Thanks Ann! I THINK I can?!?!? It's a mind game, for the most part, but I'm more nervous about doing something for the first time than the actual race, I think. I think once I start running, I'll be good! :thumbsup2

SOARIN'!!!

I'm so glad we nixed the movies and went with just a Disney theme! It worked out well! We picked one of our favorites! We had oranges, "ocean water" for the girls to drink, wine (ahem, this was just for show, we didn't actually drink any of it! LOL) and a few crafts. Hope came up with the idea of making hot-air balloons, they were a big hit with the girls!

They had a blast putting beans in them and taking them away to try and get them to float just right...

Then they made fireworks pictures? Not sure what to call them. They colored paper with lots of crayons, then painted over that with black paint...

soarin056.jpg

They had to wait for the paint to dry (a few layers!) so they played and then we attempted to make paper hang gliders. None of us could figure out the instructions, so they ended up just making their own paper airplanes!

soarin075.jpg

Before the paint was dry, they wanted to make their fireworks, so they did it before it dried. Seemed to work out just fine that way! They stuck a pic of Disneyland's castle (since that's what you see in Soarin'!) and tink on their pic and then scraped the paint away to make the fireworks! This was brilliant Hope, you always have the good ideas!

Ok, on this shot, you have to look at the fastpass pic on the wall behind her. She decided that the date was not correct and asked what day we would be at Epcot, so she changed it! Too cute!

Here's Savannah's finished picture (well, nearly finished b/c the paint wasn't even dry yet!)

It was a fun day, Hope and I got to talk about Disney (which, let's face it, is nearly the whole reason we do this!) and the girls enjoyed themselves! Next week...well, you'll have to wait again. It's more fun as a surprise, right?!?! ;)

You're too fast for me! I had to come home and play Creationary with Jace so I'm just now getting my pics uploaded to my computer, lol. And I'm lovin' the composition on the first shot. :thumbsup2

That was my favorite shot as well! :goodvibes

and I have to thank you...since we didn't have any wine, it left the whole bottle for me! I'm really appreciating it right now!

What an awesome day you guys had! It's amazing how you two can come up with these awesome ideas and creative things to do. I'm sitting here and being freaked out. See my mom just landed in Ft. Lauderdale at 6:58 pm and I'm watching the episodes of Ghost Whisperer where the plane crashes. Yeah, smart thing to do, Ann!! But I just checked the flight status and they've landed. Phew. It's been a pretty stressful day here!!

Glad she landed safely, Ann! Oh man, I can just imagine Ft.L. right now! I'm ready for vacation!!!

so can I!!! They had to de-ice the plane here in Portland this morning, so Mom missed her connecting flight so they had to book her on a later flight from NJ. Arrrggg....yep, there was more snow today......is it ever going to be spring???:confused3

What a great idea to theme your Disney Day around a ride! I love that! Since Soarin may be my favorite ride at Disney I especially loved it!

Thanks Jenny! We had fun with it and I think removing the movie requirement we put on ourselves is going to make it even more fun! We have some really cool ideas coming up for our Disney Days! :goodvibes

And I'm trying to enjoy every moment of it b/c I don't know how much longer Savannah will put up with my antics! My boys (15 & 16) think I'm NUTS and making fun of me for doing Disney Days! So, I'm enjoying every bit of it before Savannah gets "too old" as well! Sheesh, don't they know there's no TOO OLD for Disney?!?!?

On a side note, we have a girly with an ear infection this morning, I believe. Getting ready to head to the Dr.

Hey Julie!! I'm glad you came over! Ooooh, I can imagine up some fun couples themed Disney Days! You could do each of the countries with dinner and drinks! (Ahem...files this away somewhere in my brain for our Feb. 2012 trip...) ;)

Karen that is a great idea thanks!
(Sorry for no color or smilies, when I post on my phone can't get that fun stuff to work)

OK, I’m subbed and all caught up, Karen! Congrats on booking the house! It looks great! If I ever get to take that trip to WDW with my kids and sibs, we will definitely rent a house. It makes so much sense financially, privacy wise (so we don’t want to strangle each other by the end of the trip LOL) and because you can cook and even relax at a private pool! I have got to convince them to take that trip with us next year! Oh, and the Pooh themed room is super cute! You guys are going to have a blast!

Also, wow! You’re running a 5K?!? That is awesome! My dad was a runner when he was younger and one of my brothers is a runner, but that gene did not get passed on to me! That must be a great feeling to be able to run like that. Minnie and I went for a jog/walk on Sunday, well, mostly walking and not so much jogging LOL, and I realized that we had gone 2 miles by the time we made it back home. We felt great after that and we were just walking! After our trip, I want to work my way up to jogging and get one of those Garmins like you have. That looks really helpful and motivating to be able to see your progress. It sounds like you are doing a great job with your training! Good luck in meeting your goals!

Your plans look really great so far too! I hope those hours come out for you soon so you can stop playing the guessing game. That is the hardest part about being a thorough planner! We need accurate hours first so we can make our plans…months and months in advance :rolleyes1 Well, it looks like you and Hope are having fun figuring out all of the variables :goodvibes Oh, I almost forgot to mention the Disney Days! So cute! You guys think of some really cool themes! I love the pictures too!

Thanks Erin! I KNOW we will love the house b/c we loved having one in 2009 when my ILs came with us. We loved the space and relaxed feeling after a long day at the parks! Different than when Savannah & I went with friends and stayed at PoP, but not a bad different! You are going to have a great time at PoP! Total Disney immersion, your kids will LOVE it!

As for the running, I'm not a runner, but I'm making myself one! It's hard, but so gratifying, it's kept me sane this winter! I can run about 3 miles now, I have a year to add 10 to that so I can run the Princess 1/2 marathon next year at this time!! :lovestruc

I realized that I never changed my update on my title for movie day! I'm bad about that, it's why I don't normally do it. :p

Anyway, just wanted to briefly update! Trip planning is pretty much on hold until they release hours, but I'm pretty happy about my itinerary so far. I'm working on getting a bunch of gift cards for restaurants, etc. for the trip. I've been doing this for quite a few months through MyPoints. It's a site where you just click through to their merchants (lots of known ones like Target, Walmart, Kohls, Old Navy, etc.) when you are going to buy something online and you get points for it. You can then redeem the points for gift cards to stores & restaurants! I already have enough points for $125 of Rainforest Cafe cards, so our meal at DTD is covered!

So, now I'm moving on to smaller cards for Subway, Burger King, etc. that we can use on the drive down. I only click thru to buy stuff that I would already be buying, but it's really paid off b/c it's like these meals are free! :thumbsup2 If anyone is interested in more info, PM me b/c if I refer you, I get bonus points.

Other than that, Savannah has had a double ear infection and we've stayed home the last couple days. The antibiotics are doing their job well and she insists that she's not sick anymore at all. So, today we venture out for homeschool playgroup!

My running is going ok, but I'm really sore today from yesterday's run and I didn't even run 2 1/2 miles yesterday. I'm feeling achy and my left leg is hurting, so I'm going to rest for the remainder of the week!

Rey will be home tomorrow and Saturday is my Birthday! :goodvibes We're going out for the first time in a long while and I'm really looking forward to it!

Shew! What a rambly update, and not even a picture! What a disgrace.

:thumbsup2 for the restaurant savings...very cool!

What is your inkling to when the hours will be posted for Oct BTW?

sorry to hear about your DD's ear...I have been sick too (plus 2 of my girls) for a while too...YUCK!

Julie, I keep checking HERE for the hours, it's the first place they usually show up. I keep thinking it's been about a month since the Sept. hours were on this site, but they are still 2010's. Soon, I hope! :thumbsup2

Ok, so that was the extent of the Disney related update I have, but I really came here to share other stuff, cause that's just the way I roll. :p

Today is my 38th birthday...and I'm sick. I guess I caught the virus that gave Savannah her ear infection, I'm coughing like mad and just not really feeling well. Boo. Hiss. :headache: Rey & I were going to go out for the night, something we don't do very often, but I'm ok with it, we'll go another day. At least he's here! He came home for the weekend, so that's way better than being sick on my bday and having him gone. He has been very sweet and this morning he ordered us matching wedding bands (something we have NEVER had in the past 20 years!!) Here's a pic of his, mine is just a little thinner...

They are very different and unique, just the way we like stuff, so I'm excited for them to arrive! Back to your regularly scheduled Disney obsession!...
