Rain, Surprise Birthdays, Rain, First Visits -(Ginny is deceased-Prayers for her.)

And this was the days when men weren't even allowed in the delivery room. He dropped me off at the hospital and went to work. Got back about 10 minutes before she was born. I shoulda just shot him right then and got him out of misery. Then Charlotte would be so happy. Of course I wouldn't have a Sheri. :rotfl2:

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Ha, you laugh. Be thankful that has all changed. It was so taboo in the dark ages of the 60's. By the time Sheri came around he never left my side. I managed to sleep thru the whole ordeal.

No, I'm glad things have changed. DH was by my side the whole time, too. But you know what? I had to BEG him to take me to the hospital on the day Mitchell was born. He swore up and down I wasn't in labor (ten days early) and I told him I was and he better drive me to the hospital right away. He got mad (really irritated b/c he thought it would be a wasted trip), but put me in the car anyway. We got to the hospital at 4:36 p.m. and Mitchell was born at 11:28 p.m.

But, I wasn't in labor. :lmao:

Mel if your DH were mine he would have really been irrtated with me. I went to the hosp three times before they kept me for Gwendolyn. AND YES I was in labor --three days!!! The final time I woke up bleeding; but my mom brought me that time--Danny had to go in and handout paychecks. He offered to drop me off and come back but I said no I would not go alone!:scared1::eek:

For Dayne I was in labor for 5 months (on medication) my water broke a month early! at 3:00AM I jumped out of bed and screamed at Danny I just peed:lmao: and when I got in the bathroom I realized it was my water bag; he told me it was 3:00 in the morning it could not possibly be time. (Like Dayne knew what time it was). So, we called mom dropped off Gwendolyn got to the hosp. the monitors were not working the nurse kept telling me I was not in full blown labor:mad:. I looked at Danny w/tears and said let me squat in the corner...the nurse looked at me and said wait let me check you again (you see it had only been 45 min since last check and I was only 6 cm) she looked at me and said sit quiet we will be right back. In came the anestheisologist who told me the epidural would probably not work (it did for the stitches thank goodness) and along came Dayne 3 hrs after I checked into the hosp.

For Ashton I was a month and 1/2 early and he waas induced. At 9cm when I started it took 5 hrs to labor.

MORAL OF THIS STORY: YOUR DH BETTER BE ON HIS TOES IF YOU LABORED THAT QUICKLY FOR YOUR FIRST OR HE WILL BE DELIEVERING HIS NEXT CHILD!!:lmao::rotfl2::thumbsup2

Omg. My dear sis in law lives 40 miles from nearest hospital. Her first delivered in the parking lot, 2nd at the walmart, 3rd in the truck and 4th at home. From the time she went into labor was exactly 30 min to delivery. I never went in labor with Sheri. Just dialated and saw the Dr. that morning. He said get to the hospital by 4. I finally made it by 630. Met him in the parking lot. Said he'd be back by 7:30. He broke my water, I went to sleep (no pain) and she was born at 8:15. Seriously slept right thru. Poor Sheri was in the hospital for 36 hours. Water broke on Monday afternoon. Doc came said watch her. All day Tuesday and finally at 7:30 Tuesday after her epi wore off had to do emergency C-sec. No anesthesia. They didn't have time and they were both in acute distress. Therefore ICU 9 days. You'd never know it to look at him now.

OMG!!! poor Sheri !!!!! :scared: I guess she was in ICU; I don't think I would have made it through something like that. WOW! is all I can say to that!!! I hope she switched docs her epi should have never wore off!!! Both Gwendolyn & Ashton were done with a catheria (spelling).

Ginny maybe you should not share that one with Mel. until after she has her second child!

Sheri never had anymore. It was the nurses. Aust had crowned and they just kept telling the Dr. she had not dialated any more. Never mentioned the other. Dr. was angry at nurses when he showed up after work. She and Aust are fine now for sure. It was a blessing for me cause my office was next door to the hospital so I got to go give him all his feedings for 9 days. Me and my boy are like really close. They don't ever forget. I miss those cuddle days. I don't think I really want him on my lap now. He did let me sit on his last Saturday.:rotfl2:

Oh my, poor Sheri. I have had to attend one delivery that the mom only got a local for a c-section. It was a very bad situation, very bad. One of us, nursery nurses, have to attend every c-section. There are exceptions when two of us have to be there.

I had c-sections with all 3 of mine. I labored with Amanda for 36 hours and only dilated to 4 cm. so it was cut, cut, cut time.....:rotfl:. Tyler and Dallas were elective c-sections. It was nice knowing exactly when.

We awoke to our last full day at Disney. I didn't really cry but I bummed all morning. We couldn't decide exactly what to do today but Alex really wanted to go back to DHS to try for Jedi Training. It is Star Wars Weekend after all. So what does a grandma and favorite Aunt Sheri do? Of course, we make a sign and head to DHS.

He didn't have a Star Wars t-shirt but we did make him a sign. Good ole Austin made it and of course not a picture. The sign said: "The Force is Strong in This One". We have breakfast at CSR and head to DHS. It is right at 10:00. This is where we start on arrival.

and.

Alex was getting so excited. We go left right away so we can check the times for training. The 10:00 had started and they were picking the children out of the crowd. Alex squeezed in but did not get picked. We told him not to worry. We had lots of times left to try. By it being Star Wars weekend they had it every hour.

We then head out and ride Star Wars again. Why? because we are there of course. Alex stops and makes his favorite light saber with Austin's help. I know Sandi said it cost around $21.00. Not too bad considering all the $20.00 I have purchased from those 'other' stores.

We were sort of hungry at that point so we go find food. I don't remember at all where we ate but Don got his hot dog he had been wanting for 7 days. :yay:

It is now 10:50 so we head back to 'training'. Sheri took Alex and led him as close as she could but there was still quite a crowd ahead of them. He was about 1/3 the way back. Once again he did not get picked. Disappointed for sure he thought his day was completely over.

We sent Austin to get fp's for RNR. I knew I had to go one more time. We actually just hung around. We did not want to miss the next opportunity.

At 11:30 Sheri took Alex and got front and center. He had his sign and was talking to all the CM's and just waiting. He told them how this was his 3rd time and our last day at Disney. He was very talkative as always.

About 5 minutes till noon the trainer comes out and starts his spiel. There were a lot of kids crowding in and trying to get to the front. Alex is jumping up and down like crazy along with Sheri. He's got the sign swaying and the yelling going on. He was so totally excited.

Trainer man (don't know his name, sorry Austin) starts picking kids. He is down to 2 kids left and he says: You, young man, the one in the gray T-shirt and white hat, here in the front. I was sitting back at the tables at that eating place (don't know the name of that either. I'm worthless) and I hollered so loud. That's Alex. It got everyone's attention for sure. So we head up to the ropes so we can all watch. A lot of people clear out when their children don't get picked.

Trainer man picked another boy after Alex. Now Alex is only 10 but he is very tall for his age. He lacks 1/2 inch to 5 feet. So he gets mistaken for being older quite often. I don't see it cause I still see my baby when I look at his sweet face.

And those of you who know boys, you never know how they will react. He wanted it so bad but we were afraid he might clam up once he was up there.

I don't know why we worried. I will just put up the pictures and let them speak for themselves. Alex kept his white hat on under the hood of the robe.

It is so time for a break after all that excitement.

I can't say enough how much fun that was. Just watching him have such fun and getting to be a part of it.

I am so glad Alex saved us on this day. So when we catch our breath we will move on to more things to do at DHS. I just don't knowhow you top that.

We were very glad he did it and got it done by noon so we could finish everything else we had planned for the day.

Continued.

WOW! I am so impressed that Alex got picked! It always looks so cool and yes, my husband was the one who stayed and watched...even though we did not have a kid up there:goodvibes

Also, it is quite funny how you dont remember the names of where you ate:rotfl: Gotta love that relaxed attitude! I totally understand, though. Not too much exciting going on in the eating department at DHS! Cant wait to read about the rest of your day!!!!

When the doc found out how much distress she was in they couldn't do a local. Her temp was 104.9 and Austin's was 106.00. He still holds the record at the hospital after almost 18 years. He was so angered by those nurses. I had a really hard time picking where I needed to be. I stayed with Sheri at the hospital for 48 hours then went to work on Friday and would go back feed Aust then spend the night with Sheri on the floor at the hospital. He was born on a Tuesday and it was Saturday before they let her out to go see her baby. I cried. So they got to come home the following Thursday. She laid in bed and I would take Aust to her. She was so weak. She sure lost her baby weight in the hospital. That part made her happy.

It was very cool. Isn't it funny as many good places in all the parks to eat that there are not many decent (let alone good) places to eat at DHS?

BTW. Love those pictures on FB. Abby is priceless. Such a big girl. And that Aiden at the BB. He knew exactly what he was doing.

:woohoo: on Alex getting picked for the Jedi training. I think I need to get some poster paper to make Dallas a sign. Dallas is big like your Alex, he is 10 and already 5'4" and wears a size 10 mens shoe :scared1:. Everyone looks at me funny when I take him in a bathroom with me....:lmao:.

I feel so bad for Sheri. Cases like hers is why they are quicker to do a c-section now. When I had Amanda they were doing a 3 day induction on me and when I didn't go any further than 4 cm they told me and Dale that they were going to unhook me from the Pitocin and sent me home and I would come back in a week and they would try it again :scared1:. Dale LOST it. I was in sooooooooo much pain, I wasn't a nurse then and I didn't know I could have pain meds and it was too early to give me my epidural. He cornered my doctor and told him either we were having a baby that day (36 hours into the induction)or they could unhook me now and we would go home, and this is Dale's quote "But if anything happens to her or the baby and I am going to take you out because I won't have anything to live for anyway" awwwwwwwww kinda sweet  yet frightening :scared1:.......:lmao: So needless to say an hour or so later I was in the OR having a c-section. Then 11 1/2 months later here comes Tyler :scared1:. I can totally understand Sheri not having anymore children. She went through way too much.

Dallas is big. I could tell he was when I had seen his pictures. Alex is in a mens 8 now. He doesn't weigh 70 pounds yet. He wants to really bad. Silly boy.

Sheri did decide one was plenty but then Mike came into the picture and he had Andrea and Andrew and we had a ready made family. Made for one happy grandma and a happy Sheri. She said those deliveries were the easiest. Andrea was 5 and Andrew turned 3 right before the got married.

Okay, how did I get FOUR pages behind. I'm telling you guys, I can't go away for 5 minutes.

First here's my names and birth story schpeal.
My paternal grandfather was William Lewis. My dad is William Lewis. My brother is William Lewis. My nephew...you guessed it...William Lewis the FOURTH. I tried to avoid this happening to my nephew by also naming my son William (which is after my DAD), but his middle name is Mark (after the minister that married me and Matt-he was our youth minister in high school and I was very close to him and his wife). Christian isn't after anyone. I like Chris, but didn't want Christopher (Matt's brother's name). Of course, I also never call him Chris and never will. His middle name is Mathew after his Daddy. Paternal grandmother is Phyllis Esther. Maternal Grandmother is Winnie Lee. Paternal Grandfather is Donald Benjamin. Yeah, none of my kids were getting those names (except maybe the Benjamin-never really though about it). Our original girl name was Hannah Ashley but Matt's sister named my niece Hannah long before we ever had kids (and I was smart enough to decide NOT to name my child the same thing as their cousin-unlike my brother!). The next girl name was Katelyn Lee (Matt's dad's name was Jerry Lee-really. Jerry isn't short for anything. His mom is Melissa Marion. My mom is Carol Ann). Matt's cousin had a little girl three months after Will was born and named her Caitlin. We ruled that name out. So had Christian been a girl, he would have been Mackenzie Anne. I love the name Mackenzie, but it is getting awful common now. My name is Heather Ann. Don't love it. Heather is SUPER common and I always wanted my "Anne" with an "e" (like Anne of Green Gables did, I guess). If we'd ever had a third boy, I don't have a name. I know his middle name would either be Luke (to go along with Mark and Mathew), or an "M" name. Probably Michael. But it's not going to happen, so it's not a problem. If my brother and SIL have a girl next time it will be Elizabeth Nicole (Nicole is SIL's middle name). I love Elizabeth, so that works for me. No idea what they'll do if they have another boy.

I love Amelia, though Mel. And I think Melody is awfully pretty too.

As far as birth stories: Will was 2 1/2 weeks early. I was do something like April 13th and he was born March 26th. I was teaching at the time and he was born during Spring Break. Even though I told my principal in SEPTEMBER (on September 11, 2001 actually), they still didn't have a sub for me. Apparently I torn my water lifting heavy stuff and even though I wasn't really in labor (I was having some contractions) they kept me and ended up inducing me. I went in at about 9:30am, he was born at 10:52pm.

Christian was about 3 weeks early-by the doctor's calculations-and about 4 weeks early-by mine. They were going by my "last period" and I knew when I'd ovulated (we were trying for him), so they said he was due June 28th and I figured around July 7th. He was born June 9th. I again picked up something I shouldn't have (Will), although I'm not entirely sure that's why it happened. I hadn't been feeling right all day. About 12:30 I woke up thinking my water had broken, but when I turned on the light there was blood everywhere. I woke Matt up, and my mom (we were living with them then too-though not when I had Will) and called the Doctor. The Nurse Practioner said she thought I was okay, but to go "get checked anyway". I know now that she more than likely knew what was happening but didn't want me to panic. I already knew what was happening (I frequented Babycenter about as much as I do the DIS now) and was freaking. We got in the car and drove. That's right. Didn't occur to any of us to call an ambulance. Didn't occur to either of us to go to a closer hospital. We drove about 25 minutes to the hospital where I was registered. The checked me into triage (still bleeding everywhere). My contractions were about 30 seconds apart (on the way there Matt was SPEEDING-I told him he was going to get pulled over-he said then the police can escort us-you can tell I wasn't thinking right-I was only worried about Christian. Matt was worried about ME. With good reason), and I was there 20-30 minutes. They broke my water and I kept asking when I was going to get an epidural. They said when I got into my room. Then the did an ultrasound and told me nevermind, Christian's heartrate was dropping and they had to get him out NOW! They made me sign some papers (I don't even know what was on them-just get my baby!) and wheeled me quickly into the OR. Matt wasn't even allowed in. The last thing I remember was asking the nurse if "he was going to be okay" as the moved me onto the operating table. The nurse said something about "they would do the best they could"-or "she couldn't promise anything"-or something equally not comforting. Then they put me to sleep. The first thing I asked when I woke up, with three blury faces above me (my mom, Matt, and the Doctor) was if he was okay. He was (obviously). That was the last time I saw that doctor. June 9th was his last day with the practice before he moved to Austrailia. I'd only seen him once during my pregnancy because no one expected me to deliver before he left. I thank God for him every day. Christian was born at 2:04am. So you see, all that only took an hour and a half. The next morning the resident that had actually delivered Christian came in to see me and said "You guys were lucky. Another couple of minutes and we'd have lost you both". :scared1: Yeah, THAT's what I need to hear 12 hours after I had my baby, who is still in the nursery (he couldn't be in my room until the day we left, but he never had to go to the NICU which was in the children's hospital next door). In actuality it wasn't that dramatic because I was AT the hospital for 20-30 minutes before they took me to the OR. If we'd been in that much distress, they'd have brought me back sooner. The whole experience was a nightmare, and it didn't end there. They were full in the materity floor, so I was on a Med-Serg floor one floor above. Christian had to stay in the nursery, so I had to get in a wheel chair and go downstairs to see him. Matt talked to every person he could find before sometime that night (or the next morning-I can't remember) and I don't know what he said but they FINALLY moved me down to post-partum where I could be closer to Christian. He was born at 2:04am on Thursday and we went home on Saturday. Never was so glad to get home.

Hope I didn't scare you too much Mel, but I know that you know that precious baby is worth whatever it takes to get her.

As far as the update: how COOL for Alex! EVERYONE seems to have had their kids chosen. I SO hope my boys are chosen. I'm going to have to do everything I can. That will be their favorite part of the whole trip! They've just GOT to get picked! It looks like Alex really had the time of his life. Can't wait to hear the rest of DHS. It doesn't sound to me like you had such a bad trip. ;)

I forgot to mention that I lost weight with both of my pregnancies. I started at around 185. I gained about 8 pounds total with each boy. A couple of weeks after I had them I was around 170. Of course I gained it all back. And two months of exercising hasn't done a thing as far as weight is concerned. Not that I've changed my eating. ;)

I would say that makes for the easiest deliveries  just a lot of growing pains.

So, glad Alex was chosen, he was not not tallest kid from the pics the kid with the brown cap appeared to be a slight bit taller.

Have a great night, Ginny!!! trying to settle my brain so I can turn in...I was so tired all day and now that the house is quiet (except for Danny's noise) I can't sleep!

Whew! I had a lot of reading to do. You guys have been typing away!!!

Connie, it sounds like you had a rough time with your pregnancies. Poor girl. But at least they all got here safe and sound, right? that's the main thing. I saw a little boy on a commercial last night (can't remember which one, now) but he looked JUST LIKE Ashton! So cute. I thought about you when I saw that! :goodvibes

Ginny, POOR, POOR Sheri! Bless her heart. Those bad, bad nurses! My grandmother was delivering her second child (in the fifties) and the doctor wasn't there yet, but the baby was crowning, so they CLOSED her legs to "keep the baby in". The little girl was born with brain damage and died eight days later. Isn't that AWFUL! I told her she should have sued, but they just didn't know then what they know now. I'm so glad that she and Austin survived the ordeal. How funny that Austin let you sit in his lap! I LOL'd at that one! :rotfl:

Heather, you had quite an ordeal yourself, didn't you? That's scary when you think about how close you and Christian came to not making it, but HE was looking out for you and brought you both safely through. Isn't HE wonderful???? No, it didn't scare me off at all. I want my "little blessing" so badly, I'd go through just about anything to get him/her.

Speaking of names again, if we have another boy, then I'm thinking of Jasper Owen as the name. Mitchell insists we are naming his brother "Logan". I don't care for it all that much, but he gets upset if I don't agree, LOL! If we have a girl, Amelia Elizabeth. I like Amelia because it has "Mel" in the middle and Elizabeth would be after my beloved grandmother who died while I was 6 months pregnant with Mitchell. I always told her if I ever had a little girl, her middle name would be Elizabeth. I intend to keep my promise! :goodvibes

I have a meeting to go to in fifteen minutes, so I'll be off for awhile. Ya'll don't do too much talking w/out me, okay???? Be back soon!

Oh, and Ginny: COOL! :cool1: Alex got picked! I'm so proud for him. Such a little cutie he is. You could just see the excitement in his eyes. He was bout to burst!
