Rain, Surprise Birthdays, Rain, First Visits -(Ginny is deceased-Prayers for her.)

I will try to get you a little girl, Ginny. I've really been praying hard and so has Mitchell. DH, well, not so much.

The girl name is already picked out, but I have a feeling you might like it.

AMELIA.

See, an "A" name, just for you! Keep the prayers coming. I have a feeling I might just get my blessing after all!

I so knew I liked you. Perfection. Such a good old name that is once again popular.:cheer2::flower3:

I like old names. Many years ago, I picked Ava because of Ava Gardner, then EVERYONE started using that name. So I picked Amelia instead. So far, I don't think the word has gotten out. Until NOW!

I love the old names. When Aust was born he was the first in this area and all the nurses just loved it. By the time he left 9 days later 80% of the boys had that name. I think there are 3 Austins on the soccer team this year. He is the only one on the football team tho.

I like different, unique names. That's why I tend to go back to the older ones since they are not so widely used anymore. That is, until they become cool again. I love the names Grady, Jasper, Hayden, Mitchell. Oldies, but goodies. :goodvibes

My grandfather was from Switzerland and his name was Rudolf and my Dad's middle name was Otto. Talk about the old names.

Well, I can agree with the old and different names. both Gwendolyn & Dayne are rarely heard *they were both the only ones with that name in school* until she hit college and still not many. Ashton on the other hand we could not agree on anything and it was ashton or Payton both are popluar and used for boys and girls. The day I delivered a nurse suggested Danyon. I liked it but was not sure since it was the first time I had ever heard it. Our girl name was Skylar Rayne; Gwendolyn said her girl name is Analise (which I think is becoming poplar since she said it three yrs ago.

My dad's name was Charles. My paternal grandfather's name was Charles. My paternal grandmother's name was Lois. My mother's name is Edna. My maternal grandfather's name was Julius. My maternal grandmother's name was Nettie.

John's dad's name is Billy. His paternal grandfather's name was Sherwood. His paternal grandmother's name was Mattie. His maternal grandfather's name was John. His maternal grandmother's name was Verbie.

To name our kids after any of those was out of the question. They were either plain or just too...too....well, just wasn't happening. Besides, my mother said that her mother always told her she'd come back to haunt anyone who named their children after her....Nettie Viola!...don't blame her.

If Hunter had been a girl, he would have been Ivy Jewel or Maddie Caroline. My great aunt was Ivy and my aunt was Jewel. Maddie was a spin off of John's grandmother's name and Caroline was a spin off my older sister, Carolyn.

Lacey's middle name is Jeana which is a combination of her grandmothers' middle names of Jeannette and Jean. Hunter's middle name is Quinn. We just liked the name and later found out that John had a great great great uncle with that name.

Oh well, our baby days are over but maybe I can make suggestions for grandchildren names. I think I have a few years before Lacey even gets married much less has children.

So I have a Sandra and Sheryl. My dad's first name was Alfred so brother Gary got Alfred Gary and both of my grandmothers names were Carolyn and Ruth so Ruth got all of that. Brother Tom's middle name is my other granddads middle name Bert and I got Virginia Louise and who knows why. My mom's middle name is Louise. Dad just liked Virginia.

When my mother was born, my grandmother wanted to name her Melody. My grandfather said, NO WAY. So, my grandmother begged my mother to name her daughter Melody, if she ever had one. My mother agreed.

Until I was born, then she wanted to name me Ashley Nicole or something like that. But my grandmother reminded her of that long ago promise, so my mother changed my name to Melody. My mother wanted my middle name to be Lee after my father, but grandma stepped in again and asked for JEAN since that was her name. So I got it. Ugh. I wish she had just left me alone!!! :rotfl:

I like the name Melody! ;) it is not a real common name like Ashley. and a middle name is seldom used and I never use since I have a married name.

I sortva named after my great great grandmother (paternal) my mom wanted to name me Constance after what she thought was my GGGM's name --dad so no but he would agree to Connie. My GGGM's name turned out to be Constantine (I love it now, but I'm sure I wouldn't have if they had named me that ;) )

Well, thank you for the compliment, Connie! You're so sweet! :goodvibes

I love the name Constantine, too, but I don't know many of us who are totally happy with what we are named. It's one of the few things we don't have a choice about! At least not until you're an adult, anyways.

I like the name Melody too. I really wanted to name Sandi Charlotte and Don literally had a cow. Well maybe a small calf. It sounds so Jane Austin

Thanks, Ginny!

Men, they shouldn't have a say at all, I say. LOL! I mean, we women give birth to them and have to go through nine months of pure torture to get them here and then weeks and weeks of our bodies trying to get back to normal, which they never do. Then we have to take care of the babies and feed them, bathe them, change them, stay up all night with them. We should at least have the right to give them their name!

And this was the days when men weren't even allowed in the delivery room. He dropped me off at the hospital and went to work. Got back about 10 minutes before she was born. I shoulda just shot him right then and got him out of misery. Then Charlotte would be so happy. Of course I wouldn't have a Sheri. :rotfl2:
