Thunderstorms are likely the evening we are supposed to see SW Symphony of the Star fireworks show. What's the chances it will be canceled due to rain?
I don't really know much about this subject, but I believe there's a fairly big chance it could be cancelled because of the rain. I don't really know, though- it's very likely if it's still raining when the show is set to start, I guess.
Problem with symphony is that it's launched from the roofs of the buildings there at the studios. If there's heavy rain or lighting when they go to load the mortars in the afternoon they won't load, and thus no show. Also if there is extremely heavy cloud cover they won't do the show due to lack of visibility.
By law, disney has to fire them off within a certain time frame once they are loaded. For them to cancel, it needs to be pretty bad out or unsafe to load them earlier in the day. I've also watched fireworks in heavy rain at disney. I think it's very high winds and lightning that delay it.
The only time we saw the Star Wars fireworks was in a heavy rain (no lightning). We stood huddled under an umbrella by the picnic tables - and decided they were probably awesome. I say probably b/c we really couldn't see them all or clearly through the rain.
