Are there any drawbacks to NOT updating the app? I still have a couple weeks to go, but haven't updated the app on my iPhone 8 to the latest version. The update is available in the App Store (says updated 2 days ago). I think I'll hold off for a while to see how things shake out.

I have learned not to update the app unless there are things that don't work properly on it. Each update brings a sleuth of problems on my end.

Going in April, we'll have a party of 10. Assuming the process is the same at that point, will having a big group hurt us, should we split up when requesting a boarding group? Thanks so much for any help you can offer with this!

I had to go over to the CM's because my app wasn't working. They did say, if you had to have them do it, you would most likely get a later boarding group. I got 84, which turned out to be perfect. I left right after that, went back to the room to eat breakfast. The lines for rides was crazy and so were the lines for coffee. Then I went to another park and watched the boarding groups being called. When they got up to 70, I went back to HS.

Tried again today. Like yesterday, my husband got a BG (3!). My much newer Pixel had the button light up red, but then the app froze. In line now to enter, but it's not moving (yesterday, the line moved very quickly).

Not at all. In fact, having 10 people should help you, assuming all of you are linked on each other's MDEs, because all of you can try for a BG for all of you, increasing your odds of getting a nice low number.

go to post 2 and read the chart, it will give you an idea on numbers. BG 70 will get to ride today unless something catastrophic happens to the attraction

I traveled with a party of 10 on MLK weekend and made sure to remove any extra Friends and Family in my MDE account before we traveled. I had to call tech support to have a couple of them removed. That way I could just click "Select All" during the BG process, because having to manually select 10 people could take a bit. And like the PP suggested, most of us were trying to get a group at the same time which gave us an advantage. I was the first to get through and we got group 19.

We preordered a Lyft for 6:40 to
The GF because I saw they said that would mean they would come between 6:40 and 6:55. Lyft driver was early and came at 6:30, babysitter was late. Luckily the Lyft driver was very nice and didn’t mind the 10
min while we met the sitter and passed off kids.

no line at drop off, got there right about 7:00. Waited through 3 people at bag check, lines to get in to just past the ticket booths. Staying right really did help a lot, they started letting people in just about as we joined the line and it only took maybe 10 min, went to the toy story side and were stopped by the DVC kiosk as you round the bed to walk toward the TSL entrance.

around 8;45 you could feel the crowd change, opened all of our apps at 8:50 and stayed on MDE main page. My DH checked, Verizon LTE was way faster than WiFi, so we had it off and the kids left it on. when the clock on the iPhone changed to 8:00 I hit find out more immediately and it wasn’t lit so I hit my status, the button was clickable and brought up our family Right away, I chose the 3 additional of us and joined and got group 4. No glitches, it went as smooth as could be. 4 of us were trying, I got through first.

I did have the app update, and yesterday it was loading very slow which is why I didn’t even consider opening the app fresh. Today it has been faster so far, though.

We got called at 8:04 but were entering the line for SDD, that took 25 min. We got off and went to the BR and scanned in at 8:45, ride went down maybe 15 min ago. Still
In line, no news.

Apparently the DVC member site is broken today too. Fingers crossed that maybe it’s sort of a system-wide issue that will hopefully be resolved soon.

Planned down time for it, they had a notification on the website for the last few days fyi.

I have tried different things on different days, but one thing that has worked for me recently is this. If I hit “Find Out More” right on the hour, and the Boarding Group button is not red, I then click on “My Status”. Usually the “Join Boarding Group” button there is active (it doesn’t turn red) and I proceed from there.

I am having the exact same experience. I have the app open and right at 8:00 I click "Find Out More." The "Join Boarding Group" button is not red, but the "My Status" button is in red font. I click on "My Status" and am able to get a BG.

Got here at 7:15am this morning using the Riviera bus which arrived at 6:48am. Came in and stopped “around” the group of people entering Toy Story Land. Using iPhone on Sprint LTE got BG 66. Then entered TSL and was on Mania within 20 mins.

Just hoping for a “clean” day for Rise today.

Also used the same strategy (bus) on Monday for the 7am opening. Stood down by Tower of Terror and got BG 34.

We are traveling with 10, but 1 infant. So I have to remove her before trying to enter a group.

I was thinking the same thing. Kind of hoping that there’s a little bit of a delay when we’re in line (in April) so we get to experience the bananas, chips and Wookiee pics!

They did chips and Rey came through, now moving again and they called 2 more BGs.

They also have mechanisms to take people out to the BR and back in, lots of CMs outside the emergency exits leading people back and forth to backstage bathrooms.
