I've been checking the weather channel and it is calling for rain on Tuesday December 11 which is the day we are going to MVMCP. I am going to pray it is going to change. If they cancel it do you get a refund.

They have never canceled a party. They have, however, canceled the parade or the shows but it's rare.

If they do cancel the parade or any of the shows, then you may be able to get a one day park ticket for another day, a party ticket for another day, and rarely, a refund; it depends on the CMs working that day. You would want to stop at Guest Services on your way out.

We're going to the party on the 11th as well, and I just checked the 10 day forecast on weather.com's site and it says its' going to be high of 80, low 60, partly cloudy with only a 20% chance of rain.

The predictions aren't going to be entirely accurate this far ahead. About 3-5 days out, check the local news afiliates (wesh, wkmg, wftv) for more accurate forecasts.

I've been at MVMCP when it poured rain so hard it was over our shoes. They cancelled the parade and fireworks as well. We didn't get any kind of refund. I have read threads about one MNSSHP that the weather was so bad that they did give them the chance to go another night, but that wasn't our experience. It's probably handled on a "storm by storm" basis ;) .

That's a week away. I find that the 5th day of a 5 day forecast is rarely correct. I wouldn't worry. :)

I completely agree.

On top of that.. the current forecast @ weather.com calls for "Scattered Showers" -- in Florida Meteorological terms, that means just that.. the odd shower here and there of a short duration.

Rarely does that mean a full day and evening of rain.

Honestly - I wouldn't worry at all.

Yeah, my experience with Florida scattered showers is going into Mickey's Philharmagic when it is completely dry, sun is out and not a cloud in sight and coming out with sun out, not a cloud in sight, but everything is completely soaked. :)

Last year we went right around the same time as you and it POURED for MVMCP. I'm talking summer thunderstorms type rain. Luckily we had ADRs during the worst part of the storm, but people were really upset. The party went on, but everything got delayed. I think they cancelled the castle show, but the parade and Wishes did end up happening. It wasn't the ideal situation, but we still had a great time. Pack those ponchos!

Hoping for the best. We have tickets for 12/11 also. I already packed the ponchos, although DH says he won't wear one. So I guess he gets wet if it rains. :confused3 I am thinking happy, sunny thoughts. :cool2: And if it rains I will just go with the flow. Hey, it is still better than sitting at my desk in Ohio where it most certainly will be cold. I keep checking AccuWeather, but know things change almost minute by minute. We are now scheduled to have 4-6 inches of snow tomorrow.

We'll be there on that date as well and am not worried in the least. It's too far out for it to be semi-accurate. Right now it's just a best guess on the information they have. It WILL change quite a bit over the next few days. Check on saturday for a more accurate forecast. That's what we'll do that evening when we arrive on 12/8/07. The current forecast calls for wednesday to be the last warm day, after which the temps drop drastically. As previously said, that will most likely change and will either not be as severe or will be moved back/forward a day or so.

We'll all keep watching the weather and see how it plays out. One thing is for sure, we will all be at WDW together as a DIS family  with our own families having a great time. NOTHING can take that away or ruin our vacation. See ya thar mates!pirate:

I too have a ticket for the Party on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Looking at the long range forcast it's calling for a high of 78, a low of 63, and a rain chance of 45%. But as others have noted, the forcasts usually change as one gets closer to the actual date. Here's hoping it holds off on the rain that evening.

:santa:

What can I say? It rains in FL, sometimes it pours ... but of all the many, many times I have been in WDW, it rained for HOURS exactly once. It POURED w/ a vengeance when I was at the MVMCP last week, just as the parade was ending. My mom & I were extremely surprised to see people actually leaving after only about 5 minutes. We wanted to scream, "HEY! SHOW SOME PATIENCE!" lol. It rained for about 10-15 minutes & then we were fine for the rest of the night. Bring some ponchos & good cheer & enjoy the lightened crowds. :thumbsup2

Is it wrong to hope for a really bad but quick shower so we can have the park to ourselves after??

!

OH please NOOOO!!! I have tickets that day. :scared:

Wow, I've been checking the weather for the last couple of days and I don't see any rain for our entire stay from Dec 9-16th. We have tickets to Dec 11th MVMCP and I see no rain:wizard: :wizard:

We are in the dry part of the year in what was already a very dry year. I wouldn't worry about a rainout.

Feralpeg, tell me we're going to get at least ONE cool front in the next two weeks. :) We love warm weather, but I bought my gals a few new outfits for MVMCP and other parts of our trip, and NONE of them are 80 degree outfits. I NEED a cool front. Makes things feel Christmassy that way. :)

(And yes, because you leave nearby, you are the default Cent. Florida weather expert.) ;)

It will be in the mid-40s overnight tonight, but it will be 80 degrees by the end of the week. After that, it looks like it will be in the 70s. It is too far off to tell what will happen after that.

Sorry to post this but we went on 11/27 and the forecast was for a low of 61 and clear (that AM). Well it started to rain (fine mist light rain) at 7pm (the start of the party), and right after the first parade it started to rain harder. They stopped one of the shows in the middle and you could hardly see the fireworks. The second parade was fine and the night was not a total wash. We just can’t seem to go to this and not get rained on. I hope it’s better for you, but we had a good time at the dance party:cool1: .
