!

We were in the last group to be called today, 127 , which we got at 8:02am and got called at 7:00pm. Waited 45 minutes in line before it was announced the ride was broken and closing for the evening. We got fast passes to try again tomorrow and park tickets for tomorrow after talking to guest relations. We got in line a little after 7pm. Thanks everyone for the tips here but we still had issues with the app this morning despite being well researched and having three adults trying.

YES! We were the same BU BG! The morning was a mess. We tapped in at 8:02 as well. Stressful getting through parking, security and magic band tap in, all while watching the time get closer and closer to 8 am. Picking slower lines was kind of a painful experience. We were back at POP in our room resting for our upcoming MK After Hours event at 9 pm and watching the BG numbers being called and watching the clock close in on 7 pm and our BG number getting closer! That last hour before our BU BG being called was quite an emotional experience and lots of choice words being shouted in our room! Right at 6:57 BU BG 126 was called, uggghhh,, right at 7 pm BU BG 127, last one of the day called! We headed to the Skyliner at 7:03 pm and got to HS at 7:17 pm and at the ROTR ride entrance at 7:32. Ride shut down around 10-15 minutes after we got in line. They scanned our magic bands on ride exit which gave us Fastpasses/park tickets for next day to try again but this time without the morning drama!

So do you plan on attempting right at 8am, or are you going to chance waiting for a bit?
We have an ADR at Top at 10:45, so not a lot of leeway, and we'll need to rider swap. I am afraid I'll get caught up, tho, and end up clicking right away, and with my luck, it'll be a BG that boards at 10ish. 🤦‍♀️
