I would do the same thing. It gets old washing them day in and day out, everytime they want to go swimming.

That's when you send little Johnny or Suzzie BACK home to get a towel and sunscreen. ::yes:: They soon get the idea.:thumbsup2

I don't wanna be the "mean mom" and send them back home. I have 5 kids here right now besides mine, 3 of them didn't bring towel/sunscreen. I always tell them to please remember to bring both next time, and when they leave, I remind them AGAIN! :headache:

I would tell the guests that you invite over for a swim that they must bring their own towels.

not like we invite them. They just come over. last summer was so bad, they started showing up at 8am!!! I finally had it because they woke us up, I called their parents and told them no swimming until 10!

Your house...Your rules!!! That doesn't make you a mean mom. It just keeps everyone from abusing you.:thumbsup2

Have any of you been to Disney during...say Dec. 16th - 21st? If so how crowded was it?

Maybe I'm just weird, but couldn't you set aside certain towels (and mark them or something) JUST for using while in the pool and then, instead of washing them, just hang them up somewhere to dry until the next day. Saves you washing them and saves a bit of water too. :)

That's what I do..we go to the pool almost every single day and I have two towels that are 'pool only' towels. When we get home, I hang them in the garage to dry and then use them again the next day.

I can only speak for Disneyland and it's one of the busiest times of the year! We are thinking of doing Disney World for a few days before or after our cruise next year, and I expect it to be just as crowded!

Thanks!! I was afraid of that. But according to the Dis planning calendar it is one of the better times to go.:confused3

But why don't you let the kids bring their own towels from home?

well, they usually just show up here and ask to swim. If they don't have a towel with them, or sunscreen, I provide it, and remind them to please remember their towel/sunscreen next time. But they always "forget". What I don't understand is their parents... if my kid is putting on his/her bathing suit to go to a friends house to swim, I give them a towel and sunscreen to take.

I am thinking I have to crack down and just make them go back home and get their stuff from now on, maybe give the parents a call. They are all neighborhood kids for the most part and only live a few houses away so it's really not a big deal.

it's ok, I'm a good sharer!

ps. omg I think the DIS just told me to shut up!! I got the wait 40 seconds between posts popup. I feel like someone just caught me with my hands in the cookie jar! Oh well, I think 40 seconds are up now and I can finally post again!

ok we can share the *hottie*...............I hate the 40 sec thing!

oh no! That was for the tickets, I don't even know how much the popcorn is. I just hand over my wad of cash and try to not think about it!

oh!! sorry.. our tickets for after 6 are $6.75 & $5.25 before (adult) children are I think---$5.5 & $4.5.........& we think that's $$$$:lmao:

ok my little randomites. It's 8:30 here in Southern California and 87 degrees! I need to go clean my house a little before it gets too hot and then I think I deserve a little nap. Or maybe I should take a nap first?

I'm thinking about napping right now.......:cloud9:

Ugh, its already too hot in my house to clean. I don't really need to clean since I did so the other day, but it sure looks messy. I guess I need to just straighten things out some. But I am already warm and don't wanna. I am dreading having to run my errands today. I know I should have been up early to shower up and head out to get evewrything done before it gets to hot, but I am being lazy this morning. Now I will have to suffer in the heat later. But once done, I will be sitting in my AC house watching movies.

not even close over here in the Eastern (north) part of the States......

I have to clean the house pretty soon...

ok quick vent... I just don't understand this.

How can you send your kid over to someone's house to swim and NOT pack them a towel OR sunscreen? And it's not just ONE family. I have to supply towels, sunscreen AND snacks/drinks. I don't mind the snacks because they are our guests, but the towels? I am forever washing them it seems. And the sunscreen gets expensive. I buy the spray on kind for my kids and since I have to cover the whole neighborhood we go through several bottles a week!

ok, vent over...

oh that would make me a bit crazy.....:furious: ..........personally I would stop giving out towels........unless they are coming in the house.....they're kids & it's 'bout 90+ degrees, they'll dry..........& as far as sunscreen.......well if their parents don't care.........but I'm a big meanie!:lmao:
Drinks & snacks--------we even buy 'special' neighbor kid stuff (all the kids in the neighborhood are always at our house (totally FINE w/ me----I know what everyone is doing that way) & it was getting very $$ feeding the neighborhood.........the one 'toy' we don't have is a pool......so I don't have to worry about the towel situation though. Our next door neighbor does & whenever DS11 goes over I make sure he has a towel & such!

I totally agree!!

I mean it's nice enough of the person to let the neighbourhood kids go swimming, why should they have to supply everything?

I'm a teacher, but school is officially out (insert backflipping smilies here)

I had the most stressful last week of school ever. One of my students was hit by a car on Wed. walking home from school and broke his arm and leg, the teacher that I've switched classes with for the past three years is being moved, ...
that's terrible....
