My dad will be on the road when his check-in window opens up on his Southwest flight. Is there a way I can check him in and then when he gets to the hotel he can re-print the boarding pass? It is his first time on Southwest and I would really like for him to get A's if possible.

Piece of cake! He can get the boarding pass re-printed when he gets to the airport. I do it all the time.

I thought there was some thing that you get a special check at security if you reprint your boarding passes at the airport.

Not that I know of. I've done it multiple times and never gotten any special screening at the airport. It's fairly common for SW passengers to check in via their smart phones and have to print boarding passes at the airport.

You can just check him in. You don't need to print his boarding pass. Then, when he goes to print his boarding pass, it is not even being reprinted - just printed.

Not necessarily true. When you go to check in, and check your boarding number and letter, it's considered a print. When you print your boarding pass later, you go through the same procedure, and when your boarding pass is printed, you will notice in the lower left hand part of the BP a small letter r with the BP number. This means it is a reprint.

I almost always check in early and then print my boarding pass at the airport, either because I'm somewhere without a printer or I have to check a bag so I'm going to the kiosk anyway. I have never had any kind of special check at security.

I would agree that there is no problem checking in and printing your boarding pass later, either at airport or from home or office

Actually, while in my experience reprinting a boarding pass is generally not a problem either online or at the airport, I usually print them to pdf anyway and keep an electronic copy that can be reprinted at will. These can be password protected for security if you desire. I usually do this with all my reservations etc. and keep them on a memory stick or laptop.

There are number of programs that will allow you to print to pdf by appearing as a printer. PDFCreator is one... just search for that or others.

That is a good idea. I want to make it simple for my dad.
