Anyone know how much the rain ponchos are at Disney? I saw some at K-Mart today. $5 for adult - $4.00 for kids. I'm trying to decide if I should pick four up for our trip in three weeks. We'll be there for a week, but I've been to Florida before for a week and it never rained.

The Disney ponchos are yellow right? If I do get them, I want to get a different color so we can find each other in the crowd :p

I'm not sure but I thought they were about 6 or 7 dollars. We picked up ponchos from Walmart 2 years ago for a dollar apiece. Never used them. They're coming with us again this May.

I think they are around $6-7, they are yellow and they have mickey on them. We bought ours at Walmart a few years back and have used them each time we go down. They are red. We like the red better because everyone has yellow. I would definitely buy them before you go and try to chose a different color.

We buy the disposable emergency ponchos that you find in the camping section of WalMart or Target. They cost about $1 and come in orange, blue and clear. They're compact enough to put in a fannypack and cheap enough to throw away when we're done. I would stay away from buying any yellow ponchos. It is too easy to lose members of your group in a sea of yellow! Everyone looks the same.

You can get rain poncos much cheaper at outside stores, but what happens if the little ones or even the big guys get a rip?

You have to buy a new one, not so with the lovely yellow WDW poncos.
Just take it into any shop and they will give you a new one!!!!

Tip of the day!!

Since we knew that there was going to be a hurricane in the gulf tagging along for our vacation, we bought about 10 ponchos for the two of us. We used only 8 of them! lol We did find that they were remarkably large and durable. We purchased them at a "dollar" store. Some of them actually were in a 2 pack! So, we felt that we got out money's worth. The best thing that we did along with bringing along one for each day was to bring along a couple of gallon sized ziploc bags to put them in when the skys cleared. That allowed us to recycle some of them for later storms. I strongly urge anyone to avoid buying a Disney poncho when you can buy your own for cheap! If you must have a Mickey on it, buy some stickers and decorate it when you put it on. lol Mickey

If you do end up buying them at WDW, try the Animal Kingdom. When we were down there in November, it absolutely poured one of the days. We ended up buying the yellow ones, but had to cut down the kids one for my 3 year old DS -- it was way too big for him. Anyway, as we were walking around in a sea of yellow, there was one family that had beige colored ponchos that said Animal Kingdom on them. I don't know if they had purchased them that trip or a previous one. But, it's worth a shot -- they were quite nice looking! :)

Any veterans or locals out there who can give me a VERY rough idea of what the weather will be like when I go? (in about three weeks) I've already looked up the general highs/lows etc but was wondering if rainstorms happen often/at all in Feb. Please shed some light if you can, thanks!!!

Dollar Tree sells the cheap ponchos 2/$1.00. At that price you can buy several and toss them afterwards.

Want to be Different?

Last summer when we went I found an umbrella hat at the dollar store. (saw them there again last week)

It is about an 18 inch umbrella attached to a head band. I wore it with a dollar store pancho one day at Epcot. EVERYONE noticed it and ALOT of people wanted one and asked about it.

My wife made fun of me when I bought it, but after Epcot said she wished she brought a bunch to sell! LOL!

I bought the Disney one's on our first trip 8 years ago and have used the same ones on every trip. They pack well and for the $7 they cost 8 years ago, I've saved alot of money!

For the person who asked about Feb weather, the average daily high temp is 72 degrees, I believe. We've only been once before in Feb (March is much safer weather). We first went to the Ft. Myers area. It was gorgeous--low 80's. Then we drove up to WDW and a cold front hit that day. It was sunny, but in the low 50's. We had to buy extra sweatshirts!

The owner of our rental sent us the weather report for the same time last year (or the year before), and almost every day it hit 80 degrees. So, all I can say is bring layers.

We also were there for the famous Nor'Eastern of March of 1993. We were supposed to fly out on that Saturday. Couldn't get out of Florida until Tuesday. We can only hope that happens again. LOL! We just had to walk through three feet of snow in our driveway when we got home.

We got the 2 for $1.00 at Dollar Tree and toss them. When we tried to reuse them they got everything in the backpack wet. Less of a mess and cheaper. OKAY, they aren't as cute.

I got the thick k-mart ones two years ago. I have been to wdw about 4 times since and those ponchos have been used atleast two days on each trip. They have been wonderful and look like brand new still. They are specially great when you go to kali river rapids.

Hunnybee

I just returned from AK where I wanted to get one of the beige ponchos but they have been discontinued and now the only ones available are the yellow Mickey ones in all the parks. :(

We always buy clear disposables, after the rain....we toss 'em. There was nothing worse than having to carry around wet bulky ponchos....it's disposable for us from now on! Besides, we NEVER wore those ponchos at home.

I just saw rain ponchos at Dollar Tree yesterday 2/$1--would be perfect for those who want to throw them away after using.

We always bring red rain coats for our entire family. That way it is easier to tell which child running around is ours. Have a great trip!

We were in Disney last June and by early afternoon it was too hot and humid to be wrapped in plastic! I had the disposable poncho's from target and they did come in handy on the water ride but i'd rather be wet from rain than from sweat.

We still have the tan poncho we bought from AK in 95, but we bought it for the stroller.

Just my 2 cents:wave:
